MAKEUP
KIT
ESSENTIALS
- Primer & Moisturiser
A Moisturiser that is suitable for all skin types (including sensitive skin) and a
minimum of at least 1 primer to help makeup stay on and reduce pores. My favourite
is The Ordinary silicone primer and Aveeno oat moisturiser.

- Disposable Mascara Wands

You need to have a pack of disposable mascara wands and maybe even disposable
lip wands to help keep cleanliness in check. You can get these in bulk on sited such as
Amazon/Ebay.

- Foundations
A minimum of 4 shades from lightest to darkest. You can mix colours together to
create new colours and add more as you go! You also want a range of matte to dewy
finishes so you can adapt for any client. I recommend the NIP & FAB foundations as
they have a satin finish. You can then add more highlight for a dewy finish and
mattifying powder for a more airbrushed finish.

- Concealers
A Minimum of 3 concealers. Again, you want a range of colours that will help conceal
and brighten areas and imperfections. I recommend NYX 3C palette conceal, correct,
contour.

- Highlight, Contour & Blush

I recommend buying a palette with all three in together to save money but its
important that you have at least one of each. I advise you to purchase a light
champagne toned highlighter to suit lots of skin colours and a medium ashy contour
colour which you can build up. I would also suggest a peachy natural toned blush that
you can build up to suit different skin colours. My favourite is Sleek MakeUP face
form palette.

- Eyebrow Pencils Or Pomades

I think its cheaper and easier to get 2-3 eyebrow pencils in light to darker shades than
to get a couple of pomades that may dry out quickly. My recommendation is NYX
micro brow pencils. They last a long time and have a small applicator to create a
natural shape. If you prefer using a pomade i recommend the L.A. Girl brow pomade
in soft brown.

ARTIST MANUAL
- Eyeshadow Palettes
I would suggest you have 2 palettes; a range of neutral colours such as, browns,
oranges, reds, blacks, greys, creams and a range of bright colours such as, pinks,
blues, greens, yellows etc. I would start off with matte (non-shiny) eyeshadows and
bring in shimmers and glitters when you feel confident to do so! I love the makeup
revolution reloaded iconic fever palette and the NYX brights palette.

- Eye Liners
Its important that you have at least 1 liquid eyeliner and 1 kohl pencil. i suggest you
get it in the colour black as it is the most common amongst clients but you are more
than welcome to experiment with other cool colours like pink, white, nude etc. I love
using the Melt Cosmetics gel pomade in immortal with a small angled brush because
it lasts a lot longer than any liquid liner I have used before! I use the Primark kohl
pencil in black for smokey eye looks and waterlines.

- False Lashes
Some clients love to wear false lashes, you can get different styles, types and
thickness'. I would suggest getting a couple of natural pairs to start with. You can get
a natural pack of 5 wispie lashes on Amazon/Ebay for cheap! You will also need to
purchase lash glue, the one I use is DUO glue clear/white adhesive. It dries clear so it
looks more natural!

-Lipsticks, Lip glosses & Lip Liners

You will need to get a variety of shades to start with. I would advise to get a red
lipstick and a nude lipstick and maybe a clear gloss. You can expand on your range as
time goes on or even ask them to bring their favourite lipstick! My favourite red
lipstick is MAC lady danger and my favourite nude is MAC shy girl. Eventually you'll
want to build up to getting a range of shiny and matte finishes and different formulas
and colours! You will also need to get a trusty lip liner! I would suggest a nude colour
which can be used with lots of different lipsticks to start with like Primark toffee lip
liner.

- Makeup Brushes & Cleaner

It's important you have at least 1 set of makeup brushes for face, eyes and lips. You
can start off with a cheap set on Amazon/Ebay and replace them when you start
growing. My favourite brushes are from Peaches Makeup. Refer to the brush guide
for help! It is important to get a disinfectant makeup cleaner for your brushes as well
like Barbacide.

EXTRA'S
There are additional extras which will make makeup artist
life a lot easier and can expand the services you offer! You
want a good reputation so its important to have a good kit.

- Wet Wipes/Makeup Wipes (for sensitive skin)

It's great to use these on the go if you need to clean a station
or brush after use (or even to use on a client during makeup
application).

- Face Paint
This will be great for Halloween or Film. A palette that has
black and white in but also has a range of colours like the
Mehron paradise palette basic, 8 colours.

- Hair Clips Or Hair Bands

CLIENTS
It helps if the hair is out of the face when applying makeup.
So, make sure you have something that keeps it back. If the

HIGHLIGHT,
CONTOUR AND
BLUSH
CONTOUR
DARKER SHADOWS
When applying contour you want to be enhancing
the shadows of your clients face. Have a look to see
what colour is the shadow? It should be grey toned.
You want to find a contour that matches that so it
looks natural. Getting them to pout their lips out can
help you see the shadow underneath their cheeks.
You can also ask them to move their face from side
to side to see where the light does not hit them. The
picture shows the places I contour, this will be similar
for all clients but may very from different skin tones.

HIGHLIGHT
LIGHTER PARTS
Highlight is usually where the natural light hits the
skin. Again, you can ask the client to move their face
from side to side whilst shining a light on them to see
where it hits the face naturally. Your job with
highlighter is to enhance that glow! Be warned, if a
client has oily skin or if they have stated that they do
not like shine in the consultation then you may want
to skip this step or apply a smaller amount.

BLUSH
PINK/RED ON THE CHEEKS
A lot of people do not have naturally pink cheeks.
The idea behind blush is to bring a little colour to
the face and create some depth to the cheeks.
Usually blush sits on the lower cheek bone but can
be placed higher to create a lifted effect.

Eyebrows come in all different shapes and sizes.
The biggest tip I can give you is... less is more! SHAPING
Look at the shape in front of you. Your job is to
enhance what they have. I usually ask my client
about how they like their brows. Bold? Angular?
EYEBROWS
Natural? Fluffy? You want to create their perfect
eyebrow.

Start by filling in hairs with a thin eyebrow pencil

to mimic hair-like strokes. As you go from the
tail of the brow to the centre you will start to see
a shape forming.

Make sure that the colour of the eyebrow pencil

matched the colour of their eyebrows. If they
like their eyebrows to appear darker you may
want to use a darker pencil.

Over the years I have found that brushing

through the eyebrow with a disposable mascara
wand whilst I go helps even out the colour and
lifts the arch giving a more lifted and fuller brow.

EYESHADOW Eyeshadow was initially used to make eyes

use it to showcase art with different patterns,

comes to eyeshadow, creative flare is
everything!

When it comes to your client you want to

their eyes and eye colour but also show off
skills that they may not be able recreate at
home... at the end of the day, they are paying

EYELINER LASHES
You can apply eyeliner in lots of different ways
with lots of different products.
False lashes are a personal preference and
you'll need to discuss with your client if you
will be applying them in the appointment.

There are lots of types and styles to choose

from.

Natural lashes - lashes in-between length and
