Please find the attached course outline, grading policy and classroom rules that all
students are expected to follow to ensure a better learning atmosphere.
Please review the attached syllabus, and sign the agreement given by school that
states you have read and understood the course and its requirements. And also,
please encourage your son or daughter to actively participate in class, complete all
assignments thoughtfully and on time, and to study regularly outside of class since
now they are entering the first academic year as Junior High School students.

A. Course Description
Biology for Cambridge IGCSE Coursebook builds on ideas and concepts. The
topics are made interesting and relevant with an emphasis on real life biology.
As students progress through the course content is revisited developing
students understanding and confidence. All the theoretical work is underpinned
by practical work that enables students to improve their understanding of theory
and develop important practical skills.

Biology for Cambridge IGCSE Biology Coursebook by Mary Jones and Geoff
Jones. With the emergence of technology as a tool for learning, SMA Unggulan
Rushd will be utilizing various resources to assist with instruction, including
online textbooks, and interactive websites.

E. Class Participation
Be prepared for class each day. Contribute to a quiet environment during
lectures and class discussions. Respect others’ right to hear and participate
during discussions. Your attention is important in this class: keep your head up
and eyes open and on speaker. Also do not hesitate to share your ideas with
the class. Good participation includes asking and answering questions in class
based upon your preparation, undertaking and completing assigned activities,
cleaning up materials asrequested, and being a good classroom citizen.
F. Absence Policy
Students will get extra points on their chapter test average, if they do not miss
any Biology class. 30% unexcused absence will have you to fail in Biology class,
even if you take the test and pass the class. Absence award consequences :
a. No absences extra 10 points on the average of chapter tests.
b. 1- day absences extra 5 points on the average of chapter tests.
c. 2 – days absences extra 2 points on the average of chapter test.
G. Assignment Policy
Do the assignment and turn them in on time if students collect the assignment
late, the consequence is minus score according to the days
H. Classroom Expectation
a. Give every task your best effort!
b. Provide specific notebook for Biology lesson
c. Respect others’ work, ideas, belongings, and space. Anything that is not
yours should either not be touched or, only with permission, handled with
care.
d. Cooperate with others.
e. Keep your cell phones and other electronics and distractions at home or to
your homeroom teachers unless there is an instruction to use it during the
lesson. – They will be confiscated!
f. No food or gum in the classroom during the lesson. You can drink during
the lesson, but no drink allowed during experiment especially in the
laboratory.
g. Enter and leave the room in a respectful manner. If you come late with a
pass, please hand me the pass and quietly take yourseat.
I. Class Requirement
In order to be a member of this class, you and your parent/guardian will be
asked to read and sign a safety contract that given by school. This is a science
classroom and you will be surrounded by expensive and/or potentially
dangerous materials on a daily basis. If these materials are not handled
properly, you will be putting not only your safety, but your classmates’ safety at
risk as well. Therefore, it is crucial that you understand and sign this document
in order to participate in this class. Furthermore, it is required that you have a
notebook or binder specifically for Biology. I will periodically be checking to see
that you :
1) have your notebook or binder in your possession and
2) that you are regularly completing the note and any given assignments.
Aside from those, you might required to provide the listed technology and
instructional tools to complete some assignments that are given online

K. Methodology
A combination of lecture, class discussion, presentations, videos (Blended
Learning), cooperative learning, and problem-based learning will be used in this
course. Educational tools that will be used:
1. Google Classroom
A free web service developed by Google for schools that aims to simplify
creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way.
2. Edunav LMS
An integrated platform that is provided by schools to track your performance
at classes includes the record of your attendances, scores, courses,
assignments, etc.
