1
Before the Recovery
1) This document describes how to recover the software of DC-N2/DC-N2Vet diagnostic ultrasound
system. System recovery includes operating system (Linux) recovery and application software
(Doppler software) recovery. (Note: This guide applies to all software versions unless noted
otherwise).
2) The system recovery procedure for DC-N2 and DC-N2Vet is the same except different software
package is used.
3) Determine current software version: turn on the DC-N2 machine, press Setup key, and click on
About. Write down current System Software Version number.
4) Consult Mindray for the latest software information and how to order or download the software
package.
5) You need the following item:
a) A recovery USB flash drive with software from Mindray, or
b) Software package files (ZIP file) and an empty USB flash drive with minimum 2 GB free space.
6) Depending on the software version, it is normally required to recover operating system (Linux)
and application software together. All user installed drivers, for example, printer drivers will be
erased during the recovery. You will have to reinstall them after the software recovery.
7) Make sure the DC-N2 is connected to AC power throughout the recovery. Do not disconnect the
power or shut down the system during the process.

2
1 Step One – Make the Recovery
USB Flash Drive
USB flash drive with recovery software.

Note: If you download the recovery software zip file from a

website provided by Mindray, extract the zip file to an empty USB
flash drive with minimum 2GB capacity.

The application software ZIP file is located under the folder:

“Software/Ultrasound Application Softw0are”
The operating system software ZIP file is located under the
folder: “Software/Operating System Software”.

Note: Please select the right download path in TDP according to

your model name.

1) If you already have a recovery USB flash drive ordered from Mindray, this step is not necessary.

Continue to 2 Step Two - Data Backup.

2) Format the USB flash drive.

1. Formatting the USB flash drive will erase ALL the data on it. Back them up prior to the
formatting if necessary.
2. The system supports only FAT or FAT32 format USB disk, FAT32 format is recommended.
3. If there are many drives in USB disk, installation may fail.
4. Disconnect the extra USB devices to the machine.

Plug in the USB flash drive into a computer (here we take Windows operating system as an
example). Go to My Computer, right click on the USB flash drive (Removable Disk) icon and
select Format.

Select FAT32 in File system, click on Start. Click on OK if it is safe to erase all files on the USB
flash drive. A message “Format Complete” will be displayed shortly.

3
3) Obtain the software package: you can download application software ZIP file in the path
“Software/Ultrasound Application Software” and operating system recovery software ZIP file in
the path “Software/Operating System Software” from TDP.

Note: Please select the right download path in TDP according to the model name.

a) If you want to recover operating system and application software, extract the operating
System software package ZIP file to the root directory of the USB flash drive, then extract
application software package ZIP file to the “doppler” directory. Explore the USB flash drive
on the computer to make sure it has the following files and folders.

¾ Doppler: Application software folder. Without this folder, only the operating system will
be installed.
¾ Sys: operation system data is placed here.
¾ Mrcs.sh: installation program.
¾ Version.txt: version file.

Furthermore, for "Doppler" directory, please make sure it has the folders and files as shown
below. Otherwise, system will not load application software after operating system recovery.

¾ Data: Application software data

¾ Demo: Demo data (not included in Vet version).
¾ Boot_doppler.sh: implementation script
¾ product_info.ini: Configuration file

4
¾ CheckTool.exe: Checking integrity of application software package data.File_MD5.xml:
MD5 value. If CheckTool.exe returns a same value with this file, the verification is
successful. Otherwise the verification fails.
b) If you only want to recover application software, extract the application software package ZIP
file to the root directory of the USB flash drive.

4) Disconnect the USB drive from the computer.

5
2 Step Two - Data Backup
1) Back up user preset data.

User preset data may be erased during the upgrade. Mindray strongly
recommends backing up user presets.
To back up user presets to a USB flash drive:
Plug a USB flash drive into the machine, press SETUP key on the keyboard, and click
[Maintenance] Æ [Other] Æ “Preset Manager” Æ [Export]. Select USB drive (usually it is drive
F), and type a name for the preset data file and click on [OK].

2) Back up patient data.

Even though patient data including patient info, images, cine loops and reports usually
will not be affected during the recovery, for safety consideration, Mindray strongly recommends
having all the patient data backed up before the recovery.

Refer to operator’s manual for detailed instructions of how to backup patient data.

1. Mindray makes no guarantee that patient data or preset data between software
versions are fully compatible.
2. Please refer to operator’s manual for detailed instructions of how to recover patient
data and preset data.

6
3 Step Three – System
Recovery

1). If you want to recover the operating system and application software, please follow
the instructions in 3.1 Operating System and Application Software Recovery.
2).If you only want to recover application software, please skip 3.1 and jump to 3.2
Application Software Recovery.
