NCR NDC Enterprise is a ‘next generation’ ATM application, built to deliver the
power, flexibility, functionality, performance and security that you need as your
foundation for continuous self-service innovation well into the future.
Heavily influenced by the ATMIA Next Gen blueprint, NDCe represents a new
generation of Digital First enterprise ATM software.
This advanced solution leverages flexible modern architectural principles and
technologies for delivering an outstanding consumer experience with reduced
operational complexity.

This solution supports a full transaction set, multiple consumer interaction

modalities and multi-language support. It is also multivendor capable supporting all
the main vendors of ATM hardware. NDCe is also pre-configured to support
contactless, chip-based transactions and ATM Marketing.

NDCe has been designed to

answer the main bank
challenges

• Promote digital
transformation
• Enhance the consumer
experience
• Attract new customers
• Accelerate time to market
• Reduce costs
• Grow revenues
• Mitigate Risks

6
This document is intended to go through this rich set of functional capabilities and
features in more detail.

7
NCR End to End Self
Service Platform

The NDC Enterprise architecture is based on the NCR End-to-End Self Service
Platform, which encompasses all elements of a consumer journey from the self-
service touchpoints through to terminal driving and access to core services. The
platform also provides multiple service models including self- service, remote
assisted service and enhanced services offering access to core banking services and
digital services beyond the traditional ATM environment.

NCR’s End to End Self Service ATM/ITM Framework

Better customer experience + more efficient cost-to-serve

NDC Enterprise is central to this strategic platform and has the flexibility and
connectivity to provide the perfect on-ramp to this digital-first environment.

• Being able to create new services faster than ever

• Offer services to the right customers at the right time and location
• Link the ATM network to the rest of the financial institution’s ecosystem and 3rd
parties

8
Architecture

NDCe introduces a new component to the ATM Architecture: the ATM Enterprise
server. This server is a key addition to the architecture enhancing the ability to drive
the consumer experience, with the benefit of using standard Web technologies
applied to the ATM domain.
So, the ATM remains connected to the terminal handler or switch for security,
authentication and transactions, however the “presentation” definition or consumer
experience is controlled via the enterprise server. Traditional NDC ATM states and
screens are no longer used.

Global architecture

9
The objective of the solution architecture is to deliver business agility including:
o Modern Touchscreen UI based on HTML5, JavaScript (js) and
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
o Dynamic deployment of services to the ATM through NCR ATM
Enterprise Server, previously known as the Connections server.
o Support for ATM Marketing campaigns including publishing of content
o Capability to integrate with the bank and partners Web Services APIs

In this global architecture, the Terminal Handler remains the key component to
handle:
o Security
o PIN secured transactions
o Interbank transactions (withdrawal, payment)
o Valuable media transactions (check deposit, cash deposit …)

ATM Enterprise server handles:

o User experience (flow and UI)
o Publication of consumer services based on segmentation
o Digital APIs integration when relevant

The ATM Enterprise server opens the capability to integrate with the bank or its
partners APIs. These APIs may have been designed for other channels such as
digital on mobiles or online. However, while this capability is an important asset for
cross-channel capabilities it does not replace the need for a Terminal Handler.

ATM Enterprise is unsuitable when the transaction:

o Requires access to Pinblock and EMV data
o Requires power-fail or rollback

ATM Enterprise is suitable in following situations:

o Retrieve information: consumer data, pdf document, catalog offer…
o To submit data
o Execute “auto commit” transactions

10
N D C E n t e r p r i s e a n d t h e N C R Te r m i n a l H a n d l e r

NDC Enterprise is pre-integrated with the NCR Terminal Handler. Pre-integration

with the NCR Terminal Handler allows the advanced capabilities of NDC Enterprise
to be fully utilized.

The NCR Terminal Handler supports the full set of advanced functionality including
recycling / dual dispense devices, latest security standards (TR31/TR34) and native
deposit.

The flexibility of the NCR Terminal Handler allows all traditional, core and digital
transactions to be integrated using the Terminal Hander. This consistent path for
Transaction management allows both traditional ATM and core integrated digital
transactions that can:
• Accept and dispense any form of valuable media (cash, checks) including
rollback on fulfilment failure
• Utilize EMV, card and PIN data for customer authentication
• Record all transaction and valuable media information for reconciliation,
settlement and balancing

11
The NCR Terminal Handler allows the creation of new transactions, or to extend
existing transactions for new purposes. This customization is accomplished with
configuration and does not require any code change at the Terminal Handler. The
Terminal Handler allows the NDC Enterprise client to provide additional data
enabling the specialization of transactions.

The NCR Terminal Handler also uses configuration to integrate into traditional
transaction processing systems and APIs to allow the support of core integrated and
digital transactions.

12
N D C E n t e r p r i s e a n d T r a d i t i o n a l Te r m i n a l H a n d l e r s

Traditional Terminal Handlers lack the flexibility of the NCR Terminal Handler and
cannot easily adapt to servicing additional transactions or integrations, with little or
no comprehension of digital transactions.
NDC Enterprise provides an additional integration capability to support the addition
of digital transactions.

The ATM Enterprise Server provides “DIBS” and integration capability to bypass the
limitations of the traditional terminal handler to provide enriched data and digital
transactions from the deployers infrastructure.

This integration capability has been designed to allow simple integration to API
based infrastructures to expand the available set of digital transactions or to enrich
existing transactions with additional information.

To maintain the integrity of the traditional terminal handler’s data, the following
limitations exist of the types of transaction that can be supported:

• Cannot impact the Valuable Media (cash, checks) at the ATM or require
rollback in case of a fulfilment failure.
• Cannot handle EMV or Card/PIN validation.
• Cannot provide recording for ATM reconciliation, balancing, settlement, or
dispute resolution

13
The Enterprise ATM software has a foundation of:
o Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System
o NCR XFS platform for NCR hardware,
▪ Vendors respective XFS when operating in a multivendor modality
o EMV and Contactless Kernels

NDCe changes the architecture of the ATM software stack. The essential application
components that deal with device operation and security remain in place installed
on the ATM, but the transaction and consumer service functions as well as the user
experience are placed on an enterprise server that is shared by the whole ATM fleet.
The user experience is published by the server and securely cached on the ATM.

The consumer accesses a browser-based UI, from which commands are passed
through an API interface into the terminal software.

The terminal software then operates the machine. The applications use modern
tools and languages including HTML5 and JavaScript that are aligned to a banks’
current IT infrastructure and staff skill sets. This allows more rapid delivery of
changes and updates and gives banks the option to do configuration or
development of services and transactions in house, or to work with the assistance
of NCR’s Professional Services organization.

NDC Enterprise benefits from the latest Web technologies while ensuring the
highest security on self-service terminals.

14
The ATM becomes a
Digital channel

NDCe enables the ATM to be treated as a digital channel. The NDCe client manages the
hardware and ensures the proper execution of customer services in a multi-vendor context.
The software base in charge of controlling the hardware is inherited from NCR's AANDC
solution. This solution is widely deployed around the world and has demonstrated its
qualities in terms of functional coverage, robustness, security and multi-vendor capability.

With NDCe, the development and publication of customer services benefits from state of the
art WEB technologies, providing an enhanced platform for improved productivity, agility and
quality user interfaces and customer experience.

Finally, NDCe offers a set of tools and services to facilitate the integration of the ATM
channel with the information systems of the bank and its partners.

The ATM, a Specific Channel

Transforming the self-service (ATM) network to be a vital endpoint in a bank’s multi-

channel ecosystem is facilitated by the adoption of Web technologies. However, the
ATM has some channel specific considerations.

NDCe ensures that these are addressed as part of the platform and not a constraint.

• A specific, highly secure user interface: function keys, numeric pin pad
• Complex, secure devices - card reader, dispenser, recycler, statement printer,
EPP, NFC, etc.
• Un-available services may not be presented (i.e. when a device is not
operational)

15
• The transaction must be guaranteed, safe and preserve the quality of the
customer experience
• Terminal configurations may vary depending on supported screen
resolutions, different locations, type of services to be offered
• Different services offered depending on the bank, on user groups (VIPs, card
type, etc.) or depending on the location (Airport, downtown, university, etc.)

This flexibility of ensuring the security and specialists needs of ATMs are addressed
as well as the new modern digital requirements is met through NDC Enterprises’ use
of a hybrid model. With the NDCe client running the ATM and all its specific devices
while the consumer experience: the flow, screens and logic is fully defined on ATM
Enterprise Server.

Web Enabled Client

The NDCe ATM software capitalizes on the NCR AANDC client. Indeed, this terminal
software can be used in a legacy mode (NDC driven) or as a web enabled ATM client.

The NDCe client is a proven multivendor application already running on a wide

variety of vendors around the world.

NDCe is designed to take advantage of leading edge Web technologies while

considering ATM specific aspects such as security, financial device management,
performance, availability, bandwidth protection…

16
All these advantages exist in a multivendor context, everything that has been
outlined above is true of NDCe running on NCR ATMs as well as other vendor ATMs.

The diagram below presents a functional view of the solution.

17
NDC Enterprise and Fast Start

NDCe can be used to create new tailored services in a faster way more agile way,
however it also offers an even more rapid path for a bank to get started by
providing a ready-made best-in-class project as part of the solution.

This is a powerful asset providing a significant start to a customer engagement. This

pre-developed project delivers simpler engagements and deployments, enabling
our customers to go live faster with lower overall PS costs to deliver.

Fast Start Transaction
Details

Balance Enquiry
The Balance inquiry transaction allows consumers to check the balance in a desired
account. The balance can either be viewed on screen or printed on a receipt. Users
can opt to show or hide current and available balances on screen.
Users can also view balances for all their accounts on a single screen.

Withdrawal and Fast Cash

The Cash Withdrawal transaction allows the consumer to withdraw cash from their
accounts. The consumer can choose the amount or use a Fast Cash option. Fast
Cash amounts and receipt options can be set by the consumer in their preferences.
(see later section)

On all NCR devices (S1 and S2 dispensers and GBRU) the number of notes that can
be dispensed for a cash withdrawal transaction is configurable, the default is 40
notes. The application can dispense any denomination and supports up to 7
different denominations. The withdrawal transaction can be configured to limit
maximum dispensable amount or number of notes. The Fast Cash application also

22
supports multi-bundles of notes if more than one bundle is required to reach the
requested withdrawal amount.

Custom Note Mix Selection

Traditionally, ATM note mix has been
dictated by the NDC switch / terminal
handler, which will issue the optimum
mix of notes based on cash levels in
the ATM and the note mix algorithm
set within the switch.

NDC Enterprise provides deployers

with the option to allow notes to be
customized by the consumer. This is
configurable based upon
denominations currently available in
the cassettes.

It features a choice of selection algorithms, as follows:

• Fewest Notes – minimizes the number of notes dispensed

• Recommended Notes – optimizes the note mix, based upon the deployer’s
choice of “primary denomination”
• Maximum Note Varieties – attempts to dispense notes equally from all the
available cassettes
• Customize Notes – requests the consumer to create their own note mix

Many aspects of the note mix feature are configurable, including which options are
offered, and which denomination is designated to be the primary denomination.

If the customer selects ‘Customize Bills’, the application will provide a recommended
mix and allow them to adjust the quantities of bill note denominations that the
system selects for them.

Note: - This will need Terminal Handler support

23
Cash Recycling
NDC Enterprise support cash recycling devices, where cash deposited by consumers
can be re-used for cash dispense transactions. This of course must be configured in
compliance with relevant local or regional regulations regarding the handling
counterfeit and unfit notes.
The consumer experiences and transactions for depositing of cash in a recycling
device, or cash dispense from a recycling device are the same as described above
for cash dispense and intelligent note deposit.

The reconciliation process for dealing with recyclers is different from conventional
cash-in or cash-out devices and so ideally the solution should include NCR’s
Terminal Handler or ATM switches and Terminal Drivers need to be appropriately
configured.

24
Mini Statement and Account History
A Mini Statement or Account History is a summary of a cardholder’s most recent
account transactions. This can be printed on the receipt. Deployers may add a
surcharge for this transaction. The Mini Statement transaction cannot be performed
if the receipt printer is unavailable.
Alternatively, a consumer can browse through their recent account history on the
screen of the ATM. The consumer can scroll through their account using the
touchscreen controls.

Pin Change
The ‘Change PIN’ transaction allows a consumer to change their card PIN. The
transaction is initiated using their current PIN before they then create a new PIN.
The new PIN is then used by the consumer for further ATM transactions.
If the customer cannot enter their current PIN successfully within three attempts or
fails to successfully enter the new PIN within three attempts, a ‘PIN Retries
Exceeded’ message will be shown, and the transaction cancelled.

Cash Deposit
The Cash deposit transaction allows a consumer to deposit a bunch of notes of
multiple currencies and denominations. The consumer is prompted to confirm the

25
deposit once the notes have been inserted and validated. The application does
support the deposit of multiple bunches of notes.
This transaction requires authentication and authorization from the terminal
handler prior to final fulfillment of the deposit.

Cheque Deposit
The Cheque deposit transaction allows a consumer to deposit a bunch of cheques.
The consumer is prompted to confirm the cheques and enter the associated
amounts once the cheques have been inserted and validated.
This transaction requires authentication and authorization from the terminal
handler prior to final fulfillment of the deposit.

If CAR/LAR is used, then there may be no need to prompt the customer to enter the
associated values of the cheques – this will be discerned by recognition software.
CAR/LAR is not included in the Fast Start project but can be added separately as part
of the PS engagement. It is not included as it has country dependencies.

NOTE: - NDCe Fast Start does not support mixed bundles of notes and cheques. The
Deposit of notes and cheques will be done separately but can be done in the same
session through chaining

26
DCC
The DCC transaction is primarily a
terminal handler driven currency
conversion transaction involving the
use of Interactive Transaction
Responses (ITR). The NDCe
application supports the use of ITRs
and the DCC transaction

Payments
NDC Enterprise supports three types of payment transaction:
• Cash Only
• Cheque Only
• Electronic Payment

Payments transactions are typically used to pay funds into personal accounts such
as a savings or loan account, or to pay bills.

- Cash only - the payment is made using cash deposited into the ATM directly.
- Cheque only payment - a cheque is deposited at the ATM and the value of
the available funds in the account to which the check was deposited can be
used to make the payment.
- NOTE that does not imply Instant cheque cashing is available.
Only cleared funds will be available to make the payment, unless immediate
cheque cashing is offered by the Financial Institution running the ATM
network.
- ‘Electronic Payment’ - a consumer makes a payment from a specified
account, such as current or savings to another accessible account such as
credit, loan etc. or directs the funds to pay a Bill.
As stated the list of accounts offered for the ‘Funds Transfer’ is dependent on
configuration properties and what is received directly from the switch/ core.

Funds Transfer and Electronic Payments

The transfer of funds from one account to another is supported. The list of accounts
offered for ‘Funds Transfer’ is dependent on configuration properties and what is
received directly from the switch or core. Funds Transfer and Electronic Payments
may be subject to Anti Money Laundering legislation and individual bank AML
policies. This will limit the amount that can be transferred.
Transaction Chaining
Transaction Chaining allows a consumer to perform multiple ATM transactions
within a session. After completion of a transaction, the consumer has the option to

27
perform another ATM transaction. A receipt with details of all the transactions
performed is printed at the end of the session.

NDCe also supports separate chaining for deposit transactions. This lets the
consumer deposit cheques and cash in sequence or deposit large quantities of
items. The consumer may also change the target account for each chained deposit.

Transaction Chaining is not possible after a withdrawal transaction. In a withdrawal

the Card will be presented prior to cash being dispensed.

QR code-based Cardless Cash

The NDCe transaction set can be initiated using a QR Code with transaction
information translation to the NDC terminal handler requiring some customisation
of the product during customer deployment. This enables a Cardless Cash use cash
to be flexibly and rapidly implemented, assuming there are the relevant end-to-end
server and mobile components in place.

28
NDC Consumer Preferences
Using the NCR ATM Marketing product and associated integration with NDC
Enterprise, Consumer preferences can be stored and then re-applied to consumer
flow based on the card session.

Various consumer preference data points are supported: -

Fast Cash – consumer preferred cash withdrawal amounts can be stored and
retrieved – allowing for a more consumer centric selection

Language – consumer preferred language can be applied without prompting the

consumer to select a language

Receipt Options – Receipt options can be set, stored and retrieved – enabling the
receipt preference to be preset and alleviate the need to ask the customer for a
receipt option

- Paper
- No receipt
- eReceipt
- Always ask

NOTE: - for eReceipt there is a need

for additional customization and
configuration for full end to end
capability. This would be done at
the development and deployment
phase of a customer engagement.

29
NDCe Consumer
Experience / UI

NDCe allows you to present your brand on the ATM screen without compromise.
The User Interface can be quickly and easily styled to match your brand identity.
Significant changes to styling and layout including colors, logos, and text styles can
be made without altering the transaction flow or the underlying software.

The set of configurable features include:

• Logos
• Colours & Backgrounds
• Text Labels & Messages
• Voice Guidance Scripts
• Fonts & Styling
• Transaction Menu Tile
Assignments
• Customized Tile Icons
• Adjustment of shared property
configuration selection affecting
both flow & look

The ATM requires an explicit, secure and efficient experience for the consumer.
The ‘UI’ language/convention needs to be stable, obvious, and consistent.

The Figure below shows a few conventions from the Fast Start user interface.

30
Fast Start UI is based on the latest graphic and presentation technologies. This is a
key factor for flexibility (easy to colorize, resize …) and performance (very light
technologies):

• HTML5 presentation components

• CSS animations
• SVG contents

It also makes it much easier to find the skill sets within your organisation, these are
standard digital channel technologies and skills already being used within the
mobile and online channels.

These conventions
combined with modularity and technical qualities enable a high level of flexibility
when creating new services or modifying global aspects of the UI.

31
Figures below show customizable colors and logo.

33
34
C o n s u m e r S e r v i c e B u i l d e r To o l k i t

The Builder toolkit available as part of the NDC Enterprise platform totally changes
the way consumer services can be created or modified. Where one would expect a
long development effort, requiring in-depth, proprietary technical skills, the builder
will enable a practitioner with a reasonable technical background to create new
consumer services in a much shorter time

The Builder is a graphical editor allowing users to create, manage and

simulate new consumer services without the need for code development.

It does not require a specialist environment or set-up. A practitioner/User can use

their standard browser to access the builder environment.

To enable the User to perform these tasks, the Builder provides an editor with the
following features:

▪ A logical flow editor, for the assembly and simulation of consumer services
using predefined logical components
▪ An Interactions Editor, for the visual editing of interactions and views
▪ An editor to manage languages and labels
▪ The capability to simulate the newly created service

• For more information on the Builder Toolset refer to Appendix D

35
Logical Flow Management

NDCe provides a strong separation between the “consumer service” logic and its
presentation. This means the flow complexity is greatly reduced allowing benefits
both in the development phase and in the maintenance and evolution phase.

The User can easily select a “consumer service” from the left panel, display its flow in
the main central panel and modify it through simple drag and drop of “logical
components” and configuration of their properties. All displayed in a simple
graphical format.

Technically, a “logical component” is a JavaScript file development. When necessary,

the Builder User can import/export logical components into and from a project.

36
Presentation Management

The consumer User Interface UI is fully defined through a graphical interface that
enables the creation or modification of views (listed in the left panel) using drag and
drop of “presentation components” from a library (right panel).

Technically, a “presentation component” is a web component file development: a

collection of HTML, Java Script and CSS properties. The “presentation component”
library is available on the right panel.
It is possible to import/export presentation components into a project to enrich the
library.

Presentation components would include:

▪ Button, Text area, Input box, Carousel etc.

Texts in the User Interface can be “raw texts” or labels.

The recommendation is to use labels to benefit from multilingual management.

Then the screen layout/structure can be unique for several languages.

37
It is possible to preview the screen appearance directly with the desired language
and easily check that the information is presented correctly in all supported
languages.

Label/Language Management

Label management is designed to optimize the multilingual management. This is a

major advantage of NDCe. Where previously with the legacy States and Screens
applications different screens would be required to support every language, now
with NDCe Builder a User can simply define languages and labels that can be used
across the same set of screens.

Each label can be translated in each language.

Languages and labels can be exported/imported in an excel file to optimize the

translation effort outside the builder and for easier management and tracking.

38
Simulation

Once the “consumer service” is created, the Builder also provides the capability to
simulate either a single service or the complete consumer flow. This functionality is
fundamental as it facilitates and simplifies the “heavy lifting” in testing. All the flow
and screens can be tested directly in a workstation running a browser, leaving just
the final Integration and Certification tests to be performed with a real ATM.

39
Consumer Experience

This hybrid model, with the separation of Consumer Flow and Logical Flow
Management enables the design of an ATM User Interface using the same
technologies and freedom as other digital channels such as online or mobile
banking.
▪ The bank can now imagine the best consumer experience rather than
consider the technical constraints of the ATM solution.
▪ Use of HTML5 opens the door for state of art ergonomics, including gesture.
▪ Reuse flows, screens and experiences from other channels such as mobile
banking
▪ Providing a consistent experience for the consumer across all digital
channels including the ATM network.

The following screen views give some examples of what can be offered with NCR
NDCe, but the flexibility of the solution means it is almost limitless:

Swappable menu including a “Favourites” button for fast execution of usual

transactions.

40
List viewer with vertical slider for easy selection

Date picker component, intuitive and easy to use

41
Flexible amount entry options, including customer selectable note mix
(where supported by switch / terminal handler)

Consumer Services Creation

and Orchestration

NCR believes that just as important as the “what” can be achieved with NDCe is the
“how” it is achieved. NDCe is a highly configurable service-based solution utilising
intuitive and powerful tools to help banks reduce development and test cycles.

NDCe has a configuration and development tool called the NDCe Builder.
This is used in the construction and management of the User Experience, from a
central location, both in terms of Screens and Flows (UI), as well as integration with
other systems in the Bank ecosystem through a Web Services interface.

NDCe provides a powerful centralised client-server tool to build, integrate and

centrally publish the flow and screens that will control the complete user experience
of the ATM network known as the ATM Enterprise Server

The solution is entirely developed using modern and open technologies such as
HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, and allows integration of services developed with various
JavaScript technologies like React.

Delivery of new services on a terminals network involves the following main steps:

Service Construction - Building and development of the presentation logic of

consumer service using simple and powerful tools.

Service Integration – Integration with bank internal back office and processing
systems, and external 3rd party services.

Consumer Service Publication - Deliver the service to a highly configurable range

of consumers, considering the segmentation criteria including - which consumer,
which terminal and calendar of when the service will be available

The Enterprise Server is the portal to different services that are offered as part of
the NDC Enterprise platform. Through this chapter we will describe each one.

43
Secure Access

There is secure access to the NDCe services portal which is username and password
driven. The access can be secured using LDAP integration

NDCe services portal includes different functional areas accessible through tabs:

▪ Campaign:- to create campaigns to publish services dynamically

▪ Segmentation: to define terminal and consumer segments
▪ Activity: enables real time tracking of network synchronization, ensuring
consumer services have been successfully deployed to the ATM. It also
includes activity counters, reporting how many times a service has been
used.
▪ Integration: to manage connectors lifecycle exchanging data with the Bank’s
IT as well as the capability to "script" those connectors to simulate the
services
▪ Configuration: to manage the network, ATM groups and to manage
Consumer segments
▪ Administration: for users and role management

44
Services Publication
and Segmentation

Publication and segmentation are key features of NDCe. Once a consumer service is
built and integrated, the bank can decide to whom this service will be available. This
can also depend on where and when this consumer is at the self-service device.

NCR NDCe is designed to deliver personalized services considering:

▪ Consumer Segments
▪ Terminal Segments
o Location,
o Type, Groups
▪ Day, time, calendar

Consumer services can be designed to address a specific consumer group, location,

or time. Each consumer service is made available through the publication feature.

Each publication campaign defines the following criteria:

▪ Set of consumer services

▪ Priority
▪ Start date - end date (possible infinite value)
▪ ATM segment(s) (example: multifunction internal ATMs)
▪ BIN card number ranges (defined in NDCe)
▪ Consumer segments using 1-1 targeted solution such as CRM system

Use cases are numerous but could include:

▪ Offer a “VIP” experience for my premium cards

▪ Publish a charity donation service in 1 week for 2 weeks
▪ A/B Testing of new ergonomics or screens with a restricted consumer group
▪ Sell festival ticket on specific ATMs during the event duration

Publication offers a high level of agility and flexibility to the bank. It becomes very
easy to “start” and “stop” a service, experience it or extend it to a targeted context.

It should be noted that this should not be confused with Software Distribution.
Publication provides the ability to update services including screens from a
centralised enterprise server without the need for a software distribution package.

Publication Dashboard

45
The dashboard provides an “at a glance” view of all published or pending for
publication services campaigns.

By filtering, the user can focus on specific publications or part of the network.

The graphical view is completed by a report view that can be exported.

A user can focus on current time, past or future. It is possible to simulate a

publication and identify which services would be offered on a defined ATM.

Publication Wizard

Using the wizard feature a User can easily create a new service publication. They will
be invited, step by step, to define:

▪ A list of services / transactions

▪ Which Terminal Groups – this could be ALL
▪ Which Consumers / User Groups – this could be ALL
▪ When: define days and hours - this can be ALL
▪ Duration of campaign – this can be infinite

In the example below, the user is publishing a new consumer service:

“Appointment”. This one has been designed using NDCe Builder.

Business decision is to evaluate this new service for 1 month. It should be presented
only to few selected consumers, and only on 4 chosen ATMs. At the end of this

46
experience, depending the usage and feedback, this service might be extended to
all consumers and all branch’s ATMs through a new publication.

Publication Resolution

Publication resolution is defining the list of consumer services that should be

delivered to consumers.

This uses the following criteria:

• Priority
• Consumer segmentation (BIN range or open segmentation)
• Terminal segmentation
• Calendar (day and time of the day)

At execution, when a consumer is authenticating at the ATM, NDCe processes the

publication resolution. As a result, a list of targeted services will be identified and
presented to the consumer.

As an example, all consumers could

access the same cash deposit, but for
a given card, one consumer type
(example: merchant) would access a
different predefined deposit
(example: predefine account, e-
receipt). In this example, only one
consumer service has been published
for a specific segment. All other
services remain the same.

Publication resolution does not

impact performance, it has been fully optimized to consume minimal bandwidth for
a seamless execution on the ATM.

47
NDC Mapping

The Fast Start project includes NDC protocol mapping capability. The NDC mapping
does not use states and screens from the switch, but does use FIT data, opcodes,
and denials as well as interactive transaction responses - ITRs.
Fast Start ensures compatibility with the existing switch.

Fast Start is configured to comply to the current/existing NDC implementation

• State and screens are ignored

o Flow and screens transitioned to full HTML5 presentation
• Transaction messages are identical as they are mapped to the new system

48
Supporting Features and Capabilities

ATM Marketing

NDCe fully supports NCR’s ATM Marketing solution. ATM Marketing offers three
different packages, so no matter what your marketing, communication and
advertising needs are, NCR Marketing will have a package that is right for you.
NDCe supports the ATM Marketing solution as both on-premise and as a SaaS
cloud-based solution.

Segmented Marketing – ATM Marketing Base

Segmented Marketing is available with the ATM Marketing Base package.
Segmentation provides a powerful way to focus what customer groups see a specific
marketing messages based on BINs (card numbers) as well as when and where they
see them. ATM location or hardware type, time of day, and customer BIN number
can all be used to define segments. An additional capability of ATM Marketing base
is the publishing of marketing content from a dedicated server rather having to rely
on traditional software distribution processes to place content on the ATMs.

Targeted Marketing - ATM Marketing Premium

Targeted Marketing is available with the ATM Marketing Premium package, which
also includes all the features of ATM Marketing Base. It enables the display of
unique and relevant messages for specific cardholders at various points during a
transaction flow.
Targeted Marketing Messages can be:
• Event driven – based on specific events; for example, a cardholder’s account
balance reaches a target amount, his house insurance is due, or an investment may
be maturing soon. Events like these can be opportunities to offer additional services
or provide advice to the cardholder.

• Data collection mechanisms – used to gather information from a cardholder; for

example, interactive screens to conduct surveys on new products, or feedback on
current services. Data interaction is achieved via on screen buttons or by placing a
keyboard on screen for customers to enter information such as phone numbers or
address details.
ATM Marketing Premium is delivered on-premise due to the integration with an FI’s
CRM system. Financial institution policy and the capabilities of the back-end CRM
system determine the extent to which Targeted Marketing Messages are
implemented within NDCe.

49
Screen Design and Content
The marketing content can be placed at multiple points throughout the consumer
flow such as idle loop, main menu, please wait and cash dispense. There is a choice
of placements areas on each screen such as banner, left/right hand side or full
screen and static, animation and video are all supported.
NDC Enterprise Fast Start is delivered with predefined communication areas
throughout the transactions flows to make it as simple as possible to get started,
but further customisation is available during the development phase.

50
Marketing Preferences including eReceipts
NDCe supports the ATM Marketing Preferences feature.
• Language Preference
o For both the Consumer transaction screens and marketing messages
o Enables language selection for both on-screen text and audio ADA
voice guidance purposes.
• Fast Cash Preference
o Enables the customer’s Fast Cash amount to be set as a personal
preference, thereby reducing the number of transaction screens and
speeding-up the consumer experience.
• Receipt Preference
o Paper
o No receipt
o Always ask
o eReceipts – if offered

ATM Marketing Base or Premium, provide the option of email or SMS receipts. The
receipt preference determines whether a paper receipt will be printed (or
email/SMS selected) for specified transactions. Email and SMS (Electronic) receipts
will be sent to addresses saved in the customer’s profile.

eReceipt – note for eReceipt there is a need for additional customization and
configuration for full end to end capability. This needs to be performed at the
development phase of the transaction set.

NCR ATM Marketing supports a fully

compliant electronic version of the paper ATM
receipt. The eReceipts solution enables
consumers to choose and save their preferred
receipt type at the ATM, including paper
receipt (default setting), electronic receipt
(choice of email or SMS), or no receipt.
For SMS text receipts or email receipts
customers can input their details and
preferences via their mobile banking
applications. The receipt is then sent via their
channel of choice.
Email receipts also provide the ability to
present marketing messages on the eReceipt.

Interactive Teller –
Video Banking

51
NCR Interactive Teller is a true teller alternative. Your
tellers are available on demand via video and have access
to real-time data, so they can take control of the device to
carry out approximately 95% of the complex transactions
that are typically only available in branch.
For example, accepting cash to pay a bill, authorizing a
withdrawal using authentication without a card,
depositing mixed cash/checks towards business accounts
and updating personal account details. You have added
flexibility on deployment location because the solution
can be installed almost anywhere, such as a banking
vestibule at the airport, in a shopping mall or even as a
drive up placement.
This means that your customers are no longer restricted by your branch opening
hours and you can always remain available, potentially increasing your opening
hours fourfold

This solution enables the migration of transactions to a lower cost channel and
increases teller line productivity, whilst delivering highly personalized and
convenient customer service.

The self-service ATM transactions remain available and unaffected.

The following additional transactions are available in a video assisted format.

Proven Multivendor
Hardware Support

NCR NDCe is based on the ANDC client is the world’s most proven multi-vendor
application.
The RBR multi-vendor market share indicates NCR in first position with 32% of
market share.

52
NDC Enterprise’s multi-vendor
capability, based on CEN XFS,
enables financial institutions and
ATM network to deploy a single
self-service application across a
fleet of ATMs from a variety of
hardware vendors.
CEN XFS provides a common
standard to allow different vendors
to interoperate software and
hardware. It is important to realize
that this is not a “plug and play”
standard.

However NCR has extensive expertise and knowledge in understanding what is

required to ensure a smooth deployment of NDCe across different vendor’s
hardware.
All vendors have a wide range of configurable behaviours in their Operating System
and Platform combinations, and these are continuously changing.
NCR test interoperability on reference configurations of other vendors’ hardware.
This must be considered as a starting point as there is no guarantee that the
reference configuration will always exactly match what has been installed in a
Financial Institution’s network. For that reason, a Professional Services engagement
is required to validate the application on the target hardware prior to deployment.

The following multivendor equipment had been tested with NDCe.

ATM Vendor Reference Configurations Tested

NCR ALL NCR SelfServ 80xx and 60xx
Diebold Nixdorf Opteva Series / Agilis Platform
CS Series / Probase Platform
PC Series / Probase Platform
DN/IX Series / Agilis Platform
Hyosung M-5600 and M-9100
GRG * GRG do not fully conform with the CEN XFS Standard.
Therefore, additional work may be required for full support,
depending on specific units and modules involved.

53
EMV Certification

NDC Enterprise includes NCR’s EMV Exits. This is a platform and vendor
independent solution used within NCR and third-party applications and meets EMV
Level 2 requirements. It is continually refreshed to suit varying global market
requirements. The first EMVCO approval for this software was received in 2001.
Latest EMVCO approvals and configurations can be found on the EMVCO website at
the following location:

https://www.emvco.com/approved-registered/approved-
products/?action=search_products&approved_product_expiration_date=&approved_
product_expiration_date=2021-03-22&px_search=NCR

Accessibility
Standards

NDC Enterprise supports Voice Guidance for visually impaired users, as well as a
rich set of display methods and colour schemes.
In order to comply fully with local accessibility standards, the product must be
configured and customized. We recommend an NCR Professional Services
engagement to ensure that the UI and Flow meet all accessibility requirements for
the respective country.

Contactless
Transactions

NDC Enterprise can be enabled to use contactless technology for session initiation.
This can take the form of contactless cards or a tokenized version such as
contactless mobile payment applications. The latter requires an end to end de-
tokenization solution to be integrated within the terminal handling/acquiring
servers.

Appendix B DIBS further Information

NCR NDCe Services includes an integration layer: the “DIBS” (Data Integration
Business Services) supports the integration of the ATM with the Bank’s backend
systems and core. This integration relies on "Integration Services" administered by
the DIBS (installation, versioning, and activation/deactivation).

The DIBS integration interface is a response to the following challenges:

▪ The need to access different backend servers via heterogeneous

technologies:
o Web services, MQSeries
▪ Evolution of the Bank ‘s IT business services (evolution of contracts)
▪ Data migration
▪ Need to access multiple backend systems for data
o Such as, build a list of products from two different backend servers)
▪ Different processing systems depending on terminal types or depending on
consumer segment
▪ Bandwidth optimization

58
DIBS Integration Portal

The DIBS portal allows the user to manage Integration services:

• Install dynamically Integration services (Connector packages)

• Start / stop Integration services
• Define simulated connectors (scripting)

NDC Enterprise is optimized for operation with Windows 10 however NDCe 2.4.0 will
be supported on Windows 7 ATMs until December 2023.

NOTE: NDCe 02.04.01 is the last release to support Windows 7.

All releases after 02.04.01 will support Windows 10 only.

In common with other ATM hardware vendors, NCR deliver Windows 10 LTSC
(formerly known as LTSB) with new ATMs.
It currently supports Windows 10 LTSB version 1607 and LTSC versions 1809.
Support for Windows 10 21H2 will be delivered in Q3 2023
The supported lifespan of existing Windows 10 version and the anticipated future
releases and their support life are shown in the diagram below.

Note: Moving from one Windows 10 version to another requires a new Windows
license to be purchased.
Microsoft do not allow Windows licenses to be transferred between ATMs or PC
cores.
Customers are not obliged to move to a new version of Windows 10 LTSC as soon as
it is released. Microsoft have provided a 10-year support window and so other
factors such as ATM replacement schedules or PC core support are more likely to
drive a change as follows:
