LIFE @ GBSRC:
Life @ GBSRC
Dr. Snehal Maheshkar, professor at GBSRC welcomed the students in her session and told the
students about the life at campus. She talked about the various activities and events which are
held in the campus and encouraged all the students to actively participate in them. She also
motivated the students to come up with new ideas for events that can be held in the campus and
emphasized on how their managerial skills will be honed while they organize events in the
campus.
To simplify all the administrative tasks an educational ERP software is used that enables
GBSRC to manage Student Administration, Attendance, E-Learning and many more activities.
Dr. Priyanka Bobade an Associate Professor at GBSRC introduced the GBSRC’s ERP to the
students in detail and explained how student can have all information at their fingertips and learn
on the go.
Dr. Harshal Raje, Associate Professor at GBSRC informed the students about the 2 year MBA
program and how the complete teaching pedagogy is designed. He emphasized how GBSRC
prepares a student not only by helping them gain some specialized knowledge but also by giving
them the right tools and techniques which can be applied to different situations and
circumstances to solve any problem. In other words, they don’t have to reinvent the wheel but
instead know how to use the wheel in the best possible manner to solve the problems that they
will encounter in their professional life. GBSRC has adopted a two pronged approach in their
teaching pedagogy:
Learning various concepts, models and theories which will equip students with the basics.
Focus on Case studies and application based usage of tools. This approach is more
associated with learning process at the global level.
This two pronged approach to teaching pedagogy makes learning process at top MBA institutes
more holistic in nature i.e. it covers both theoretical learning as well as the application of
different theories and concepts.
A session on “Case Study Analysis” was conducted by Dr. Shripad Joshi, Associate Professor at
GBSRC. Learning through case studies is definitely an important aspect of Management
Education. This pedagogy of teaching is followed by most sought after business schools around
the world. Students were told about the way they should read and analyze the case, and then
accordingly answer the questions. Students were given a fair overview about the cases and the
mindset required to solve the case.
“Exam and Grade are temporary, but education is permanent”, on this happy note Dr. Babashaeb
Jadhav, Head of Examination Department, explained the complete examination pattern followed
at GBSRC. He informed all that DPU adopts CBCS (choice based credit system) pattern for
conducting exams. The total number of marks are divided into 2 sections equally (Internal:
External). The exam pattern is Internal Exam-Midterm Exam-Term End Exam-University Exam.
There are 2 assignments per subject every semester. Students also got informed that 75%
attendance is compulsory. Finally, he summed up his session by giving the overview of
academic results and grading schemes.
Mr. Rajendra Biniwale gave a motivating session in which he discussed about the placement
opportunities provided by GBSRC. He differentiated between hopeful and deserving, deserving
student will get the placement so every student should spend these 2 years being a deserving
student. He assured students about the placements and told them about the skills and qualities
required. He guided students for doing SWOT analysis on yourself and then accordingly work
on improving yourself. He ended the session by saying, enjoy each phase but just keep it
rational.
Session on Anti-Ragging
Dr. Derek D’souza, Director, Student Learning and Development, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth,
Pune interacted with students. He informed students about the anti-ragging rules and regulations.
He told students that their reputation of being a model student should speak for itself, this is what
mainly matters. He further guided students about the need of communication and being a good
listener. He said that ethical communication is the effective communication.
Anand Munshi, a motivational speaker was invited to the campus to interact with the students of
MBA. He started the session by sharing his career experiences and a “Sholk” from Bhagavat
Geeta. An activity was initiated by him and in that two teams were divided, basically that
activity makes students connect with each other, and many behavioral traits of students were also
recognized by that activity. He guided students on team spirit and confidence. He shared a
formula – ‘Rate of learning should always be greater than the Rate of change’. He had an
influential presence and his energy and enthusiasm was so contagious that everyone felt
energized and positive about their future prospects.
Specialization Heads explained in detail about the courses and course structure of their
specialization and the various job opportunities available. Dr. Sharmishtha Deshmukh gave
information about marketing specialization, Dr. Priyanka Bobade gave information about
finance specialization, Prof. Anu Alex shared information about HR specialization, Dr. Kasturi
Shukla shared information about HHM specialization and Prof. Mandar Brahme gave
information about ABM specialization. It was an interactive session that provided students a
platform to ask their doubts regarding the specialization they choose.
ELOCUTION COMPETITION
An event was organized by GBSRC to commemorate the initiative “Har GharTiranga Abhiyan”.
It was indeed an interesting session. Students put up their thoughts related to patriotism. Through
this, students found a stage to perform and gained more confidence.
Management Games
Though classroom learning is important and cannot be neglected, practicing management
concepts is equally important. It is vital that students are given practical feel of theories that they
have studied. To help candidates gain exposure as to what they are going to encounter in the
corporate world, during the orientation programme Prof. Dhanashri Havale and Dr. Vilis Pawar
arranged Management games so that the future managers can imbibe various techniques to learn
management concepts.
Major objective of these games was to enhance the eye for detail, to improve analyzing skills, to
enable quick decision making, to make students cooperative and ultimately good team players.
Games were organized to enhance the planning, creativity and time management skills. Tower making managem
