• A verb is a word or group of words that shows an action, an event, or
state of being.
• Verbs can either be singular or plural.
• The basic order of words in a sentence is a subject, verb and object.
• The subject and verb must agree with each other.
o A singular verb must be used with a singular subject (one person,
place, thing or idea)
o A plural verb must be used with the plural subject in a sentence.

Singular • Siva plays football every weekend.


(The subject Siva and the verb plays are both in the singular
form.)
Plural • The boys play football every weekend.
(The subject boys and the verb play are both in the plural
form.)
