MAIN PERFORMANCES
5:40- M1 To kickstart the main event this afternoon, may we call on our 1st Performers,
6:00 showcasing a Tradition Filipino Dance – The Tinikling!
M2 One of the most popular folk dances in the Philippines, the Tinikling. It started
during the Spanish Colonization of the Philippines. According to historical
accounts, rice farmers on the island of Leyte set bamboo traps on their fields to
protect them from the tikling birds – where the name Tinikling comes from. The
farmers imitated the movement of the tikling birds as they slyly dodged the bamboo
traps. Some say that this dance represents most Filipinos’ two main character
traits: they are resilient and fun-loving.

rhythm guitar), Buddy Zabala (bass), Marcus Adoro (lead guitar), and Raimund
Marasigan (drums), Eraserheads gained widespread popularity with hits like "Pare

a Philippine dance of colonial-era origin from the Maria Clara suite of Philippine

the couple in a romance scenario. The cariñosa originated in Panay Island and
was introduced by the Spaniards during their colonization of the Philippines. It is
related to some of the Spanish dances, like the bolero and the Mexican dance,
jarabe tapatio, or the Mexican hat dance. Originally, the cariñosa was danced with
María Clara gown and Barong Tagalog for it is a Spanish dance. In addition,
Filipino wore the patadyong kimona and camisa de chino to reveal nationalism. (a
native dress of the Tagalog regions), camisa (a white sleeve) or patadyong kimona

Cordilleran songs that express thanksgiving, worship, and courtship among other
positive themes.
M2 Day-eng is a general term which refer to the ballads sang during different
occasions. The day-eng was sung as alibaby (friendly conversation) during a
peshit. The people who can recite the day-eng were the old folks who understood
the meaning which was profuse with idiomatic expressions. The genealogy of the
host was traded, other important topics regarding the person who gave the cañao
were sung. Blessings to become rich so that he would host a cañao in the future,
hopes for meeting again were expressed in the songs. The aboy was sung to
impress the person who hosted songs. The aboy was sung to impress the person
who hosted the cañao.
M1 Bendian is a circle dance, popular called Bendian, of Ibaloy. This was long known
as a dance to celebrate the arrival of successful headhunters. The circular
