functions following the steps.
3. Apply the lesson in solving real- life situation
II. Subject Matter

B. Review
Solve the right triangle below c = 39cm
and A = 40°

c

b
C A

Given: A = 40°, c = 39cm

Find: B, a, b
b=?

∠𝐵 + ∠𝐴 = 90°
∠𝐵 + 40° = 90°
∠𝐵 = 90° − 40°
∠𝐵 = 50°

C. Motivation
Before we proceed with our new
lesson, we will have first an activity. I
will group you into three (3) groups.
Each group will receive an envelope,
this envelope contains a puzzle the task
you are going to do and a tape. I will
give you five minutes to complete the
task for you to interact and help each
other.

Do you have any questions regarding

our activity? None Ma’am!

Since you are ready, may I ask all the

leaders of each group to come in front
and get the materials. (The leader of each group will get the materials)

Expected Image/ Pictures

Okay class, you may now start doing
1.)
your activity.
The task:
1. Assemble the puzzles to form an image
or a picture then tape it properly.

2.)

TASK:
1. Assemble the picture to form an image or
a picture.
2. Draw a line from the eye of the man to the
top of the building.
3. Draw a horizontal line from the eye of the
man to the building.

3.)

TASK:
1. Assemble the puzzle to from a picture or
an image.
2. Draw a line from the eye of the man to the
top of a tree.
3. Draw a horizontal line from the eye of the
man to the tree.
4. Draw a straight line from the end of the
first line to the end of the second line you
drawn.

Will you please describe you output?

(Student’s answer may vary)
If you are the one on the picture, do you see
any angle?
No Ma’am.

(The teacher draws a broken line to form a

right triangle)

Now class if you are the one stand in front of

the flagpole, do you see any angle?

Yes Ma’am!

So, are you looking the angles above or below

your location?

Above our location ma’am.

Since the angle formed is above your location,

let us call that as angle of elevation.

D. Lesson Proper
Our lesson for today is all about the
angle of elevation. Will you read our
objectives?

Objectives:
1. Define angle of elevation
2. Solve problems in involving angles of
elevation using trigonometric functions
following the steps
3. Apply the lesson in solving real- life
situation.

The first line is the line of sight of the observer

and the second is the horizontal axis.

Horizontal Axis

What kind of figure was formed after drawing

the two lines?

Ma’am a triangle.
Correct! Based on the figure, how will you
define an angle of elevation?

Angle of Elevation- is the angle made with the

horizontal by the line of sight from the observer
to an object on a higher level than the observer.

So, this is what are you going to do. Can you

please read?
(The student’s read the task)

The Task:
1. Paste the figure on the activity sheet
provided to each group.
2. Answer what is asked on the activity
sheet.

I have here the steps on how are you going to

do your activity or how will you solve your
problems.

Can you please read the steps in solving angle

of elevation?
(The student’s read the steps)

The Steps in Solving Angle of Elevation

a. Analyze the problem.
b. Illustrate/ draw the figure
c. Identify the missing part of a right
triangle.
d. Identify the trigonometric functions to
be used.
e. Solve the problem.

Very Good! Now class, let us have another

activity. May I ask all the leaders in each group
to get your figures here in front?

Thank you! I will give you 10 minutes for you

to answer your task. Once you are done you
will post your work on the board.

the board then explain your answer?
Students explain their work

Base on the figure form by group 1. What is

asked on the problem? Ma’am the height of the flagpole.

Correct! What is the given? 80 ft- the distance of the man from the flagpole
26° - angle of elevation
5 ft. – above the ground

Very Good! What part of triangle is missing? Ma’am side a.

Right! Is it correct that we use tangent in

solving the height of the flagpole?

The group 1 got the correct answer. Give 5

claps for them. (Student give 5 claps)

Let us see the work of group 2. Will you report

your work?
The student’s report their work.

How about the given? 30°- the angle of elevation

building

What is asked on the problem? Distance of a man from the building.

Right! What part of the triangle represents the

missing part?
Ma’am side a.

Let us see if the work of group 2 is correct. Student solves the solution of group 2 to check
their work.

Since you already know how to solve the angle

of elevation using trigonometric ratios. Give
your self a round of applause.
(The students clap)

E. Generalization
To sum up our lesson for today.
Let us have a short game, I will show
some questions and you are going to
answer that question in 5 seconds. If
you answer it correctly, we will dance
the “Paro- Paro G” while if you did not
get the correct answer, you will dance
the “Macarena”. Are you ready class? Yes Ma’am

The Questions:
Answers:

Very Good! It seems that you really

understand our lesson for today.

F. Application

Based on your activity, why do you

think we need to study the angle of
elevation? Does it have a purpose in
our life?
Ma’am angle of elevation give purpose in our
life by means of it makes our life easy specially
in determining the height of some objects
without using or making dangerous act.

Correct! How do you get an angle of

elevation? Students answer may vary.
(Looking upward)

(The teacher shows a picture of a man looking

upward)

If you are the man on the picture, what Ma’am a church.

establishment do you see?

Correct! If the man looks upward what figure Ma’am a cross.

you see?

Ma’am it’s all about God.

What is the presentation of the cross?

So, if you have problems in lives to whom you

look or seek for help? Ma’am to our Almighty God.

If we are feeling down always look up to

Right! So, what can you conclude? remember that we have God to lift us and
always our side to help us to reach our goals or
ambition in life.
