JOB DESCRIPTION
Financial Accounting Manager (1) Chief Financial Officer Key Results Areas Develop strategic plans for the financial accounting operations Implement the long-term strategy for the financial accounting function and ensure alignment of all activities undertaken in the unit to the strategy Provide sound input into reviewing organizational activities and assist in recommending corrective actions if necessary Contribute towards long-term forecasts and predictions (2-5 years) Analyse trends and highlight areas of the business that may be developed further Translate the strategic plan for the financial accounting unit into operational implementation plans, and drive the execution thereof Align operational targets to business strategy Consider the long term (1-2 years) implications of actions on the viability of the business from a more broad perspective Consider the impact of solutions on other areas of the business, as well as the interdependency of units Drive best practice, continuous improvement and innovation at process and procedure level within the Financial Accounting unit Construct, implement / fine-tune methods, processes / systems to enhance effectiveness / meet organizational goals
Purpose of Job To define, control and manage the finance and accounting functions effectively, accurately and reflect the financial status of the company
Consider local conditions, as well as competitor activity to create competitive advantage Manage resources (people, finances and products), taking local conditions into consideration Manage the Companys short term liquidity with the objective to maximize return on investment Contribute to financing the Companys long term capital requirements Ensure that adequate cash management and liquidity practices are entrenched in operations Provide management with advise on all financial matters/implications, adequacy of funds, cost saving measures, planning and appraisal of options and credit facility policies Forecast, plan, develop and review budget for the Financial Accounting business unit that provides Zamtel with return on investment, Manage and optimize the budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with the agreed budgets Monitor costs and determine initiatives to optimize resources. Ensure cost effectiveness by maximizing cost/benefit ratios Identify areas where money is lost and seek ways to reduce expenditure Identify opportunities to generate additional revenue Base annual budgets on the identification of trends and patterns within the current operations and extrapolate these over the next planning cycle, taking any known changes in new products or services Prepare financial year end accounts and furnish the same to the Auditors ensuring that these fairly and truly reflect the financial status of the division Liaise with the companys internal and external auditors to ensure effective auditing of the Companys accounts and respond to queries raised 1 Qualification A first degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Banking and Finance, or full ACCA or CIMA. A post graduate degree in Business Administration, Economics or Banking and Finance will be an added advantage
2 Statutory Requirements Must be a member of the ZICA 3 Experiences Minimum of 5 years of related experience At least 3 years in a middle management level position management position
