Part 3 Reflection
Part 3 Reflection
In a word document, follow the prompts and answer the following questions:
2. What are your thoughts about how some countries may not have enough resources to obtain
or have access to clean drinking water?
Drinking clean, un-contaminated water should be a right for all people. Around the world, many
communities with harsh weather conditions and have to go through immense journeys, which include
extreme climates, steep land or rocky terrain to get limited, unfiltered water. All of these factors that
add up to the result of families receiving little to no water is appalling. Clean water should be
accessible to all communities so this should be a priority for all countries.

b) What do you think is/are the main issue(s) for clean water scarcity in the world? Why?
The main issues that result in our scarcity of clean water is the weather, the government and the water
system. The weather is an important factor to consider when discussing the water scarcity. This is
because the barren and dry areas in the world are exposed to extreme heat which causes majority of
the water to evaporate. However, the government should be providing accessible water filters to all
communities which brings me to the next main issue, the government. The governments should be
allowing all areas of the country to have accessible, clean water. The lack of clean water systems
causes the water to get infected with bacteria resulting in diseases and health hazards. In conclusion,
the barren dry lands, the governments priorities and unclean water systems lead to water scarcity.
4. Can we solve our global water shortage problems? Why or why not?
The issue can be solved if many people work on local sized projects. The countless number of issues
of contaminated and dirty water around the globe is fixable. The amount of pollution that has dirtied
our water sources, (ocean, lakes, rivers etc.) is one of the main reasons that countries are getting
unclean water. We can solve the cleanliness of the water by polluting less rubbish and we can solve
the issue of accessing water by locally installing filters and pumps. Looking at this global issue as
many small problems, with “mini” solutions, can make solving this, much more affordable and easier
to accomplish.
UNIT 3: EVERYDAY MATERIALS MIXING AND SEPARATING
5. After watching the videos above, how do you feel about living in Australia where access to
clean water is not an issue?
Australia having access to clean water around most areas of the country, makes me feel grateful. The
government provides households with clean water by using highly functional water filters and these
filters are thorough and complex allowing no bacteria to enter. Filtered water is given to us easily by
just turning on the tap, many other countries have to travel by foot to get unfiltered, dirty and infected
water. Developed nations may even have bacteria-infected tanks, wells and/or pipes that contaminate
the water. We are privileged to have functional water filters and pristine system that allows easy
access to drinkable water.
