In response to the escalating conversation surrounding sustainability and the


overlooked environmental impact of traditional pet care products, particularly
disposable dog diapers, Furrfect Companions proposes to introduce reusable dog
diapers as an eco-friendly alternative. The Real Diaper Association highlights the
detrimental effects of disposable diapers on the environment, emphasizing the
urgent need for sustainable solutions. Furrfect Companions aims to address this
issue by offering reusable dog diapers, which not only contribute to environmental
preservation but also provide long-term economic savings and personalized fit for
different dog breeds.

Furrfect Companions, a general partnership company, is dedicated to


providing innovative pet care solutions with a strong emphasis on quality,
sustainability, and animal welfare. Operating through both business-to-consumer
and business-to-business models, the company targets pet stores, online platforms,
and environmentally-conscious pet owners, particularly those aged 19 to 30 residing
in the Philippines.

Market research indicates a growing demand for reusable dog diapers, with
the washable segment projected to experience rapid growth. Through surveys,
Furrfect Companions aims to understand customer preferences regarding size,
quality, purpose, and pricing, ensuring the development of a product that meets and
exceeds market expectations. Notably, 93.3% of the target market expressed interest
in purchasing reusable dog diapers, provided they meet their budget and quality
standards.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Over the past few years, the conversation regarding sustainability has gained
popularity in various aspects of our lives. A lot of things have been talked about
however, one often overlooked topic is the environmental impact of pet care.
Specifically, the traditional usage of dog disposable diapers is one of the main
causes of waste in landfills, which is why alternative solutions need to be carefully
considered. According to the Real Diaper Association, “The main problem with
disposable diapers is that they’ve been found harmful to the environment. Each year,
millions of tons of disposable diapers go into landfills and they don’t break down
easily there.” (Real Diapers Association, 2024)

As a pet owner, we are responsible for thinking about the sustainability and
eco-friendly solutions associated with pet care. That is why we have come up with
the idea of providing a solution to this problem that we are facing today as a pet
owner and as a concerned citizen who cares about the carbon footprint that we all go
through each day of our lives by making sure that we are at least minimizing it
through the product that we are developing. Pet diapers are becoming a necessary
accessory for responsible pet ownership as the pet industry develops. They address
hygiene issues and help create a healthier and more enjoyable living environment for
both pets and their owners. (HTF Market Intelligence, 2023).

The purpose of this proposal is to launch a business that makes and sells
reusable dog diapers as an environmentally responsible substitute for single-use

products. These diapers offer long-term economic savings, environmental benefits,


and a personalized fit for different dog breeds. They are also effective in controlling
urinary tract infections, heat, and mobility concerns. The purpose of this proposal is
to launch a business that makes and sells reusable dog diapers as an
environmentally responsible substitute for single-use products. These diapers offer

One of the reasons why we have come up with this product is because of the
rising demand for reusable dog diapers nowadays because there are a lot of benefits
from it not just for the dogs but for the owner as well. In fact, from 2023 to 2030, the
washable segment is predicted to grow at the fastest CAGR of roughly 10.0%.
Washable diapers are more environmentally friendly than disposable diapers
because they produce less waste overall (Research and Markets, 2023). The
suggested business plan covers the market potential, production processes,
marketing strategies, and projected costs for a successful reusable dog diaper
business that aims to satisfy pet owners' needs and advance environmental
sustainability. With the provision of creative, high-caliber, and client-centered
solutions, the business hopes to make a significant environmental difference and
carve out a niche for itself in the pet care sector.

stores, and local shelters. As we expand our product line and reach new markets,

to-business models, selling directly to retailers, wholesalers, and pet owners. Our
Target market includes pet stores, online platforms, and owners seeking affordable
innovative pet diaper options. We believe in making a positive social impact by
addressing poverty, contributing to economic growth, and promoting sustainability.

Our company logo is in the shape on a paw because this depicts that we are
a company focused on dogs. We paired it with different vibrant colors that woule be
easy in the eyes. The three dogs in different sizes symbolizes that we accomodate
all dogs no matter the size and breed. We are dedicated to pursuing change in the
diaper industry by showing that we truly care for all pets. The Furrfect logo offers a
vivid glimpse into the aspirations of pet owners to ensure their furry companions'
utmost comfort and happiness.

As the demand for dog needs rises, events and enterprises like hotels, spas,
and parks are opening for business (Business World, 2023). This indicates that pet
care needs like dog diapers will also experience significant growth.
The dog diaper industry revolves around the manufacturing and sale of
diapers designed specifically for dogs. These diapers serve various purposes,
including managing urinary incontinence, controlling female dogs' heat cycles,
assisting with house training, and providing temporary protection for dogs recovering

from surgery or injury. In the Philippines, many of its citizens treat their pets like their
own kids, in an interview with dog owners by Business World (2023), one family
spent as much as 30,000 php every month to sustain the needs of their dogs and
Statista reports that almost three out of ten pet owners in the Philippines spend
approximately five hundred pesos ($9) a month on their pets (Buid, 2023). Relative to
this, the Philippines is ranked top (67%) in terms of dog ownership according to a
Rakuten poll. People go to malls, parks, and travel with their dogs, and they prioritize
their comfort and safety. Dog diapers play a significant role in making this possible
There are many different types of dog diapers available, including washable
cloth diapers, reusable diaper covers with washable inserts, and disposable diapers.
To fit dogs of different kinds and sizes, they are offered in a range of sizes. Typically,
soft, absorbent materials that are comfortable for dogs to wear are used to make dog
diapers. To guarantee a tight and secure fit, they frequently have movable straps or
fasteners. To keep spills from contaminating the surrounding area, some designs
also include leak-proof barriers.
While dog diapers may not have a deep historical connection in the
Philippines, their emergence and adoption reflect broader trends in pet care
practices, urbanization, and lifestyle changes in the country. DZBS Baguio News
(2021), has also reported the mandatory wearing of dog diapers inside
establishments to promote responsible pet care. Hence, as pet ownership continues
to rise and pet care standards evolve, dog diapers will likely become more prevalent
in Filipino households given that some cities also require them.

made from soft fabrics (e.g., cotton fabric, microfiber fabric, and PUL fabric)
that feels warm and light against your dog’s skin. These materials also make
sure that your dog is at ease while wearing the diaper, which helps to avoid
any irritation or discomfort. It also allows dogs to move freely and feel
maximum comfort throughout the day.

1.2 Adjustable Fit and Flexible Sizing: Furrfect Companions’ reusable dog
diapers come in many sizes (e.g., extra small, small, medium, large, extra
large) and they have velcro straps and a stretchable garter that can be
adjusted which makes the diapers fit in all sizes and breeds of dogs.

a tail hole for the dog's tail and use a Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) fabric
which prevents and stops any leakage that keeps dogs dry and comfortable.

CHAPTER 2: MARKET STUDY

Market Analysis
Furrfect companion’s target market is mainly pet owners aged 19 to 30
residing in the Philippines. We have selected this market as they are the ones who
commonly go to public places like malls, parks, and other entertainment areas with
their pets. This age range has been selected based on the survey that was
distributed to dog owners in the Philippines. Additionally, based on our survey, this
age range has the highest number of dog owners who use pet diapers and are most
interested in using reusable ones. They are the ones who can greatly benefit from
our product as it will be reusable and will come in handy all the time.

Additionally, our survey will also help us figure out the demand for the sizes,
quality, purpose, and pricing for our proposed product. For the sizing, we have
created five options which are extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large.
Based on our survey, 44.4% of Filipino pet owners have a medium-sized dog
followed by small sized dogs at 28.3%. This gives us an idea that the demand for the
product will be higher on small and medium sizes. Our questionnaire also helped us
to figure out the main purpose of using pet diapers which is traveling with the pets.
Accordingly, what pet owners expect from reusable diapers is its leakage protection
as well as its fit and comfort for the pets. This will help us create a product that will
not just satisfy what our market is looking for but will also exceed their expectations.
Furthermore, this survey showed that our target market is willing to spend 50 php to
200 php for a reusable diaper which is the exact price range of what we offer. Lastly,
the survey shows that 93.3% of our target market are interested in buying reusable
dog diapers if it fits the budget and the quality that they are looking for. This will give
us more advantage into knowing and understanding what the target market expects
from our products.

In order to reach our target market, our product will be distributed around the
Philippines through local couriers as our products will be posted on various online
platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Instagram, and Facebook. This will
help us reach consumers anywhere in the Philippines while also lessening our
operational cost.

steady yearly rise, with the target market of 67% and the proportion of buyers being

capable of making a purchase is estimated through dividing the number of people
according to the target market by the percentage of customers capable of making a
purchase, whereas the individuals depending on the target market is estimated by

The projected sales for reusable dog diapers have shown promising growth trends
over the years. Analyzing the data from 2022 to 2026, it is evident that both supply
and demand have been on the rise consistently. In 2022, the total demand for these
diapers was an impressive 429,530,000 units. This translates to about 1,176,795
orders per day, calculated by dividing the total demand by the typical number of days
in a year, which is 365. As expected, such high demand leads to significant sales
figures. Sales are predicted to reach a remarkable ₱91,275,162,370, highlighting the
strong market demand for this product. Over the following years, sales are expected
to continue rising, with anticipated sales reaching 100,256,589,620 in 2023,
110,121,841,375 in 2024, 120,957,865,745 in 2025, and finally, 132,860,063,875 in
2026.

provides all the raw materials needed to make the reusable dog diapers. But just in
case the primary supplier cannot provide some of the materials, Furrfect
Companions also work with other suppliers namely A-25 at Dragon 8 Mall, Natty
Fashion Unlimited, and BC11 at 999 Mall. This way, Furrfect Companions can make

majority of respondents (44.4%) said their pets are medium-sized, with small-sized pets
coming in second at 28.3%. 7.6% of respondents said they had extra-small pets, compared
to 15.9% and 3.8% for large and extra-large pets, respectively. This distribution provides
information about the wide range of sizes that pet owners have.

The poll asks respondents if they frequently use disposable dog diapers, offering a "yes" or

significant impact; 40% of respondents said that they appreciated how easy and practical
reusable solutions were. However, 37.2% of respondents admitted that they don't use
reusable diapers, which suggests that they have different tastes or use different methods. To
further highlight the significance of pet welfare in decision-making, 29.3% of respondents
stated that their pets' health was a deciding factor. The combined results of these studies
highlight the wide range of variables affecting the changing decisions of pet owners.
