SETTING GOALS FOR SUCCES

Goals are things you want to achieve.

They give you a clear target to aim for
and help you stay focused and
motivated. Goals can be about anything
you want to do, like improving your
health, learning something new, or
advancing in your career.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS

Specific: Clearly state

what you want to do.

Measurable: You can

track your progress.

Achievable: Possible to do within

your abilities and resources.

Relevant: Important and

meaningful to you.

Time-bound: Has a deadline.

ALBERT BANDURA’S SELF EFFICACY

your ability to succeed in
specific tasks or situations. It

FIXED MINDSET:
Belief: Abilities and intelligence are static
and cannot change.
Characteristics:
Avoids challenges to avoid failure.
Gives up easily when faced with obstacles.
Sees effort as fruitless or a sign of lack of
ability.
Ignores useful negative feedback.
Feels threatened by the success of others.
Outcome: Limits potential and leads to
plateauing in achievements.
GROWTH MINDSET:
Belief: Abilities and intelligence can be
developed with effort, learning, and
persistence.
Characteristics:
Embraces challenges and sees them as
opportunities to grow.
Persists in the face of setbacks.
Sees effort as a path to mastery.
Learns from criticism and uses it to improve.
Finds inspiration in others' success.
Outcome: Fosters a love of learning, resilience,
and continuous improvement.
IMPLICATIONS OF MINDSETS:

Learning and Achievement:

Students with a growth mindset perform

better academically because they
believe they can improve through hard
work and learning from mistakes.
Those with a fixed mindset may avoid
difficult tasks and miss opportunities to
learn and grow.
IMPLICATIONS OF
MINDSETS:
Behavior and Motivation:
A growth mindset encourages taking
on new challenges, trying new
strategies, and seeking help when
needed.
A fixed mindset can lead to avoiding
situations where one might fail,
thereby limiting potential and learning
opportunities.
HOW TO DEVELOP A
GROWTH MINDSET:
1. Embrace Challenges: See challenges as opportunities
to learn and grow rather than as threats.
2. Learn from Criticism: Use constructive criticism to
improve rather than taking it personally.
3. Celebrate Effort: Focus on the process of learning and
the effort you put in, not just the outcome.
4. Persevere: Keep trying even when things are tough,
knowing that effort leads to improvement.
5. Be Inspired by Others: View others' successes as
inspiration rather than as competition.
PRACTICAL
APPLICATIONS:
Education: Teachers can foster a growth
mindset by praising effort, strategies, and
progress rather than just natural talent or
intelligence.
Workplace: Employers can encourage a
growth mindset by creating a culture that
values learning, development, and resilience.
Personal Development: Individuals can
cultivate a growth mindset by setting learning
goals, seeking feedback, and reflecting on
their learning process.
