TECHNOLOGY Presentation On Sikkim Sikkim: The land of Paradise
Sikkim is a unique blend of different customs, religion
and traditions of different communities. Sikkim was occupied by three tribes, namely, the Lepchas, the Bhutias and the Nepalese. Recently, people have flocked over from the entire country and many bangalis, Punjabis and Biharis have settled in to set up travel and construction businesses. A fusion of many cultures can be spotted but the state has remained exceptionally friendly and peaceful. CLIMATE OF SIKKIM
Sikkim’s geographical location with its altitudnal
variation allows it to have tropical, temperate and alpine climate conditions within its small area of 7,096 kilometres. Temperate conditions vary from sub tropical in the southern lower parts to the cold deserts in the snowy north. Rainfall is heavy and well distributed during months from May to early October. July is the wettest month in the most places. The highest rainfall may exceed 5000mm. The Taste of Sikkim
The traditional food of Sikkim is called
Sikkimese cuisine. The cuisine is blend of Tibetan, Nepal and Lepcha dishes which comes from various ethnic tribes and communities of Sikkim. Organic vegetables like iskus, pharsi, pharsi ko munta etc. Are extensively used in day to day menu. Locally fermented beverage such as Arra and Chaang/ Tongba also compliments the Sikkimese cuisine. Flora and Fauna of sikkim Sikkim is a home of around 5,000 species of flowering plants, 515 rare orchids, 60 primula species, 36 rhododendron speices, 11 oak varieties, and over 900 medicinal plants. The fauna of Sikkimbinclude the snow leopard, 80 Musk deer, himalayan tahr, red panda, Himalayan Marmot, himalyan serow, himalayan goral, binturong etc.Yaks are mainly reared for their milk, meat and a beast of burden. ART AND CRAFT OF SIKKIM There are plenty of art forms of Sikkim. The bulk of people of the state belong to rural areas and they have their old tradition of making several utility objects. One of the most popular handicraft objects of Sikkim includes a choksee table, woolen carpet, canvas wall hanging, thankas delineating painting on various aspects of the state. The handmade carpets and papers of the state are in huge demand in and outside of Sikkim. Music and dance of sikkim
Folk songs and dances are an inveterate
part of the Sikkimese culture. Most of the tribal dances depict the harvest season and they are performed for prosperity. The dances of Sikkim are accompanied by traditional musical instruments, chanting and the dancers carry bright costumes and traditional masks.
