FORM TWO TRANSFORMATION GRAPHS.


1. i) On a graph plot the points A (1,1) B (2,2), C (5,1) and D (4,0). Join the points with
straight lines. (2marks)

ii) On the same axes, locate and plot the points A1B1C1D1 the images of ABCD under an
enlargement center at the origin and scale factor – 2 (2marks)

iii) Draw the quadrilateral A1B1C1D1 and state the co-ordinates of its vertices. (2marks)

iv) Locate and plot points A11B11C11D11the images of ABCD under a rotation of + 900 about
the origin. Hence draw the quadrilateral A11B11C11D11 (3marks)

v) State the co-ordinates of A11B11C11D11 (1mark)

2. Plot triangle A B C in the Cartesian plane given. A (2,2) B (5,2) and C (2,5) (1mark)

(i) Reflect it in the line y = 0 and state coordinate of A1B1C1. (3marks)

(ii) Enlarge A1B1C1 by scale factor -2 and plot it and state coordinates of A11B11C11

(iii) Rotate ΔABC about +1800 and state coordinates of A111B111C111 (2marks)

3. (a) The points A (2, 6) B (1, 1), C (3, 4) and D (5, 3) are vertices of a Quadrilateral
ABCD. Plot the points A, B, C and D on the graph paper and join them to form a
quadrilateral.

(a) Locate and write down the coordinates of the points A’, B’, C’ and D’ The images
of A,B,C and D respectively under rotation of positive 900 about the origin. On
the same grid draw the image of the quadrilateral A’B’C’D’. (3Marks)

(a) Locate and write down the coordinates of the points A’’, B’’, C’’ and D’’ which are
images of A’, B’, C’ and D’ respectively under reflection in the 𝑥- axis. On the same
grid draw the second image quadrilateral A’’B’’C’’D’’. (3Marks)

(b) Quadrilateral A’’B’’C’’D’’ is the image of ABCD under a reflection. On your graph
mark the mirror line MM of this reflection and state its equation. (2Marks)

4. Triangle PQR has vertices P (3,2) Q (-1,1) and R (-3,-1).


(a) Draw PQR on the grid provided. (1mark)

(b) Under a rotation the vertices of P1Q1R1 are P1 (1,4), Q1 (2,0) and R1(4,-1). Find the
center and angle of rotation using points P and Q. (4marks)

(c) Triangle PQR is enlarged with scale factor 3 center O (0,0) to give triangle P2Q2R2.
Draw triangle P1Q1R1 and state its co-ordinates. (2marks)

(d) Triangle P2Q2R2 undergoes reflection in line y = -x to give triangle P3Q3R3. Draw
P3Q3R3 and state its coordinates. (3marks)

5. A triangle whose vertices are A (1,4) B (2,1) and C (5,2) is given the following
transformation:

(i) Reflection in the line y = - to A1B1C1
(ii) A¹B¹C¹ is then given rotation of + 90o about the origin to A¹¹B¹¹C¹¹

(iii) A¹¹B¹¹C¹¹ is then given a translation vector 1 to A¹¹B¹¹C¹¹.

(iv) A¹¹B¹¹C¹¹ is then given an enlargement scale factor – 2 centers (0, 0) to A1V

On the given grid plot a triangle ABC and its images A¹B¹C¹, A¹¹B¹¹C¹¹, A¹¹¹B¹¹¹C¹¹¹
and A1VB1VC1V. And give coordinates of A1VB1VC1V.
