Subject: INSTRUMENT PANEL ADDITIONAL WIRING - LEFT SWITCH

Models: 1199 PANIGALE (all model versions, all country versions)

• SITUATION
This service bulletin follows the Tips&Tricks No.63 concerning partial operating
failures of 1199 Panigale left switch.
Only if this operating failure is detected, an additional wiring Part No.51029281A
must be installed; under these circumstances, it will thus NO LONGER be necessary
to replace the instrument panel.

Note: This service bulletin is not a product update campaign; this service
operation will have to be carried out ONLY if the Customer reports the above-
mentioned faulty operation.

• INVOLVED BIKES
We would like to inform you that the instrument panel hardware has been modified
starting from the frame serial numbers listed in the table below in order to prevent
this possible malfunction. Only the bikes having an older serial number could require
the installation of the additional wiring.

• SERVICE SOLUTION
To install the additional wiring part no.51029281A onto vehicle, proceed as follows:

1) Remove ignition switch cover and LH conveyor cover (sections 05 and 08 of

workshop manual);

2) Remove the three retaining ties; the large tie (1), the small tie (2), and the
button tie (3) L=62 mm.

3) Disconnect the following wirings:

• Wiring branch connector for GPS (4) and cap (5);

• Left switch wiring branch connector (6) and left switch cable (7);

4) Apply the first 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro (9A) at the bottom of the additional
wiring module (8); thoroughly clean the mating surface with degreaser.

The 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro (9A) has to be positioned at the distance shown
in the figure below:

5) Apply the second 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro (9B) inside headlight fairing left-
hand inner compartment; thoroughly clean the mating surface with degreaser.

Velcro (9B) has to be positioned at the distance shown in the figure below:

6) Position the module present on additional wiring (8) onto Velcro (9B),
respecting the distance of 50 mm from inner profile (12).

7) Restore wiring connections as follows:

• Left switch wiring branch (6) with connector (10A) on additional wiring;

• Left switch cable (7) with connector (10B) on additional wiring;

• Cap (5) with connector (10D) on additional wiring;

• Wiring branch for GPS (4) with connector (10C) on additional wiring;

8) Restore wiring fasteners as follows:

• Insert large tie (1) inside left-hand electrical component support; secure
left switch cable (7), main wiring front branch (11) and wiring branch
for GPS (4) (after bending the latter as shown in the figure below).

• Bend, as shown in the figure, additional wiring central section;

• Join the additional wiring branch for module connection to the previously
bent additional wiring;

• Finally, bend the additional wiring branch connected with cap as shown in
the figure, and join it to the other cables.

• Secure the joined cables with button tie (3) L=62 mm you had previously
removed;

9) Insert the small tie (2) so as to lock in place left switch main wiring
connection (6) to additional wiring and main wiring front branch (11).

10) Refit LH conveyor cover and ignition switch cover (section 05 and 08 of
workshop manual);

11) Start vehicle and check, in the following sequence, for the correct operation of:
• Instrument panel menu displaying and scrolling with Riding Mode selection;
• Horn;
• Right and left turn indicators;
• High beam light.

• SPARE PARTS
Additional wiring part no., including 2 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro stickers, is 51029281A.

• WARRANTY
Additional wiring part no. 51029281A installation reimbursement will be issued
through the standard warranty claim procedure via the DCS.

We remind you that this update is NOT listed in the DCS VEHICLE HISTORY, but a
NEW WARRANTY CLAIM has to be filled in following the procedure illustrated
below (warranty will be automatically pre-filled).

The above described procedure has been coded as follows: CR096.

Labour time that will be reimbursed for this update and for filling in the warranty
information is 24 minutes (4 labour units).
