Cell Lesson Plan
Cell Lesson Plan
CONTENT STANDARD:
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the difference between animal
and plant cells.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners should be able to employ appropriate techniques using the
compound microscope to gather data about very small objects.
I. LEARNING COMPETENCIES
The learners should be able to to:
S7LT – IId – 4 Differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence or
absence of certain organelles.
S7LT – IIe – 5 Explain why the cell is consider the basic structural and functional
unit of all organism.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
1. Identify the presence and absence of certain organelles in plant cell and
animal cell using the designed model.
2. Observe and differentiate the animal and plant cell in the presence and
absence of organelles under the microscope.
3. Recognize that cell is the basic unit of all organisms.
A. DAILY ROUTINE
Prayer
May I request everybody to stand for Our Father, Who art in heaver, Hallowed
our opening prayer Mike, kindly lead be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy
the prayer. will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And
forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive
those who trespass against us. And lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. Amen.

Yes, Jhana
Ma’am!
That’s also correct!
Plant Cell
Now, what do you think will be our
topic for today?
Yes, you are right, but your answer Ma’am, I think our topic for today is all
is getting there. about cell.
Who else?
Yes, Ashley
Ma’am
You got the answer! Very good!
Plant Cell and Animal Cell
Class, do you think there’s a
difference between plant and animal
cell?
Activity
Group 1 Task:
Directions: Using the picture of animal
and plant cell, make two columns and
label the first column “Animal Cell” and
the second column “Plant Cell”. Write in
the column the similar parts of the cells.
Write your answer on the provided
manila paper.

Group 2 Task:
Directions: Using the picture of animal
and plant cell, make two columns and
label the first column “Animal cell and
the second column “Plant cell”. Write in
the column the parts of the cells that the
other cells do not have.

the comparison of plant and animal
cells and in the middle write the
similarities of cells.

Guide Questions:
Abstraction
Why do you think so? Yes, Carmela It’s because there are organelles that only
present in animal cell and only present in
plant cell.
Very Good! Is there any other
answer? Yes, Janina Some of their organelles are big and
small.
Absolutely!
What are the organelles that only
present in animal cell? Yes, Jenny Cell Membrane, Lysosome, Ribosome,
Golgi Apparatus, Mitochondria,
Endoplasmic reticulum, Cytoplasm,
Vacuole, Nucleus, Nucleolus, Nuclear
membrane
Very Good! So why do you think
Plant cell and animal cell have the
same organelles? Yes, Cherish Because all organelles have their own
function in each cell.
How do you say so? Yes, Adriel Because they differ in shape, the animal
cell looks like square while plant cell is
circle.
Very Good! What else? Yes, Angel They are differ in color, animal cell is
brown while the plant is green because of
the plastids.
Very Good! So animal and plant cell
differ in color, shape and organelles.
Application
A. Animal Cell
Materials:
Toothpick or Cotton buds
Slide with cover slip
Water
Microscope
Iodine
Procedures:
1. Place a small drop of iodine
onto a clean slide.
2. Using a toothpick or cotton
buds, gently scrape the inside of
your cheek. As you scrape,
slowly twirl the toothpick or
cotton buds on your cheek in
order to cover all sides of the
toothpick with cells.
3. Place the toothpick tip into the
iodine and mix. The iodine
stains the cells so that you can
see them.
4. Place the slide under low power
(4x). Draw what you see in
Figure D.
5. Switch to high power (40x).
Draw 2 or 3 cells in Figure E.
Label the nucleus, cell
membrane, and cytoplasm.
Figure D Figure E
B. Plant Cell
Materials:
Onion skin
Iodine
Microscope
Slide with cover slip
Procedures:
1. Remove a small piece of the
inner surface of an onion
skin.
2. Place the piece of onion skin
on a slide.
3. Cover the piece of skin with a
drop of iodine.
4. Place a cover slip over the
onion skin.
5. Observe under lover power
(4x). Change to high power
and observe the onion skin.
6. Draw the cells of the onion
skin under low power in
Figure D and high power in
Figure E.
7. Label the parts of one cell.
