I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:
a. recognize situations that depict prejudice and bias;
b. presented the difference and similarities of prejudice and bias through Venn diagram; and
c. appreciate and value the uniqueness of one's life by avoiding being prejudiced and biased towards
others.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text types serve as means of
preserving unchanging values in a changing world; also, how to use the features of a full-length play, tense
consistency, modals, active and passive constructions direct and indirect speech to enable him/her competently
performs in a full-length play
B. Performance The learner competently performs in a full- length play through applying effective verbal and non-verbal strategies

IV. PROCEDURES PRELIMINARIES
The teacher will start with a prayer.

Greetings
Checking of attendance – The teacher will check the attendance.
After setting the mood, the teacher will also set the standard to ensure smooth conduct of the classroom activities.
1. Treat others with respect at all times.
2. Listen attentively when someone is talking.
3. No phones are allowed during the class meeting unless you are told to do so.
4. Raise your hand before speaking or leaving your seat.

Motivation Session:
The teacher will present different statement and will let the students guess whether it is prejudice or bias. The
students will be provided two flags; Prejudice and Bias.

Prejudice is a preconceived opinion that you have based on no reason or actual experience or a multitude of
experiences for the specific group or individual.
 An individual may be prejudiced against others based on factors such as race, age, gender, social
orientation, class status, religion, nationality, and amongst other things. From the selection, what is the
prejudice there? One of them is the “It is assumed that when it comes to manpower, a woman cannot
replace the talents and abilities of a man.”

How do you define Bias according to the activity?


Bias means a tendency to favor one person, group, thing, or point of view over another, often in an unfair way.
 It is the result of a prejudice. From the selection, what is the bias there? It is the “an organization only
hires and employs men, and women are left at home”

What is the difference of bias and prejudice


Prejudice are the thought and Bias is the action – the reason why you have unfair treatment toward a person or
toward something.

In your daily lifestyle, as a student, did you encounter like this one?

1. How much was given to the little boy for doing an excellent job? How about Sally, did she receive
as much as her brother? (bias)
2. What was the reason of the father for doing so? (prejudice)

Did the Filipinos experienced bias or prejudice during the Spanish colonization?
During Spanish colonial period in the Philippines, most of the Spaniards especially the one with higher position
had discriminate the Filipino people calling them “indios” monkeys with no culture before they came. But Jose
Rizal did a great move, condemning these doings of the Spaniards, he started writing things that tackling these
bad behaviors of the colonizers and that had a great impact to the Spaniards. This just shows that some

A 5-minute activity. Present a yell after accomplishing the task.

Group 1 (YELLOW TEAM): The group will select Boba Pearls that have different ideas. Then the students will
determine the difference and similarities between prejudice and bias through a Venn diagram by writing down the
concepts they chose from the Boba.
Group 2: The group will make a slogan that promotes valuing the uniqueness of one's life by avoiding being
biased and prejudiced towards others.

Group 3: The group will scoop an ice cream, each scoop has its own situations, the student will distribute the
scoop accordingly, either the situation is prejudice or bias resulting to a mind map.
