1.0 SCOPE

1.1 Procedure for Column Rebar Works and formworks in special need school center
Ph-1

1.2 Column Rebar works and Formworks under this method of statement are
categorized as follows

 Fabrication of rebars
 Installation of Rebars
 Fabrication of forms
 Installation of forms
 Removal of forms

1.3 Prior to commencement of works, construction meeting will be held at the site
offices with the construction staff and contractor carrying out the work to discuss
the methodology of the works, comprehension of the risks and risk mitigation
plan. Emergency procedures and supervision carrying out the work.

2.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this Method statement is to establish guidelines addressing all the
requirements for the scaffolding works conform to the design, approved IFC drawings
and specifications in the special need school center Phase-1 project.

3.0 DEFINITIONS

All works will be carried out in accordance with the project Health and Safety plan

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 Project Manger

The Project Manager is responsible for liaising with Saudi Aramco and the
supplier with regards to deliveries, construction dates, conveying the information
to the Construction manager ensuring the method statement is approved and
passed to the construction manager.

4.2 Construction Manager

The Construction Manager is responsible for the verification of this method


statement and of any subsequent revisions and application of method statement
for the works, ensuring the method statements are passed to the laydown team
and QA/QC manager with the delivery dates and advance delivery
documentation.

4.3 HSE Manager

The HSE Manager is responsible for reviewing these procedures in the method
statement, ensuring that the method statement, JSA and STA are carried out at
the required time by the safety officer. Ensuring that all operatives are briefed on
the method statement and operatives have signed to confirm receipt of briefing.

4.4 Safety Officer (Reports directly to the HSE manager)

The safety officer is responsible for the following:

 Ensure that all safety requirements to start the activity are provided by the
construction group as per project HSE manual and specification
 To conduct daily inspection to ensure that safety requirements are being
maintained up to the completion of this activity
 Review the method of working and ensure safety measures are being
adhered to at all times and advising supervisors of any issues arising.

4.5 Project Engineer

 The Project Engineer is to ensure construction is being carried out to the


required specifications and Method Statement
 Check the materials prior to installation and ensure the works are
programmed,
 Ensure that all materials are on site and the labor are on site for the
execution of works.
 Check if the work is being carried out in accordance with the method
statement and schedule

4.6 Site Engineer

 Secure relevant work permit from WPR, prior to execution of works.


 Supervise the execution of the work and ensure that it is being done as per
project approved specification and drawings and approved work procedure
 Ensure that manpower and equipment are properly distributed
 Conduct JSA and STA to ensure that each member of the crew is aware of
the hazards
 Ensure that all control measures to arrest the hazard are being implemented
 Arrange for the required materials, tools and equipment’s.
 Prepare and submit the daily report.

4.7 Site Supervisor / foreman

 To monitor all the labor and equipment operators and other associated
craftsman performing their tasks accordingly. Submit daily work report
progress to the site engineer. Site supervisor shall be on site, supervising the
work all the times.

4.8 QC Civil Inspector

 To Whenever is required QC inspector, shall monitor the daily activities and


verify the compliance with Project Specifications. Conduct inspection in
accordance with the project QA Manual and Quality inspection plan, whether
inspection is required or not. QC is responsible to have surveillance all the
times.

4.9 Permit Receiver


 Shall secure the work permit prior to start the work and shall determine the
hazard associated with a particular activity and the precautions to take so the
job can be carried out safely. All manpower, Equipment and tools shall be
added in the work permit as per the required activity. Permit receiver shall
ensure site engineer and safety officer had already inspected the preparation
of the job and give green light for obtaining work permit.

6.0 SAFETY

 All PPEs shall be worn by the personnel at all times.

 The worksite shall be maintained in a clean and tidy condition.

 All work shall be undertaken in accordance with the PROJECT HSE manual
and all individual activities will be set up in an orderly manner to ensure
compliance with the requirements.

 Work permit shall be obtained prior to start of any work activity and work
shall commence in accordance with the specific measures itemized in the
permit.

7.0 REBAR INSTALLATION

 Secure work permit after all preparation and internal inspection.


 Column reinforcement shall be assembled by a qualified steel fixer at the
stack yard, prior to installation and it will shift to work site with the use of
boom truck. (Assembling of column reinforcement under the supervision of
supervisor or foreman.
 The assembled column reinforcement shall be in placed to its position with
the use of boom truck or mobile crane with a qualified rigger.
 If the mobile crane was not available on site, the installation for column
reinforcement shall be one vertical rebar at a time together with the ties and it
shall be pass hand to hand method.
 Provide adequate supports to the erected column reinforcement to prevent
from possible falling and bending.
 Provide required thickness of concrete spacer, to avoid touching of steel to
shutter.
 All necessary block outs and sleeves shall be installed where in it is required
as per the IFC drawings.
 Secure MEP clearance and raise RFI, prior to closing of shutter.
 Installation of steel reinforcement at more than 1.8 meters height, required
approved scaffolding

8.0 INSTALLATION OF FORMS

 Secure work permit after all preparation and internal inspection.


 The column shutter will be fabricated at three sides only and the last part will
be installed in the site.
 Prior to installation of column shutter the existing concrete surface shall be
rough and clean.
 Prior to installation of fabricated column shutter, the surveyor will mark the
points as per the requirement in IFC drawing.
 The fabricated shutter shall be fixed properly by a qualified carpenter as per
the marked provided by the surveyor. Column shutter shall be fixed to its
position gradually with the use of mobile crane and guidance of the rigger.
Ensure the safety of the worker and equipment. (Mobile crane shall be use
for heavy lift only).

 During installation ensure the alignment, plumbness and stability of column
shutter. Provide adequate supports such as tie rod, bolt, wedges and
diagonal bracing.
 Window shall be provided at the mid of the column shutter to provide access
to concrete or the pipe of the concrete pump shall be extended to directly
pour the concrete inside the column shutter.
 Formwork installation at more than 1.80-meter height, required approved
scaffolding.
 Stripping or removal of shutter shall be minimum after 24 hours of concreting.
