HOW DO YOU USE THIS MODULE
Before starting the module, I want you to set aside other tasks that will disturb
you while enjoying the lessons. Read the simple instructions below successfully
enjoy the objectives of this kit. Have fun!
1. Follow carefully all the contents and instructions indicated in every page of
this module

LESSON 4: Develop Patterns for Product Packages
(Part 4 Square Pyramid)
EXPECTATIONS
PRE-TEST
MULTIPLE CHOICE. Choose the letter of the correct answer.

LOOKING BACK TO YOUR LESSON
A prism is a 3-dimensional shape with two identical shapes facing each other. These
identical shapes are called “bases”. The bases can be a triangle, square, rectangle
or any other polygon. Other faces of a prism are parallelograms or rectangles
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
A pyramid is a polyhedron for which the base is a polygon and all lateral faces are
triangles. A pyramid is typically described by the shape of its base. For instance, a
triangular pyramid has a base that is a triangle, and a hexagonal pyramid has a base
that is a hexagon.
Objectives
1. Describe the difference between a pyramid and prism
2. Interpret selected patterns guide sheet to identify the correct pattern in making
a pyramid.
3. Follow properly the procedure in creating a pattern for a square pyramid
LEARNING CONTENT
Pyramids
A pyramid is a polyhedron for which the base is a polygon and all lateral faces
are triangles. In this lesson, we'll only concern ourselves with pyramids whose lateral
faces are congruent — that is, they're the same size and shape. Technically, when
the lateral faces are congruent triangles, the shape is known as a right pyramid,
indicating that the apex — the vertex at which the lateral faces meet — is directly
above the center of the base. In this lesson, when we use the term pyramid, we
mean a right pyramid. But there are other types of pyramids, too.
3
Right Pyramid
The apex of this pyramid is exactly over the middle of the base, hence named as Right Pyramid.
Oblique Pyramid
The apex of this pyramid is not exactly over the middle of its base and named as Oblique
Pyramid.
(Pyramid, 2021)
Explore Pyramids
The net of a rectangular pyramid consists of one rectangle and four triangles.
The rectangle is the base of the pyramid, and the triangles are the lateral faces.
4
Pattern Development of a Pyramid
With the use of a compass and with the apex of the pyramid as the center,
strike an arc equal to the length of the slanted height. The length of the base is equal
to the length of the side of the square. Provide seams if the pattern is to be
assembled.
ACTIVITY 1
Instruction: In a short bond paper, Show the procedure in making a pattern of a
Square Pyramid. Use proper tools and practice correct handling of the
instruments. Repeat the procedure on a cardboard or folder then cut it out.
Assemble the pattern to form a square pyramid. You may use 10 cm for the
slanted height and 5 cm as the side of the square. Note: you may watch and
follow the video tutorial posted in our google classroom account for your Plate

REMEMBER
In geometry, a square pyramid is a pyramid having a square base. If the apex is
perpendicularly above the center of the square, it is a right square pyramid, and
has C4v symmetry. If all edges are equal, it is an equilateral square pyramid.

CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING
TRUE OR FALSE
1. A pyramid has a polygon for a base and triangular lateral faces
2. A pyramid has two bases
3. A Square Pyramid have 5 vertices
4. A Pyramid has circular base
5. Apex is the vertex at which the lateral faces meet
