ABOUT

Kachabeswarar temple, Thirukachur is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity


Shiva, located in Thirukachur a village in Kanchipuram district in the south
Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped as Kachabeswarar, and is
represented by the lingam. The temple is counted as a twin temple along with
Marundeeswarar temple located in same village prominent. All the shrines of
the temple are enclosed in large concentric rectangular granite walls. There is
a sixteen pillared hall in front of the main tower that has sculpted columns
depicting various legends and Hindu deities. The original complex is believed
to have been built by cholas, while the present masonry structure was built
during the Nayak during the 16th century in modern times, the temple is
maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and charitable
Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu

PROCEDURES:

The procedure for weather tiles or Kerala Terracotta tiles removing and
laying work or as follows:

1. First we started the work with removing the entire existing weather tiles
and Debris completely using breaker machine .Then we cleaned the entire
area completely of 11500 square feet . The complete work is done by
nandagopal and his team.

2. Secondly we attend the crack and damage work on the roof slab of temple.
we started developing the existing crack on the slab and fill up with the
cement mortar and waterproofing chemical to arrest water .The work is
done by local civil team

3. We started the waterproofing treatment work using Doctor fixit 301


(URP) for waterproofing we used ratio of (1:10) for water treatment. The
waterproofing treatment is done in entire complete area even in side wall
also. The work is done by Shankar and is team.

4. Finally the tiles laying work it is also classified into four parts .The first
part is filling of cement mortar cement mortar is filled up with the size of
25 mm of ratio 1:4. The second part is applying cement water on the top of
the cement Mortar. The third part is lying of whether tail work with the
spacing of 10 mm. The fourth part is applying tiles grout with the spacing
of 10mm in between the tiles. The grout is also added with waterproofing
chemicals. The tiles laying work of 11500 sq.ft is fully done by jothy and
his team

MAINTENANACE

The maintenance of the weather tiles is a simple procedure.

1. Make sure the water drain area is clean and zero blockage.

2. 3 to 4 years once apply damp proof paint on the top of the whether tiles.

3. Avoid unwanted things dump on the weather tiles area.

4. Clean dust and leaves monthly once in the tile area to avoid blocks.

4. water proofing chemicals – Dr fixit 301 URP

5. Spacer- 10mm spacer
