can be sent to deploy a Gen 2 ExaCC
Pre Delivery Prep

Download necessary files from Shared Oradocs Site - Liase with designated Oracle SWAT Engineer for details, Partner FE will need to be
added to below site:-

Partner-FE-SharedDocs

SWAT Engineer will need to know Partner FE email address and whether they already have an SSO account linked to this email address so
he can be added to above Site
Obtain expected rack serial number related to each site from Oracle SWAT Engineer, site address & contact information.
Laptop will be required with serial connection and RJ45 network port (or adapter) - at least 8GB RAM and 100GB free disk space (SSD if
possible)
DB9 male serial port in laptop / docking station or Linux and laptop host OS compatible USB-to-serial DB9 male adapter – adapters with
Prolific PL2303 and FTDI FT232RL chipsets work fine on both Windows and Linux (example: Oracle P/N 530-4424 USB to DB9M Serial
Cable)

DB9F to RJ45F adapter to connect serial port of Cisco/PDU/ILOM RJ45 port (example: Oracle P/N 530-3100 https://support.oracle.com
/handbook_partner/Devices/Cables/530-3100.html)

2 RJ45 CAT5e straight through Ethernet cables

There are USB to RJ45 serial adapters available that can be used instead of USB-to-serial DB9M + DB9F to RJ45F + RJ45 straight through
cable. Examples (FTDI chipset):
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07MYQPYKR/
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07N1LZSBN/
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01LPQM90G/
WiFi or cellular internet connectivity for the laptop on-site
Software installed on laptop: zoom, slack, ssh client (putty / MobaXterm), scp client (winscp), zip/7zip, Oracle Java
Oracle VirtualBox 6.x software installed on laptop
NFS/DHCP Linux server virtual machine image provided by SWAT team for re-imaging ExaCC installed on laptop
It is recommended to setup session logging in ssh client
for ssh
script `date "+ssh_%Y%m%d_%H%M%S.log"`
ssh user@host
for putty
for MobaXterm

Meet delivery Day 1:

Meet and Greet - Couriers should have all the tools necessary, if not the tools needed for unpacking the rack will be in the spares box (large
rectangular box attached to outside of rack)
If available I would recommend bringing a socket set with Allan key attachments, adjustable spanner & cutters.
Obtain rack serial number from shipping sheets and confirm serial number is correct - Check tilt indiicator is ok and report any damage
immediately
Perform re-racking if required to get the rack into the datacenter
Only remove servers (dbnodes & cells). Leave switches and CMA's in place.
Velcro or tie wraps will be required to hold the CMA's and cables in place once the servers are removed whilst moving the empty
rack.
Re-racking will require 2 people
For moving of the rack in horizontal position it is advisable to remove doors and side panels so these do not get damaged
Label spares kit as ExaCC X9M/X8M (or ExaCC X7 in case of Gen 1 to Gen 2 upgrade) spares
customer has to take care of these in a safe location but they need to be available in case needed by FE for break/fix

Connect ExaCC PDU power cables with all (6) PDU breakers turned-off to customer's power sockets
Ensure PDU's are balanced for resilience and in addition for single phase:-

1. PDU_A Input_2 and PDU_B Input_0 must be on the same phase.

2. PDU_A Input_1 and PDU_B Input_1 must be on the same phase.
3. PDU_A Input_0 and PDU_B Input_2 must be on the same phase.
4. These are marked where they come out of the PDU. Connecting the cables in this manner,ensures that in the case of a failover the phases
are balanced on both the A and B sides.

Follow local policy, e.g. in some countries only certified electricians are allowed to connect power, usually I let customer's DC team
connect the power cables
Ensure correct SFP's are installed in DB & CP Servers ( if applicable) & connect network cables (follow cabling matrix provided by customer)

Installation Power Up Day 2/3:

After 24hrs up to 48hrs of acclimatization (depends on weather conditions during delivery), power-on and perform visual checks.
Perform basic Cisco admin switch config
Perform initial ROCE switch setup
Peform PDU setup

Initial Tasks to be performed by partner engineer after delivery of the racks

to customer's DC (detailed procedure)
Power Up
Turn on all breakers in PDU-B
Observe LEDS
Oracle Servers: PS1 for both the X8-2 & X8-2L servers – the right-hand LED will flash green standby.
CISCO switches: LED on left (viewed from front) will turn GREEN and the right LEDs for the other PSU will be RED
Repeat for PDU-A
Checks all servers & switches for fault LEDS, NOTE cisco admin switch may have orange LEDS on until configured
Power on all servers cells first followed by DB servers - check ilom leds become solid green on all servers after some time ( 10
minutes or so )
Check for fault leds on servers once more after power up
Any fault light observed login to ilom using serial port ( default passwords are set ) and run >show faulty
Contact SWAT Team member if any faults are found so they can diagnose and raise SR if necessary

Below are factory IP's used on delivered racks

1 Obtain PDU name and network information from SWAT FE This comes from InstallationTemplate.
html

2 Connect an RS-232 cable between the SER MGT port and the host (e.g. Laptop or other
suitable system).

3 Configure the host’s terminal or terminal emulator (it is assumed that the installer knows Terminal Configuration Settings:

how to do this – otherwise see page 58 of the PDU User’s Guide). • 9600 baud

• 8 bit

• 1 stop bit

• no parity bit

• no flow control

4 At the terminal device, log in to the PDU metering unit: User = admin, pwd = adm1n

pducli->

Password may be: welcome1

5 After successful login, enter the appropriate values from the rack’s OEDA Installation pducli->set net_ipv4_dhcp=Off
Template: see step 1
pducli->set net_ipv4_ipaddr=xxx.xxx.
xxx.xxx

pducli->set net_ipv4_subnet=xxx.xxx.
xxx.xxx

pducli->set net_ipv4_gateway=xxx.
xxx.xxx.xxx

Successful commands will be

acknowledged with:

pducli->set OK => PDU-Reset required

to apply changes ('reset=yes')!!!

It is sufficient to perform the reset just

once (as shown in the task below).

The PDU can be optionally configured

for DNS with:

pducli->set net_ipv4_dns1=xxx.xxx.
xxx.xxx

pducli->set net_ipv4_dns2=xxx.xxx.

cisco port 48
9 Connect to the PDU using a browser on a laptop attached to the Cisco switch with an IP https://<NEW IP Address of PDU>
address on the same subnet as the PDU's. Alternatively connect via a crossover cable
(or standard Ethernet cable to a laptop running a 1G connection). You will probably need to accept the
security note in the web browser when
attaching to the PDU via https.

If the network configuration was

successful the web browser will display
the Metering Overview page.
