B. Introduction Let’s recall about common noun and proper noun.

What is the difference between common noun and proper

noun?

(Common noun are the general names we give to people,

animals, things or events. It begins with small letter while
proper nouns are specific names we give to people,
animals, things or events. It begins with big or capitalized
letter)

-Who can give an example of common noun? Then give a

proper noun of the given common noun.

Electric fan- Hanabishi

Ballpen-Titus
Bag-Hawk

-Today, let’s find out when are we going to use

capitalization of words especially when we are writing a
sentence.
C. Teaching/Modeling I have here a sentence.
(I do)
Our friend Angelo is a good
-We capitaliza O because it is at the beginning of the
sentence.
-Angelo also begins with big letter A though it is not at
the beginning of the sentence because it is a specific
name of a person or what we called a proper noun.

Here are more examples:

Maria went to Cebu last week.

-Maria and Cebu begins with capitalized letter because it

is a specific name of a person and place.

My pencil is new.
-My begins with capitalized M because it is at the
beginning of the sentence.
-pencil is written in small letter because it is a common
noun.

My father is Dr. Cruz.

-Letter M is written in big letter because it is at the

beginning of the sentence.
-Dr. Cruz is a proper noun so we write in big letter.

Remember:
1. Capitalize the first letter of the word in the
sentence and put a period at the end.
2. Capitalize the first letter if it is a proper noun or
specific name of people, animals, things or events.
