A.Ohmeter – used to determine the

resistance of a component or equipment.

B. Multimeter – Volt-ohm-milliameter
(VOM) it combines 3 functions it measures
both AC and DC voltages; an ohmmeter
that measures resistance and a
milliameter that measures small amounts
of DC currents.
Types of Multimeter

A. Analog Multimeter – is used for

pointed scale system in reading
measurements.
Parts of Analog Multimeter
1.Scale -is the markings in reading
measurements.
2. Needle or pointer – is a moving coil that
moves over the scale that indicates the
value of the component. `
3. Adjustment screw- used to adjust the
needle to the zero point scale.
4. Zero-ohm adjustment knob – is used
when you want to calibrate the
measurement of the resistance of a
component.
5. Range selection knob- is used in
adjusting the setting of the multitester.
6. Ports- are the holes where the test
probes will be plugged.
7. Test Probes – are insulated wires, used
to connect multitester to a component
being tested.

B. Digital Multimeter – converts analog to

digital form of measurement.
Parts of Multimeter
1.Display – where value of components
being measured is shown.
2. Function and Range switch -is used to
select the function and range in
measuring.
3. Common Input Terminal- common
ground that is used in all measurement.
4. V input terminal – where red probe is
plugged if you want to measure the
voltage or resistance of a component.
5. 200 mA Input Terminal – where red
probe is plugged if you want to measure
small current value.
6. 10A Input Terminal – where red probe
is plugged if you want to measure large
