Pretty Petals Squares Makes

A lacy crochet square that can be made in two different

sizes for all kinds of projects. The small version of this

square is 4” finished, while the large version is 9”.

Materials Needed Abbreviations
H/5.00mm hook
ch-chain Dc2tog-double
Aran/heavy worsted weight yarn- 12 yards
ss-slip stitch crochet 2 together
for the 4" square and 45 yards for the 9"
st/sts: Dc3tog-double
square
stitch/stitches crochet 3 together
Scissors
dc-double crochet Rep-repeat
Tapestry Needle
single crochet hdc-half double

Directions crochet

The gauge for this project is 13sts and 7


Setup: Ch4 and Ss together
rows of dc per 4” square

Round 1: Ch3. Dc2tog and finish them with the remaining loop from your ch3. *ch4,

dc3tog* Rep3x. Ch4 and Ss into the top of your first chain/dc group.

Round 2: Ch6. *Dc3tog into the corner, ch4, and dc3tog in the same corner. Ch3, dc

into the top of your next dc cluster from round 1, Ch3* Repeat 2x more(3x total).

Dc3tog into the corner, ch4, and dc3tog in the same corner. Ch3 and Ss into the middle

of your ch6.

Round 3: Ch2, sc2 into next ch-space, sc1 into the top of your dc3tog from round 2.

Sc2 in to the corner ch-space, Ch3. *Sc2 in to the corner ch-space, sc1 into the top of

your dc3tog from round 2. Sc2 into next ch-space, sc1 into the top of your dc from

round 2. Sc2 into next ch-space, sc1 into the top of your dc3tog from round 2. Sc2 in to

the corner ch-space, Ch3.* Repeat the sequence in asterisks 2x more(3x total).

Sc2 in to the corner ch-space, sc1 into the top of your dc3tog from round 2. Sc2 into

next ch-space, and Ss to close the round.

For small/4” version: Bind off, weave in your ends, and block if desired.

For large/9” version: continue to round 4.

Round 4: Ch3. Dc2tog and finish them with the remaining loop from your ch3. Ch3,

Skip 2sts and dc. Ch3, Dc3tog into the corner, ch4, and dc3tog in the same corner.

into the corner, ch4, and dc3tog in the same corner.*Repeat 2x(3x total).

Ch3, Skip 2sts and dc. Ch3 and ss into the top of your first ch3.

Round 5: ch6. Skip 3sts and dc3tog into the top of your next dc from round 4. Ch3 and

dc3tog again in the same st. Ch3, Dc3tog into the corner, ch4, and dc3tog in the same

corner.

*ch3, skip 3sts and dc3tog into the top of your next dc from round 4. Ch3 and dc3tog

again in the same st. Ch3, skip 3sts and dc into the top of your next dc3tog from round

4. Ch3, skip 3sts and dc3tog into the top of your next dc from round 4. Ch3 and dc3tog

again in the same st. Ch3, Dc3tog into the corner, ch4, and dc3tog in the same

corner.*Repeat 2x.

Skip 3sts and dc3tog into the top of your next dc from round 4. Ch3 and dc3tog again

in the same st. Ch3 and ss into the middle of your first ch6.

Round 6: Ch2. Working around the entire round, hdc3 into every ch-space along the

sides. In each corner, hdc3, ch3, and hdc3 again. Ss to close.

Bind off, weave in your ends, and block if desired.
