files, version R14 to the latest 2022, and also can open raster image formats
—.bmp .jpg .png .gif .tif

Save as
Like you can digitize or vectorize a drawing, you can also convert DWF files back to DWG and
DXF. DWGSee gives you the possibility to do such file conversion: DWG to DXF, DXF to DWG,
DWG to DWF, DXF to DWF, DWF to DWG and DWF to DXF. It sounds completed, but just simply
accomplished with the ‘save as’ feature. You can get an editable CAD drawing if the target
format is DWG or DXF.

STEP1.
Open a Drawing file, go to “File” > “Save as…” or click the “Save as” button on the navigation
bar.

STEP2.

You can manage, transmit, publish, and archive sheet sets as a unit.
Right click view menu
In the view mode, just right click the window, you may see following quick view tools.
Markup

We can email a drawing file to somebody maybe across country even. So that they could see the
plans, they could markup and send back to us.
DWGSee creates overlays for markups, so that all the markups made by others will not infect
the original drawing file. Markup overlays are saved in a separate *.MRK file. To save the
bandwidth or email attachment size, the reviewer can just send back the *.MRK file and you can
easily load it on your drawing in DWGSee to see the remarks.
For this demonstration, you will have a glance of how DWGSee markup collaborates and
coordinates with the drawings.

Select a measure or drawing markup tool

Measure markups
The Measure tool measures the distance between two points, takes the angle between two
non-parallel lines or calculates the radius of a circle, an arc, a curve or an arch. Instead of
showing the results on information panel, to add the measurements as markups on the drawing,
you will need to choose the following tools on the navigation bar.

Callout markups
To attract more attentions, you can add callout markups. The Callout tool enables you to create
a call-out shape that points to a particular location in the drawing. You can enter text in the call-
out box to explain the call-out.
Text box markup

The Text Box tool is similar to the Callout tool, except it is only a text box that can be placed at
any location on the drawing. You can enter text in the text box.

Free-form drawing markups

You also have the option to use free-form drawing markup tools that are meant to simulate
actually drawing on paper. The drawing markups are divided into three different types: Free
Redline markup, Polyline markup and Rectangle markup.

Change General Object Properties

Object properties control the appearance and behavior of objects, and are used to organize a
drawing. Every object has general properties including its layer, color, linetype, linetype scale,
lineweight, transparency, and plot style. In addition, objects have properties that are specific to
their type. For example, the special properties of a circle include its radius and area. When you
specify the current properties in a drawing, all newly created objects use those settings
automatically. For example, if you set the current layer to Dimensions, the objects that you
create will be on the Dimensions layer.

You can set some properties of an object either by layer (ByLayer), or by specifying the property
explicitly, independent of its layer.

Use the Properties Palette

The Properties palette provides the most complete list of all property settings. If a single object
is selected, you can view and change the properties for that object.

Dimension style setting

A dimension style is a named collection of dimension settings that controls the appearance of
dimensions, such as arrowhead style, text location, and lateral tolerances.

You create dimension styles to specify the format of dimensions quickly, and to ensure that
dimensions conform to industry or project standards.

• When you create a dimension, it uses the settings of the current dimension style.
• If you change a setting in a dimension style, all dimensions in the drawing that use the
style update automatically.
• You can override a dimension style with dimension settings that deviate from the
current dimension style.
• All dimension styles in your drawing are listed in the Dimension Style drop-down

To Create a Dimension Style

• In the Dimension Style Manager, click New.

• In the Create New Dimension Style dialog box, enter a name for the new dimension
style, and click OK.
• In the New Dimension Style dialog box, click each tab, and make any changes for the
new dimension style.
• Click save and then Close to exit the Dimension Style Manager.
Markup dimension settings
Please note, this setting is for markup, not for add dimension objects on drawing.

The default scale of the drawing is 1:1, please be aware the drawing has different scales and
drawing units settings, this scale information could be found from the title block of the drawing,
please set up the drawing unit to true length scales accordingly, the DWGSee application is
unable to pick up this scale information automatically.
For the "Drawing Unit" field of the Dimension properties, the units settings here is for the
display of the numbers, does not calculate and change the values, since the software is unable
to know the true length of the measurement. In short, the software "knows" the measurement
in Drawing Unit only, and if you enter the scale of "Drawing unit" to "True Length", as well as the
true "Drawing Unit", then the software is able to show up the measurement with correct true
length number with true unit.
The value enter for the scale change should be: dimension marked divided by the measured
drawing unit For example, this drawing converted with default setting, scale 1, the created
length measured as 371.000, however the actual value marked as 27.74, then the value to enter
to the converter scale value should be 27.74/371.000=0.074771

Snap setting
Object snaps provide a way to specify precise locations on objects whenever you are prompted
for a point within a command.

For example, you can use object snaps to create a line from the center of a circle to the
midpoint of another line.

Use Running Object Snaps

If you need to use one or more object snaps repeatedly, you can turn on running object snaps,
which persist through all subsequent commands. For example, you might set Endpoint,
Midpoint, and Center as running object snaps.
Ortho Mode

You can restrict cursor movement to horizontal and vertical directions for convenience and
precision when creating and modifying objects.

You can turn Ortho on and off at any time during drawing and editing. Ortho is ignored when
you enter coordinates or specify an object snap.

Press F8 to Turn On or Turn Off Orthogonal Locking

Font path
You can set shx font files search path as following.

Layer setting
Add new layer

• Open layer manager

• Click "new layer" button
• Rename layer name and then add new objects.

How to add new line type?

• Open layer manager

• Click "line type" button
• Open linetype file to load, such as “acad.lin”
• Press “ctrl+click” to select the linetypes to load

Floating user license

AutoDWG Floating License Server allows to using AutoDWG products on several computers in
TCP/IP network. Every time a client application uses a floating license, it connects to the Floating
License Server and gets ("leases") a license from the server and the number of available licenses
on this server is decreased. When a client application finishes its work, the license is returned to
the Floating License Server and it is available for other machines.

The server must be running before the client applications can get a license.

Start up license:
A txt file that records usage of AutoDWG product license and some server information. Do not
edit this file.
Once the server and AutoDWG products are implemented, the floating license system is up and
running, the concurrently usage of AutoDWG product is counted and recorded on the server
end. Please check out this file from server program installed directory, file name Startup-
license.lic. This is a text file for you to estimate how many users license is required. Please also
email it to us for the license server authorization, which is bind to your server hardware.
If you are unable to find this file directory, please go to the desktop short cut, right click it and
select “property/shortcut/target...”

Server activation:
A final step of authorize your AutoDWG network license server.
Once the amount of license is decided and product purchase is finished, we will be able to
activate your license sever with an activation code. Please reconfirm the server machine code
and server IP/Port, so that we can provide license activation accordingly.

Networking license mechanism:

Every five minutes the license server and the product send a heartbeat message to each other
to verify that they are mutually communicating. If the product and the license server have been
exchanging heartbeat messages but there is an interruption in the exchange (for example, there
is a power failure), the product goes into a grace period, and it still runs as if it is still connected
to the license server. The grace period can last 30 days, long enough for server recovery, and the
grace period is automatically terminated once the product heartbeat messages recover.

Offline mode license:

Some supreme users need to operate the AutoDWG product in a disconnected mode (not
connected to the server), i.e. a user needs to access this program on his laptop during his
business trip. This can set by the administrator on server console, by selecting user’s
computer from the list, right click on it and choose “Lock GP” to make it dedicated license for
this computer. In this case, heartbeat messages are not exchanged, this computer is forced run
as grace period, and resume 30 day limit once it back online, it last almost forever unless the
server admin command it to “Unlock GP” with the same way (this can be performed any time,
but take affect when this computer is reconnected). All offline mode licenses are glow as green
and sticky on top of the list. The computer which requires offline mode license need to connect
to the server at least once, during server admin can switch on this mode for it.
