Research is an academic

activity that requires a great deal of

abstraction or formation of concepts
or ideas in your mind about things in
your surroundings.

This activity in all its stages

immerses you into performing varied
higher-order thinking strategies of
interpreting, criticizing, applying
and creating. Resulting from mental
conceptions and viewed holistically,
research has to appear
understandable to the people who
are enthusiastic to read the research
findings.
Conceptual Framework is a
graphical presentation of your
concepts or ideas on the basic
structure or components of your
research as well as on the
relationships of these elements with
one another.
It is a graph or non-prose
material, specifically a schematic
diagram that shows a well-ordered
elements of the research.

Giving a carefully constructed

arrangement of the components of
your study, conceptual framework is
abroad outline or plan to give shape
to your research.
Pointers in writing the Conceptual
Framework
1. Familiarize yourself with the objective of
the conceptual framework.

2. Base the content of the conceptual

framework on your own understanding of
the elements and of the relationships of
the research features.
3. See to it that all aspects of the conceptual
framework are related to the objective of
the research.

4. Let others read conceptual framework for

comments or feedback for improvement
purposes.
3. See to it that all aspects of the conceptual

the research.

concepts in a
sequential and
logical manner and

for the subject being

CF can be
developed by
the researcher
himself or
adopted from
other studies.
Sources of Ideas for Conceptual Framework:

 existing theories
 previous research models
 personal real life experiences
 findings of the previous study
 concepts of the several theories
and models
Importance of Conceptual Framework:
 brings focus within the context.
 researcher’s own understanding
of how the particular variables
in his study are related
 researcher’s “map” in pursuing
the investigation.
 “sets the stage” for
presentation of the specific
research question
Functions of Conceptual Framework

 defines the research problem;

 establishes theoretical
coherence;
 organizes research design and
implementation; and
 frames conceptual
conclusions
Functions of a Conceptual Framework:

 serves as link between literature,

methodology, and results;
 represents the researcher’s own
synthesis of literature
 sets the stage for presentation of
the specific research question
Functions of Conceptual Framework
 provide researchers with a :
• means of setting out an explanation to
define and make sense of the data;
• filtering tool for selecting appropriate
research questions and related data
collection methods; and
• reference point/ structure for the
discussion of the literature and
methodology.
Steps in Developing a Conceptual Framework:
1. Choose a topic.
2. Do a literature review.
3. Isolate the important
variables.
4. Generate the conceptual
framework.

Students in Signal Village National High School
Through the Use of the Developed
Localized Reading and
Writing Modules.”
Sample Conceptual Framework
This model shows
that current events in the
community and
understanding the skill-needs
prescribed by the curriculum
related to the level of
understanding of the
students by using Fry Method
are used to develop a
learning module.
The data were
analyzed to find if the use of
the teacher-made modules
are suitable and reliable to
use.
