The Black Death or Bubonic Plague

In this activity, you are going to get the information you need from the presentation and
videos. This means you need to pay particularly close attention and also need to make rough
notes along the way. The presentation will be available on my website to help you with your
work.

These are the questions you need to be able to answer:

1. What caused the Black Death?

2. What were the symptoms of Black Death?

3. When and where did the Black Death enter Europe? Be precise!

4. How quickly did the Black Death spread? Using different coloured pencils colour the
map below to show the spread of the Black Death. Stick this sheet in your book.
Suggest reasons why some parts of Europe remained unaffected.

5. Why did the Black Death spread so quickly? You need to give a number of reasons.

6. What did medieval people believe caused the Black Death? Try to give at least three
reasons in your answer.

7. How did medieval people try to cure people who had the Black Death?

8. What were the results of the Black Death? Again, you need to give a number of
different points including the positive consequences.

9. Are we really sure that black rats caused the Black Death? Explain your answer
carefully.

10. Could something like the Black Death happen again? Again, explain your answer
carefully.
