programs are essential for students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social
skills and values, set appropriate career goals, and realize full academic potential to become
productive, contributing members of the world community. For school counselors to do their job
they need to find the needs of a school to get better. There are many different ways to find these
needs such as by conducting a needs assessment. There can be many different assessments such
These Google surveys can be sent to everyone’s email who is a part of the school and allow them
to answer on their own time and the results will be sent to the counselor to look over and gain
information. Surveys can also be sent to members outside of the school if need be. These surveys
can be done in many different ways, such as polls, fill-in-the-blank, and multiple choice.
A mandated topic from our district is Bullying. We have a week that is called “See
Something Say Something,” and throughout this week students get to dress up against bullying.
They also have short videos to watch every day that talk about bullying and what to do if it
happens to them or someone else. There are many different activities that students join in
throughout the district. Another activity our school does is get each student to sign a pledge
stating that they will follow the “Say Something See Something” pledge and then they receive a
green bracelet that has “Say Something See Something” written on it. The pros of this are to help
students better understand what bullying is and how to report it if they see it at school. Some
students have no clue who to talk to or even what to say but these videos help them understand

better. One con that I have found is that some students make light of the video and start talking
about bullying other students. I find this a great time to pull the student to the side and ask what’s
Justification for the selected surveys/assessments & direct and indirect student services
To justify the annual calendar template that was constructed, school counselors could
also use different assessments. A Google survey would be the best assessment to send to teachers
and students at school to simply state what they feel the school could do better to address the
needs of the school. A lot of schools are currently seeing a trend in needing mental health
services within the school system. After Covid-19 many students have higher anxiety and have
trouble with different situations and need a mental health counselor to help. Supporting these
students and teachers during this difficult time can help them so much! According to The
American School Counselor Association (ASCA) (2023), School counselors focus their skills,
time, and energy on direct and indirect services to all students as well as program planning and
school support. Some different services that our school has are small group meetings depending
on what the student needs. We also do MTSS meetings where we discuss students who are
struggling. We also have lessons that the school counselor conducts monthly in the library about
different things. Overall school counselors are there to make sure that the school is running
smoothly and that everyone can learn in and out of the classroom. They help anyone who needs
