6 CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURES

6.1 General Guidelines

Prepare all related document and approval require to perform work are
complete and conform with approved document by consultant engineers including
and not limited to required submittals listed in specification, RFA with shop
drawing, RFI, material approval, confirmation of conformance between delivery
material with approved material (code/mode/type, length, weight, width, material,
quantity, etc), confirmation of conformance between temporary storage and vendor
storage requirement/standard. Ensure all approval required to perform work are
obtained and conform with approved documents by Consultant Engineers and
Architect.

The placement of the lights on the ceiling, both in recessed hanging support
and on the surface, must be coordinated with other equipment or fixtures such as
ac diffusers, sprinkler heads, ceiling speakers, smoke detectors and other
equipment. Drawings reflecting the placement of all equipment must be approved
by the consultant.

METHOD STATEMENT 6
6.2 General Construction Installation
The lights used in project area using LED Batten Light depend on
installation areas for example Data hall which is using mounted on the surface of the ceiling
and for outdoor lighting will installed on street lighting pole, are lights by using cable trunk as
a place for the installation cable and the pedestal of the lamp itself. Cable trunk is hung using a
long screw that hangs on the support purlin.

6.2.1 Installation in Building

- Secure all the necessary reference drawing layout and determine the actual
position to commence installation with the mobilization of required work force,
tools and equipment.
- Marking is done in a way to ensure that the routing of the cable tray is either
parallel or perpendicular to the building line. It can either be mark by a line on
the soffit of slab of by pulling a string along the routing.
- Prepare the threaded rods to length with fiber-cutter and remove all sharp edges
after cutting. Screw them into the drop-ins provided. Make sure all threaded rods
are screwed in firmly. All the thread rods suspended from soffit should be equal
in length. Trim if necessary
- The lights used in the data hall area use LED Batten Light which is mounted on
the surface of the ceiling. Lights by using cable trunk as a place for the installation
cable and the pedestal of the lamp itself
- Cable trunk is hung using a long screw that hangs on the support purlin.
- The lights used in the Office Area use LED Recessed Light/Down Light using GI
Conduit as a place and protect for the installation cable.
- All office Led light fittings are mounted within suspended ceilings and are
installed after the ceiling suspension system had been installed. The fittings will
then be hanged on the suspended ceiling tee with wire support.
- The recessed fluorescent light fittings are installed in such a way to ensure the
designed ceiling frame structure is not affected.
- During the installation, wire is used to suspend the recessed fluorescent light
fitting from the slab to avoid any mechanical stress on the ceiling tees.
- The down light fittings at the Corridor, Lift Lobby and Entrance Area are installed
by the means of spring mounting clips which are securely fastened to the back of
the Ceiling Board.
- Flexible adaptor is used for termination of the flexible conduit to the recessed
light fittings.
- Earth wire is terminated to the body of the recessed light fittings to ensure earth

METHOD STATEMENT 7
continuity to the recessed mounted light fitting at all time.
6.2.2 Installation of Surface Mounted Type Light Fittings

- Surface light fittings are installed in such a way to ensure that their path of light is
not blocked by any objects such as ducts, pipe etc. The areas that use this type of
installation are Refuel Centre, IW water treatment and Hydrant Pump room. Make
sure that light fittings are always securely fastened to the slab, wall etc.
- Secure all the necessary reference drawing layout and determine the actual
position to commence installation with the mobilization of required work force,
tools and equipment.
- A bush is used for the termination of conduits into light fittings while a flexible
adapter is used for the termination of flexible conduits to the light fittings.
- Earth wire is terminated to the body of the recessed light fittings to ensure earth
continuity to the surface mounted light fitting at all time.
6.2.3 Installation of Street Light
- Arrange the sections on to packing so that the underside of the pole will be
horizontal and the pole is adequately supported off the ground. Ensure the height
of the packing is compatible with the assembled pole to provide adequate ground
clearance and that there is a minimum clearance of 300mm from the end of each
nominal slip length
- Wedge the sections to prevent accidental rotation.
- Ensure the sections are correctly aligned in relation to the outreach, cable exits
etc
- Sling the section for assembly at its center of gravity and engage the sections,
making sure that perfect alignment is maintained. Only one section at a time is to
be joined starting from the base section.
- Make a temporary mark on the top face of the male section to indicate the
specified slip length. Make an additional temporary mark 150mm beyond the
specified slip length, noting it as slip + 150.
- There are a number of different set-ups used to join pole sections – it is most
important that the resultant compressive force is applied coincident with the pole
axis, as any eccentric loading may result in a misaligned joint and/or may damage
the pole sections due to the additional bending stresses.
- Before removing the crane sling, pack up the newly assembled section to the
required level ensuring that the packing is at least 300mm clear of the next joint
to be made. At the same time re-pack and wedge under the new slip joint before
removing the original packing and proceed in this manner until completion of
assembly, keeping a careful check on alignment.

METHOD STATEMENT 8
- Ensure the column is correctly assembled prior to lifting (all necessary
attachments/fittings are added and sections have been correctly joined) Ensure
all lifting tackle is checked for its capacity and adequacy for the weight of pole
being lifted.
- Attach a single loop sling around the pole at approximately two thirds of the
overall height, taking care not to damage the pole finish (synthetic slings should
be used for painted product). The sling shall not be wrapped tight around the
pole.
- On the opposite side to the lifting side, attach a safety rope from the sling and
attach the other end to a hook which is to be hooked into the access opening.
Ensure the safety rope is taut at all times.
- Begin lifting the pole. After lifting the top of the pole approximately 1m above the
ground (base should still be supported on the ground), stop and check the
arrangement. Ensure that the safety rope is still taut and that the sling begins to
rotate around in-line with the lift.
- Continue lifting the pole ensuring that the safety rope remains taut at all times
and that the sling continues to rotate around.
- Continue lifting the pole ensuring that the safety rope remains taut at all times
and that the sling continues to rotate around.

METHOD STATEMENT 9
- Carefully place the pole on the foundation bolts. DO NOT release the load from the
crane (safety rope is to still remain taut) until washers and nuts are placed on all
threads and initially tightened.
- Release the load from the lifting crane – the lifting sling should loosen and the
safety rope can be used to guide the lifting sling down the pole as the lifting crane
cable is run down, then remove lifting tackle.
- Plumb the column using the adjusting nuts. It is more important to have the top of
the vertical part of the pole in line with the base of the pole rather than having the
base plate level – particularly so for poles with single outreaches and loading on
one side which will exhibit a natural ‘bowing’.
- Tighten all nuts to the underside of the base plate and tighten down the
corresponding nuts above the base plate.
- Fill the space between the base plate and the foundation with a non-shrink
general purpose construction grout – following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Clean area.

7 Health,Safety & Environment ( HSE )

The Health Safety and Environment Project Management Plan institutes the
overall mechanism for the risk management processes with regard to the Project.
Processes are implemented at the earliest stages within the project cycle, identifying
risk and facilitating opportunity for the application of appropriate mitigation
strategies. As an integral part of the planning process, prior to the commencement of
METHOD STATEMENT 10
any operational activity a suitable and sufficient specific assessment (RA) of the risks
associated with the works should be undertaken.
8 SAFETY INSTRUCTION
- Starting instructions will be given by the supervisors at the start of each activity to
explain the methodology of works and to communicate safe working procedures to
the operatives. These talks are structured in a way to highlight to major risks
involved in the activity and the various control measures required in order to
minimize the risk. It is delivered in amanner such as the key points will be
remembered by the operatives receiving it.

- Toolbox talk meetings will be held for each crew, on group or employees, regarding
more general topics of the Project HSE Policy; in example lesson learned, near miss
reports, implementation of the requirements and message from the LBS
management or Employers HSE personnel.

9 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT ( PPE )

All workers will be issued and trained in use of the required PPE equipment to
comply with contract procedures and local regulations and will be supplemented
with PPE as with contract procedures and local regulations and will be
supplemented with PPE as required. This will include but will not be limited to :
- Hard Hats - Baricade
- Safety Gloves - Safety Shoes
- Safety Glass - Safety Full Body Harnest
- Safety Vest - Mask as per Covid-19 Health Protocol

- A variety of mechanisms, such as method statement briefings and toolbox talks

will be implemented to ensure all relevant personnel are appropriately
informed.

- In addition to their safety induction received at their arrival on site, all the workers will
have a toolbox meeting in order to be briefed about the risks of their specific
work task, prior to start of works.
