What I Need to Know

Learning Objectives: At the end of this module, you are expected to:

➢ identify the importance of community involvement;

➢ facilitate dance activities on a community you belong to.

What’s New

Human as we are, it is an innate characteristic for us to be with the company of other

people. As defined in sociology, a man is naturally sociable. We can converse and interact
with others. In the field of Physical Education, one of the four domains that should be
developed is the social domain. So, this is the very reason why we need to be involved or
engaged in the happenings of our surroundings. It helps us to become aware and be
informed of what's going on around us.
Community engagement is a thing to be considered especially for you, young
learner. Community engagement and involvement in schools is such an important facet
of the educational process. It is a fundamental piece of numerous undertakings and the
advantages are all around archived, for example, better results for all stakeholders,
community ownership and, lower project costs.

What Is It

The Importance of Community Involvement in School

Community-based approach can be transformative for learners, teachers, schools,
and the community. Making these methodologies work implies investigating the school
network, the more extensive network, and the environment, and turning out to be the way
they can best help one another.

1
Volunteering is one of the most well-known and mainstream approaches to support
network association in schools. Interface with neighborhood organizations, municipal
associations, a noble cause, charitable establishments, and different gatherings in your
locale to enroll volunteers to come in previously, during, or after the school day.
Volunteering can come in a wide range of shapes and structures. Inviting the
neighborhood pioneers and people in the network to visit classes and talk about their picked
calling for Career Day. Urge people group individuals to get required by volunteering with
enhancement openings when school, for example, coaching, expressive arts clubs, athletic
groups and, dance activities.

Below are some of the most important benefits of volunteering:

• Gives you a way to help others

• Helps improve your community

• Can help strengthen your resume and college applications
• Can be a way to meet new friends
• Often results in personal growth
• Gives you a way to gain work experience and learn more about certain jobs

What’s More
This time, we will try to evaluate whether you have the qualities of a good volunteer. Just
simply put a check mark ( ) on each criteria if you think you possess those qualities of a
good volunteer.
Qualities Yes No
1. Have a fearless approach
2. Have infinite patience
3. Can think creatively
4. Eager to take initiative
5. Stay humble about their work
6. Can work in teams
7. Driven by passion
8. Can work independently
9. Is flexible to different works
10. Is a leader

If you got seven Yes out of the ten qualities, it only shows that you are a good volunteer.
Remember that anyone can volunteer, but being a great volunteer requires much more than
the willingness to hop on a plane and work on a project.

2
What Is It

We have known that one way to be involved in the community is through

volunteering. And there are ways in which we can volunteer our self. Do you have
something in your mind? Yes, exactly. It is through joining a community outreach program.
Community outreach is tied-up in giving, contributing, and helping the individuals who
can't support themselves. It additionally permits us to impact more youthful ages to offer
back to the community. It enables the community to develop considerably. In addition to the
fact that it makes you feel better, it also unites the community all in all. Volunteering
has demonstrated to help support the self-assurance of people, getting them out of their
customary range of familiarity, and managing genuine issues. It likewise can bring certain
viewpoints to see that you might not have known about until you see others out of luck.
To create a community outreach program, you will need to go through some initial
planning. And here are some steps to initially create a community outreach program.
1. Identify people who can help you plan a success outreach event. Solicit help from
people who have a passion and interest in outreach.
2. Determine what demographic you would like to reach because this will dictate much
of the other planning pieces of the outreach.
3. Once you determine the group you want to target, make sure you can answer the
question – why are we targeting this group?
4. Make sure you know what your reach community needs. Don’t make assumptions find
out what the real needs are.
5. Timing is everything so make sure you schedule your outreach at a time that works
well with your target audience.
6. Determine the best way to market the event. For example, if you are reaching an
elderly population use the services they use to help you get the word out.
7. Determine the activities for the event. For instance if your outreach is to reach local
families, create events that kids like to attend.
8. Create an organizational chart for the outreach. Identify each area of the outreach.
Then assign an oversight person, team leaders and assistant leaders for each area.

To build a more grounded relationship, it is significant for the communities to know

what your identity is and what you are about. You don't need the general population to see
you just while requesting more significant compensations or asking the educational
committee to pass the budget plan. What you need is continuous permeability in your
networks so when you do contact them, it isn't just during an emergency. Networks need to
see a greater amount of what your identity is and what you are about.

What’s More

Are you ready to create your own outreach program? If it is a yes, then answer the
following questions below. Please answer simply and honestly the questions.

3
1. If you have to propose to create an outreach program, what would it be and why?

2. How will your proposed outreach program benefit your community?

What’s New

Dance Activity as an Outreach Program

There are various opportunities for you as a learner to engage in these outreach
endeavors. Learners can volunteer in different outreach programs. There are likewise
opportunities for learners to seek after positions of authority with every one of the group.
However, in this time of the pandemic, it is very timely to create an outreach program that
would promote the health and fitness of the community. There is no better way to advocate
health and fitness but through engaging physical activities like dance.

In urban or rural communities, dance activity plays an important role with significant
commercial and cultural benefits. Aside from the fact that dance promotes health, fitness,
stress-reduction, and long life, it also builds activity for groups and communities at large. It
also extends social and cultural cooperation, and give a general network sentiment of
prosperity and harmony. The inspiration conferred to the learners gives self-restraint which
shows itself in an assortment of socially useful ways.

Summary

us into a day to day existence we have consistently longed for. It drove us into an existence
where only a tick of a mouse or only a press of the enter key in our keyboard can get things
going at a moment. Be that as it may, is this the sort of life that we have envisioned?
Regularly of our lives is a danger that quickly, as quick as the snap of the mouse, is the
inclination to create way of life infections brought about by inactive way of life.

Those being said, dance yourself out and master festival dancing and its relation to
your fitness. Influence your family and community. Share the concepts and principles you
have learned without asking anything in return. Things will just come back to us the least we
expect them to be. Just take care of the minutes, and the hours will take care of themselves.
