Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

Learning Area : MATHEMATICS

Quarter : FIRST
Week : TWO
Grade Level : 4
Duration : 50-minute
I. CONTENT AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS, LEARNING COMPETENCIES AND OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate knowledge and understanding of
A. Content Standard 1. properties of triangles and quadrilaterals.
By the end of the quarter, the learners are able to:

B. Performance Standard 1. classify triangles and quadrilateral, and differentiate quadrilaterals, by applying
their properties. (MG)
The learners:
C. Learning Competencies 1. classify triangles and quadrilaterals according to sides and angles.

At the end of the lesson the learners will able to:

1. classify triangles according to its sides and angles. (Knowledge)
D. Learning Objectives 2. draw and describe different kinds of triangle. (Skills)
3. tell the importance of triangle in real life. (Affective)

E. Content Classifying Triangles by Sides and Angles

Obedience, Embracing uniqueness and self-confidence like the different types of
F. Integration triangles.
II. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. Reference LM and TG Mathematics 4
B. Other Learning Resources
III. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURES
Preliminary Activities:
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
Review: Let me HANDle this!
Directions: Using the teacher’s hand and arms, he will demonstrate the different types
of angle (acute angle, obtuse angle and right angle) and the different lines

A. Activating Prior (perpendicular lines, intersecting lines and parallel lines) and for the second round let
Knowledge the learners use their hands to demonstrate the given angles and lines.
1. Acute Angle
2. Obtuse Angle
3. Right Angle
4. Perpendicular lines
5. Intersecting lines
6. Parallel lines
B. Establishing Lesson Motivation:
Purpose The teacher will present a story with the title THE OBEDIENT CHILD and let the
whole class read the story with a twist.
The Obedient Child
In the peaceful barangay called Apo, there is a happy family living in the
moutainside. Tatay Bilog and Nanay Oblong are the responsible parents of Kuya
Parihaba and Ate Parisukat and their youngest named Bunso Tatsulok.
One day, Tatay Bilog and Nanay Oblong need to go to the farm to harvest
Durian and Lansones. So Tatay Bilog reminds his three children Kuya Parihaba,
Ate Parisukat and Bunso Tatsulok just to stay at home! Tatay Bilog said, “Do not
go and play outside, it's too hot already”. And the three children nodded.
After a few minutes, Kuya Parihaba and Ate Parisukat went outside their house
and played under the sun while Bunso Tatsulok followed his mother reminder to stay
inside the house.
During night time Nanay Oblong noticed that Kuya Parihaba and Ate Parisukat
have cough and cold. She asked them what happened. The two children told the truth
that they went outside and played
Instead of being angry Nanay Oblong hugged the two children for telling the
truth, and gave Bunso Tatsulok a big hug for being obedient. After which Tatay
Bilog and Nanay Oblong give advised their two children, Kuya Parihaba and Ate
Parisukat, to be like Bunso Tatsulok to be always obedient.

Afterwards, ask the following questions to the students:

1. Who are the characters in the story?
2. Where is the main setting of the story?
3. What did the mother tell them before going to the farm?
4. Who among the 3 children followed mother’s reminder?
5. What moral lesson did you get from the story?
 Ask the learner, who is the main character of the story?

Our lesson for today is all

about kinds of triangle
 Tell them that lesson for today is all about kinds of triangle.
Explain to the learners that they will learn about triangles, its different types and their
properties.
Triangles can be classified according to sides as:
1. Equilateral Triangle 2. Isosceles Triangle 3. Scalene Triangle
Also, triangles can be classified according to angle as:
1. Acute Triangle 2. Obtuse Triangle 3. Right Triangle
Activity 1: Up and Down
Direction: Students will stand UP if the statement is right and they will sit DOWN if
C. Developing and Deepening
Understanding the statement is wrong.
1. An obtuse triangle has a right angle which measures 90 degrees.
2. Right triangle has three acute angles each measuring less than 90 degrees.
3. An obtuse triangle measures more than 90 degrees.
4. An isosceles triangle has only two equal sides.
5. An equilateral triangle that has no equal sides.
6. An equilateral triangle that has three equal sides.
7. A triangle has 3 sides and 4 angles
C. Developing and Deepening Activity 2: TRI-ART-GLE
Understanding *Group the class into 4.
*Each group will be provided by glue, scissors, white cartolina and colored papers.
*Instruct them that to draw and cut any form of triangles and after that they will put it
together to form any artwork.
*After 10 minutes, the group will select a reporter to present their artwork by
describing the different triangles they used.
*Present to the class the rubrics as basis for their grades.
RUBRICS:
Creativity: 40%
Use of different kinds of triangles 20%
Neatness 20%
Presentation of Output 20%
Total 100%
Importance of Triangle
*Let the students to look around the classroom and let them find some triangle
objects.
*Also ask them common objects they have seen outside the classroom that is in
triangular form.
*After that ask students why triangle is an important shape?
*Let the student, complete the concept map below:

Triangle

D. Making Generalization

*Ask students what importance value we can get from our lesson today?

IV. EVALUATING LEARNING

E. Formative Assessment Test I. Multiple Choice: (1 point each item)
Direction: Write the letter of the correct answer on the space provided before each
item.
______1. Which of the following does not belong to the group?
A. Scalene Triangle B. Acute Triangle C. Obtuse Triangle D. Right Triangle
______2. Which of the following statement below is TRUE about obtuse triangle?
A. All angles in an obtuse triangle are obtuse angle.
B. An obtuse triangle has a right angle which measures 90 degrees.
C. An obtuse triangle has an angle that measures more than 90 degrees.
D. An obtuse triangle has two angles that measures more than 90 degrees.
______3. The figures below are classification of triangles according to its sides, except;
A. B. C. D.

______4. Why triangle consider as an important shape?

I. Triangles are effective tools for architecture and are used in the design of buildings and other
structures.
II. In art, a triangle is one of the most powerful compositional shapes because it may help to
create a sense of visual unity.
III. The building’s triangular design gives it added strength.
IV. Triangles are utilized to support bridge structures because they uniformly distribute weight
without distorting dimensions.
A. I, II and III B. I, III and IV C. II, III and IV D. I, II, III and IV
______5. Which statement below is NOT TRUE?
A. Scalene triangle has no equal sides while equilateral triangle all sides are equal.
B. In a right triangle, all angles are equal to 90 degrees while in an acute triangle, all angles are
less than 90 degrees.
C. If the triangle has two equal sides, it is an isosceles triangle while if it’s one angle that
measures more than 90 degrees it is called an obtuse triangle.
D. The sum of the angles inside the triangle is 180 degrees.
Test II. Draw and Describe:

Direction: Draw and describe the given triangle below. (2 points each)
6. Scalene Triangle
7. Equilateral Triangle
8. Acute Triangle
