Aim: Prepare detailed problem statement, advantages and scope for the allocated
problem.

Problem Statement
Lack of an online platform for the hotel management company can mean management of reservations and
operations becomes out of hand. In the absence of an online platform, the booking process is all manual,
whereby most inefficiencies, such as double bookings and scheduling conflicts, occur. Affected by poor
communication channels, customer service has to suffer. The unavailability of online reservation
functionality reduces the possibility for most of the customers to weigh potential guests. Thus, the
potential for revenue opportunity also decreases. This is not only an outdated approach that hampers
operational efficiency, but it also fails to meet the contemporary expectations of consumers and puts a
business at competitive disadvantage. There is no better way to increase operational excellency in your
hotel than to implement a lean hotel management system with a comprehensive e-platform as the ticket to
guest satisfaction. Life in the digital frontier now covers competitiveness.

Objective

The major goal of this project work will be the development of an all-rounded hotel management
system consisting of an online user-friendly platform comprising:

 Online Booking and Reservations: Design a user-friendly interface where guests can
log on easily to book rooms, check the availability status, and do all reservations online.
 Automated Room Allocation and Scheduling: Develop a system that aids room
allocation, maintaining room availability, and check-in/check-out management.
 Real-Time Availability and Booking Management: The Guests as well as the staff will
have access to real-time room availability, booking statuses, and hotel schedules.
 Accurate and Safe Data: Guests' and operational data has to be accurate and safe;
confidentiality and reliability meet the highest standards.
 Improved Communication and Assistance: Enhance guest support by means of
providing a streamlined communication channel for inquiries, feedback, and assistance.
 Advanced Reporting and Analytics: Provide strong reporting and analytical tools for
strategic decision-making and to maintain a record of performance metrics and trending
information that drives business improvements.

Scope
This is an extension of a hotel management system, where a new website will be developed for the
following mentioned attributes of features:

 Website Development: A user-friendly webpage through which guests can view room
availability, make reservations, and manage their bookings online.
 Room Booking and Management: Automating room booking operations, that includes checking
room availability in real-time, reservation confirmations, cancellations
 Reservation System: Room Assignments; check-ins, check-outs, monitoring booking status for
efficient utilization of rooms.
 Guest Information System: Guests have to be informed regularly of the room vacancy, booking
status, and any variations or delays in their bookings.
 Communication Module: Easy communication between guests and hotel staff, allowing for
efficient handling of inquiries, feedback, and service requests.
 Reports & Analytics: Extensive reporting and analytics of occupation rates, booking trends, and
other performance metrics that drive strategic decisions.

Advantages
