Dedication’s what ya need!’ That is, if you want to be a
record breaker. And it’s true. When it comes to performance
cars these days, the bar set by the best of the best is
incredibly high. So high, in fact, that you often wonder how it
will ever be bettered. And yet it does. But this is not something
that happens by accident. It takes hours of blood, sweat and
grazed knuckles, and often extremely deep pockets and a
relentless drive to succeed. One person with such unending
ambition to take his car to the top is Adam Flowers. With the
help of Honda tuning gurus Clockwise Motion and TDi North he
has managed to build an FN2 Civic Type R with a record
breaking 765bhp. And this is no drag or Time Attack monster,
but a useable daily driver, albeit one with a rollcage. Check out
how it was done on page 18.
But while Adam may be the only owner in this month’s issue
to have managed to take his build to record breaking heights,
he’s far from the only one with an almost religious devotion to
his modified ride. Joining Adam’s Civic on the cover this month
is another build that is dripping in next level attention to detail.
Owned by Conrad Bradley, this has got to be one of, if not the,
best AE86s in the country. A painstaking 12-year build from the
ground up using only the finest JDM components it is a work of
art, but he’s not been a slave to the history books, as he’s also
added his own touch to the car by commissioning his own
design of custom box arches. They may not be JDM originals,
but they look period perfect and take the build to another level.
Other owners displaying equally insane levels of dedication
are Irishman Nathan Noone, who defied the doubters to build a
rear-wheel drive 2JZ-engined Mitsubishi Evo, and New
Zealander Aiden Barrett, who put off his home renovations to
put the money towards buying his dream RX-7 instead. And you
would likely too given the chance, especially considering that it
is a genuine JGTC racer from RE Amemiya in Japan. What a
machine! But then this is the calibre of cars we scour the globe
to bring you each and every month. We seek out those with
drive and determination and the world’s most amazing builds
are never far behind. Enjoy!
