CERTIFICATE
This is to certify the internship at Aegis logistics limited has been Satisfactorily completed by
Bhalala Dhruv. (enrollment no: - 229788319004), under my guidance in the fulfillment of the
course summer internship (4351901) work during the academic year 2023-2024.
Aegis Logistics Limited is in the business of import and distribution of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and storage
and terminalling facility for LPG and chemical products. The company has storage facilities at Mumbai, Haldia,
Pipavav. Kochi, Kandla and Mangalore
AEGIS- Kandia Terminal is situated at near the kandla port a seaport in Kutch District of Gujarat state in western
India and also 18 km away from Gandhidham city
AEGIS-Kandla LPG import terminal was commissioned in 2021 with the existing capacity of 3 MTPA LPG Import
Plant, Kandla is a leading LPG Import facility available at the Western Coast of India the LPG terminal is designed
for the import of Propane and Butane and distribution of LPG according to IS 4576. The gas carriers discharge
liquid Propane/Butane via two cross country lines which connect the marine unloading arm on the Jetty with the
storage tanks at terminal approx. 45 KM away from Jetty. Propane/Butane/LPG is received in parcels varying from
5000 MT to 30000MT ship tankers. It is pumped by ship's pumps at a rate of 562.5 T/PH through two marine
unloading arms of dia 12" and transferred to the storage tanks via two 16" pipelines Pure Propane & Butane are
stored in refrigerated condition in two above ground Tanks of approx. 24000 MT capacities each. Then the
products are heated & blended for manufacturing LPG and dispatched mainly through road tanker and existing
pipeline for GAIL and IOCL
Chapter:1 Utility Section
Utility building section consists of 2-FOG and 2-BOG compressor (Ground floor) 2-Heater. 2- Receiver (1 floor), 2-Subcooler
(on 2 floor) and 3-Condenser (on top floor)
Propane/Butane is stored at atmospheric pressure Pressure of tank increases in case of unicading of Liquid from Jetty into
tank and boil off due to higher atmospheric temperature Two no Refrigeration Compressors (Screw Type) are operated
when pressure of Tank increases due to unloading of liquid from jetty Similarly. Two no Boll off Compressors (Screw Type)
are operated continuously to maintain tank pressure in case of Belt Off of vapor Compressor Area shall be under Hazardous
Area Zone-2. Gas Group AB Temp Class T3
1. FOG/BOG Compressor.
This type of compressor is rotary screw compressor consists of two intermeshing screws or rotors which trap gas between
the rotors and the compressor case. The motor drives the male rotor which in tum drives the female rotor. Both rotors are
encased in a housing provided with gas inlet and outlet ports. Gas is drawn through the inlet port into the voids between
the rotors. As the rotors move, the volume of trapped gas is successively reduced and compressed by the rotors coming into
mesh.
in the oil-flooded screw type compressor, the lubricant is injected into the gas which is trapped inside of the stator. In this
case, the lubricant is used for cooling sealing and lubrication. The gas is removed from the compressed gas-lubricant
mixture in a separator.
CHAPTER: -2 HEATER
We are generally heating the Cryogenic Propane and Butane in a shell and tube type heat exchanger with the help of
cooling tower water, whereas cooling waters are flow in a continuous manner through shell side in and out through shell
side out and simultaneously cryogenic Propane / Butane are flows into the heater through tube side in and out through
tube side out, hence heating up of propane/butane carried out
In LPG Terminal, heating of Propane/Butane shall be done in respective shell and tube type heaters to heat up to 15°C.
Design data
Two no. of receiver specially designed for stored condensate liquid/gas of Propane/Butane/LPG during compressor
operation. While receivers are used as a substitute role for maintained the cryogenic tank pressure and as per operation
purpose, we can transfer those condensates to Mounded bullet/Tanker loading/ to the respective tank through LCV.

Design code
Capacity: 6.5 m³
Operating pressure:
3 no. of shell and tube type condensers are generally used for condensation of compressor discharge gas with the help of water.
Condensation happened due to compressor discharge gas are goes into the condenser through shell side in o out and
simultaneously out through tube side out. While this operation reduction of das temperature by the removal of the latent heat of
evaporation cooling water are flows into the condenser through on top side and out through shell side and tube side out.

Chapter: 5 Cooling Tower:
An induced draft tower is a type of mechanical draft tower which has one or more fans, located at the top of the tower, that
draw air upwards against the downward flow of water passing around the wooden decking or packing. Since the airflow is
counter to the water flow, the coolest water at the bottom is in contact with the driest air while the warmest water at the
top is in contact with the moist air, resulting in increased heat transfer efficiency Induced draft tower comes in square
shape and the distribution of water may be done by static branch system.
1 No. of Induced Draft Cooling Tower comprising 4 Nos cells (3W+1S) and basin, each of capacity 700 M³/Hr. Total 4 no. of
Cooling Water Pumps are installed to fulfill the requirement of cooling tower for each area like Heater, Condenser, Air
compressor, LPG gas compressor etc.
Design data:
Capacity: 2100 m³
Design temperature: 7 °C
Terminal has been provided 2 no. of fire water tank with 9800 KL and for distributing of this water to each area
inside the terminal through 24 fire line header no of diesel pump with rated capacity of 410 m³/hr and 2 no. of
jockey pump with rate capacity of 130 m³/hr are installed. The entire fire water systems are in auto mode inside
the tecipato meet with minor leakages jockey pump is installed to maintains the pipe net work under pressure.
On drop of pre-set water pressure due to leakages or any other reason, jockey will operate automatically & stop
at preset pressure.
Fire Hydrant:
Fire hydrants consist of both double and single hydrant type which is connected directly to the main fire header
line to provide water to every hydrant outlet and is intended to provide water for the firemen for connecting the
fire hose to fight a fir
Fire Extinguisher:
The normal extinguishing medium for LPG fires is dry powder (ABC), which is propelled by nitrogen. The Master is
to ensure that all Officers are familiar with the operation of this equipment, and the technique to be used in
fighting a LPG fire.
iv. Deluge valve system:
Deluge systems deliver large quantities of water, over a large area, in a relatively short period of time. They are
commonly used in fixed fire protection systems whose pipe system is empty until the deluge valve distributes
pressurized water from open nozzles or sprinklers
ESD is designed to minimize the consequences of emergency situations, related to typically uncontrolled flooding,
escape of hydrocarbons, or outbreak of fire in hydrocarbon carrying areas or areas which may otherwise be
hazardous.
