Ouestions 4 and 5 are based on the following case study. Answer BOTH questions.

The conservation practices of the farmers of Perth

Perth, aruraI settlement located in the hilly district of Mount Rosa, is the bread basket for the island and
has a population of 900. Researchers from the Rural DevelopmentAgency were interested in the farming
techniques used in the area. Two hundred farmers between the ages of 18 and 65 formed the sample for the
study. The researchers interviewed the farmers and observed their farming techniques. They discovered
that 80 of the farmers practised tenacing,5O contour ploughing, 40 agro forestry and 30 mixed cropping.
The findings were documented and presented to farmers at a Conservation meeting.
