Garudalytics- Resurvey customized plugins
Version 1.0
Introduction
This guide describes how to use the QGIS plugin village map layout work. It
assumes no previous knowledge of the Plugin or any of the applications that it
rely on. It assumes basic knowledge of QGIS.

This guide is designed for self-study or to be used for running village map layout
plugin.

1. Access ORI

Loading the Project

1.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project by the operator as shown
below.

1.2. Click on the sslr plugin and click on ‘Access ORI’ tab and the plugin
will display as shown below

Inputs

1.3. Give the necessary inputs. If there is access to the server, enter the
village code and if there is no access to the server, enter the URL of the
ORI as shown below.

Outputs

Output:

1.4. After clicking on ‘View’, the ORI is loaded and displayed on the
canvas.

1.5. Click on ‘Download’ and give the output path (as shown below) to
start downloading the ORI.

2. Auto trace

Loading the Project

2.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and click on ‘Auto Trace’ tab
and the plugin will display as shown below.

2.2. Browse the CSV layer using ‘Browse CSV Data’ button.

Note: After browsing the CSV layer, a pop-up indicating basic checks to
be done in the data in the CSV layer is shown. Please make sure the data
in the csv layer is checked according to the basic checks indicated in the
pop-up.

2.3. Provide all the necessary inputs i.e., Projection of the data, ID field
in the CSV data, X-field in the CSV data and Y- filed in the CSV data.
2.4. Select the output layer type i.e., point, polyline or polygon.
2.5. Enter the field name and field type to add the fields to the output
vector layer or the csv file.
2.6. Check the ‘Add fields to CSV’ box to add the fields to the CSV data.
2.7. Select the output path.

Output

2.8. After clicking on ‘Run’, the output will display as shown below.
Here, ‘Polyline’ is selected as output layer type.

2.9. The required field is added in the attribute fields of vector file.

2.10. Since the ‘Add fields to CSV’ box is checked, the required field is
also added in the CSV data.

3. Base map Plugin
Loading the project

3.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and load the desired shape
files as shown below.

3.2. Click on the ‘base map Plugin’ tab and the plugin will display as shown below

Output

3.3. Select the desired base map to load into the project i.e., Open
Street Map, Google satellite Hybrid, Google Terrain Hybrid, Mapzen
Global Terrain etc. and click on ‘Load Base map’.
3.4. The selected base map is loaded into the project as shown below.

4. Buffer Generation
Loading the Project

4.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and load the desired shape
files into the project as shown below.

4.2. Click on ‘Buffer generation’ tab and the plugin will display as shown
below.

Inputs

4.3. Select the input layer from the layer panel using the drop-down.
4.4. Check the ‘Selected features only’ box if the buffer is to be generated
only for the selected features and select the features in the shape file.
4.5. Enter the necessary inputs i.e., buffer distance and segments.
4.6. Check the ‘Dissolve Result’ box if it is required to dissolve the
boundary of the shape file.

Output

4.7. Click on ‘Generate Geodesic Buffer’ and the resultant output will
display as shown below.
Here, ‘Selected features only’ box is checked, hence, the buffer is
generated only for the selected features.

5. Cartography Tools

Loading the Project

5.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and load all the necessary
layers desired by the operator as shown below.

5.3. Search the required tool using ‘Search’ option or find the tool
manually in the plugin.

5.4. After selecting the ‘Create Grid’ tool, fill all the necessary inputs as
shown below.

Rename Field

5.89. Load the required layers into the project and click on ‘Rename Field’
tool.

input layer as required.

renamed field.

Add Fields to attribute table

5.92. Load the required layers into the project and click on ‘Add Fields to
attribute table’ tool.

5.95. Load the required layers into the project and click on ‘Field
Calculator’ tool.
5.96. Provide all the necessary inputs and also the necessary
expressions.

5.97. Click on RUN and we can see the new field is added and the values
are calculated based on the expression entered.

6. Clip Multiple Layers


Loading the Project

6.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and click ‘Clip Multiple
Layers’ tab and the plugin will display as shown below.

6.4. Select the method of clipping i.e., Freehand, Window or Vector.

7.1. Measure Length


7.1.1. Load a line shape file into the project and select a line feature.
7.1.2. Select the type of measurement from the drop down and click on
‘Measure Length’ tool and we can see the length of the line displayed
as shown below.

7.2.1. Load a polygon shape file into the project and select a polygon
feature.
7.2.2. Select the type of measurement from the drop down and click on
‘Measure Area’ tool and we can see the length of the line displayed as

8. Coordinate Converter
Loading the Project

8.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and click on ‘Coordinate
Converter’ tab and the plugin will display as shown below.

8.3. Provide all the necessary inputs as shown below.
8.4. Select the output type, Shape file, CSV file or KML file.

9. Correlation Map Layout
Loading the Project

9.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and click on ‘Correlation
Map Layout’ tab and the plugin will display as shown below.

9.2. Browse all the necessary layers into the plugin and check the boxes
which are browsed.
9.3. Provide all the necessary inputs in the buttons designated and select
the paper size and orientation as shown below.
9.4. Select the output path using ‘Browse Output’ button.

9.5. Click on ‘Layout Preview’ to view the correlation map in the layout
window as shown below.

10.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select for new project and load desired shape files
into the project as shown below.

10.2. After clicking on the ‘Create a point by input of coordinates’ plugin it
will display like below.

10.3. Enter coordinates in the provided buttons as required by the operator


as shown below.

11. Digitizing tools
Loading the project

11.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select the new project and load desired shape files
to project as shown below.

11.2. After clicking on the ‘Digitizing Tools’ plugin it will display like below.

11.4. Click on ‘Toggle Editing’ to set the layer in editing mode.

11.6. Click on ‘Toggle Advanced Digitizing Tools’ to enable advanced


digitizing tools.
11.7. Click on ‘Toggle Construction Mode’ and provide the necessary
inputs as shown below.

11.9. Select the ‘Parallel Action’ to select the lines which are parallel and
‘Perpendicular Action’ to select the lines which are perpendicular.
11.10. Select ‘Common Angle Constraint’ to select the lines at the already
selected angles.
11.11. Select the ‘Toggle floater’ to display the toggle info on the project
canvas as shown below.

12. Generate Tiles


Loading the project

12.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select the new project and click on ‘Generate Tiles’
tab and the plugin will display as shown below.

Inputs

12.2. Load the necessary layers into the plugin.


12.3. For ‘Tiles’, select the paper size, orientation, scale and the output
path as shown below.
12.4. Click on ‘Generate Grid’ to generate the grid and dissolve the entire
village and generate the village boundary.
12.5. Delete the unnecessary grids using ‘Delete Selection’ and then, click
on ‘Assign Labels’ to assign tile no’s to each grid.

12.6. Select the paper size, orientation and scale to generate index map.

12.7. For larger villages, use ‘Index Map Break’ to break the village into
parts as desired.
12.8. Select the paper size, orientation and scale to generate index map
break.
12.9. Select the output path, and click on ‘Generate Grid’ to generate the
grid.
12.10. Delete the unnecessary parts using ‘Delete Selection’ and click on
‘Assign Labels’ to assign no’s to each part.

Tiles

12.11. Click on ‘Generate Layout’ in Tiles part to generate tile map for the
village. The tile map opened in the layout window is shown below.

12.12. Click on ‘Generate Layout’ in Index Map part to generate Index Map

17. LPM Generation
Loading the project

17.1. Open qgis 3.24.1. Select the new project and click on ‘LPM
Generation’ plugin and it will display as shown below.

Inputs

17.2. Browse the village shape file and the side village boundary layer.
17.3. Select the output folder and click on ‘create topo layers’ to create
empty topo point, line and polygon layers into the project with editing
mode on and draw the topo features for each of topo point, line and
polygon.

Draw the topo features in all the topo layers while selecting the
corresponding topo feature code from the drop down and save for each
feature.

NOTE: In the cases where topo polygon feature crosses the LPM
boundary, the topo feature symbology for the topo features is to be
applied again after clipping the polygon features by manually selecting
the polygon and applying the topo feature.

17.5. Assign the LPM no’s to the topo point, topo line and topo polygon
features by clicking on ‘Assign Topo Point LP. no’, ‘Assign Topo Line LP. no’
and ‘Assign Topo Polygon LP. no’ respectively.

NOTE 1: For the topo point features which are on the boundary of the
LPM, the LPM numbers are assigned after the LPM generation.

NOTE 2: For the topo polygon features which are beyond the LPM
boundaries, LPM numbers are assigned after clipping the topo polygon
feature.

17.6. If there are polygons drawn beyond the LPM boundaries, then
select the topo polygon layer in the dropo down and click on ‘Clip Topo
Polygon Layer’.

17.7. In the case where the topo layers are loaded into the project, select
the topo layer in the tree view and then select each topo feature. After
that, select the topo layer from the drop down and then, select the
appropriate topo feature code. Then, click on ‘Apply’.

Similiarly, apply the topo feature symbology to all the topo features
in all the topo layers.

17.8. Select the LPM shape file in the drop down and select all the required
fields in the corresponding drop downs.

17.9. Click on ‘Lock Fields’ to rename the fields.

17.10. Click on ‘Generate LPM’ and the LPM generation is done as shown

17.11. Now, create a new line shape file and draw the frill lines at the tri-
junctions. (OR) Insert the already existing frill line layer into the layer

Loading the project

generated with editing mode ON. Here, the intersection of the stone
layers are removed manually and each layer is saved.

Here, the yellow dotted line indicates the offset line, the cutting length is
displayed on the diagonal line and the offset distance is being displayed in
the plugin itself.
