Candle Carousel
Materials:
2 or 3 Candles
Piece of thick paper
Bamboo stick
Directions:
1. Cut a spiral from a circle of thick paper https://images.app.goo.gl/Rcm8QomATgVJfasW7
2. Hang the spiral paper on the top of the bamboo stick
3. Lit the candles and place it under the spiral thick paper. (Note: Make sure that the fire won’t touch the paper)
4. Observe what happens to the paper.
Note: Take a picture or video of your candle carousel for you to have data about conversion of heat engines to
be put on your product output in your performance task. In this section, you will not yet include the taken
picture or video of yours, instead you are going to study it in order for you to answer the process questions
below.

In celebration of energy conservation week, Colegio San Jose de Alaminos plans to collaborate with the local
office of the Department of Energy to organize a student-initiated campaign on conserving energy. You as Environmental
scientist/advocate is tasked to prepare a multimedia campaign (power point presentation, brochure, or video) that will
explain to the public the need to conserve energy by emphasizing how much resources and work are involve in generating
electricity and distributing it to homes. The campaign must show the role of heat transfer and energy transformation
involved in the process. You will gather related data that will reinforce your claims in order to persuade the community to
support the campaign. The success of your campaign will be evaluated based on the concept, content, organization, and
significance.
