ADMISSION
UNDERGRADUATE COURSE IN ECONOMICS
SESSION 2023 - 2024
 The Lists are provisional and is subject to:
i. fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier.
ii. verification of the equivalence of marks/degrees from other
Boards/Councils to those of the West Bengal council of Higher
Secondary Education /Other equivalent Board/Council, wherever
applicable.
iii. correction in the merit position due to error, if any.

 All admissions are provisional.

 As per the order of Govt. of West Bengal [order no: 354-Edn(CS)/10M-


95/14 dated 02/6/2023], provisional admission of a candidate will stand
cancelled if the documents are found not in conformity with the
declaration in the forms submitted on-line at the time of verification.

 If at the time of counselling/admission and verification of marks, it is


found by the university authority that
 a student does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, s/he will not be
considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected
for admission.
 a student does not have completed result at +2 level, his/her
application shall be cancelled even if he/she is provisionally
selected for admission.
 a candidate has already graduated from a college with a
Bachelors degree, her/his application shall be cancelled even if
he/she is provisionally selected for admission, since s/he cannot
enrol herself/himself for another Bachelors degree course.
 a student had entered incorrect marks in his/her on-line
application form, his/her rank position in the selection/merit list
provided below shall be revised and corrected accordingly on the
basis of actual marks obtained in the examination concerned.

 Those candidates who have already been admitted to any


autonomous college/institution or college/institution affiliated to
other universities

(a) in a Bachelor’s Course in the current session (2023- 24), shall


be required to produce a withdrawal/cancellation certificate
from the college/institution concerned at the time of
counselling/admission to this university. If they are unable to submit
it at the time of counselling/admission, they may apply to the
Principal Secretary, Faculty of Arts for extension of time. Under no
circumstances such candidates will be allowed to submit the
“withdrawal certificate/ cancellation certificate” after 7 days
after admission, failing of which his/her admission shall be
cancelled;

(b) in a Bachelor’s Course in the session 2022-23 or before, shall


be required to submit an affidavit (on a Non-Judicial Stamp
Paper) at the time of counselling/admission to this university that

that s/he will be de-registering from that course. Proof of
application of de-registration/cancellation from the course
concerned must be submitted within 7 days after admission ,
failing of which her/his admission will be cancelled.

 Those candidates who have completed their 10+2 in 2022 or before


but have NOT taken admission in any undergraduate course, must
submit an affidavit (on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper) that they are
not registered in any other day course anywhere/elsewhere, failing of
which her/his admission will be cancelled.

 SC/ ST/ OBC A/ OBC B/ PD/ EWS quota as per rules.

 No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates.

 Candidates are to take admission in one subject only, even if their names
appear in more than one list. He/she will be permitted to transfer to
another subject if his/her turn comes in the merit order.

 If a candidate fails to appear on the specified date and at the


specified time for admission, the next candidate in order of merit
will be considered for admission.

 Candidates will be required to bring the following documents at the


time of counselling/admission:

A) A print out of the on-line application.


B) 2 (two) recent passport size photographs.
C) All original marksheets, certificates including SC/ST/OBC A/OBC
B/PD/ EWS certificates from competent authorities in the names
of the candidates themselves where applicable, are to be shown at
the time of interview for verification.
D) The Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification).
E) attested copies of all marksheets, certificates, Madhyamik Admit
Card/Certificate (for age verification) are to be sumitted at the
time of admission.
F) Parents/Guardian's income certificate issued by the employer with
office seal for the employed person and for others by an officer of
the State Govt. in the rank of B.D.O or above in the district/ their
equivalent counterparts (Group-A Officer).
G) If the provisionally selected candidate has completed his/her
10+2 in 2022 or before but have NOT taken admission in any
undergraduate course: An affidavit (on a non-Judicial Stamp
Paper) that he/she is not registered in any other day-course
anywhere/elsewhere (CLICK HERE for format)

 Hostel accommodation is very limited. However, outstation candidates may


apply to the Dean of Students for hostel accommodation. Interested candidates are
advised to enclose the following documents along with the filled-in application form
(Click here for Hostel Form) for Hostel Boardership to submit on the day of
counselling/ admission:

i. Attested copy of voter identity card (EPIC)/Residential certificate issued by


Gazetted officer/ Employer.
ii. Income certificate from the employer (with official seal) for the employed
person.
For others: for the purpose of determining the Annual Income of the parents/
guardians of the student an officer of the State Govt. in the rank of B.D.O or

above in the district/ their equivalent counterparts (Group-A Officer) elsewhere
will be competent to issue Income Certificate to be issued to each of such
students.
iii. SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC-A/ OBC-B certificate, if applicable.
iv. Copy of the Ration Card.

Note:

1. As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1,


D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10
dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/
Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled
to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West
Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year
residency in West Bengal issued by competent authority.

2. Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for


admission under PD category under RPD Act, 2016.

3. The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and
OBC- B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue
of the certificate should not be earlier than June 2022) issued by the
competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they
belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at
the time of counselling/ admission.

4. OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are
not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational
institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile
certificate of 10-year residency in West Bengal issued by competent
authority.

5. Reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) will be as per
notification no. 339-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023 dated 26 th May, 2023 from
Government of West Bengal.
6. The EWS certificate of 2023-24 financial year is only valid for admission
in this academic session.

XIII. Verification/Admission Process:

 Names of candidates in the provisional selection list will be called


on 31/7/2023 at 11 am. If any candidate fails to turn up on or
before 1:00 pm, the seat will be offered to the next candidate in
the List.

 If any vacancy arises after the admission of the candidates in the


provisional selection list, the vacancy will be filled up in order of
merit from amongst the waitlisted candidates. Names of the
candidates in the provisional waiting list will be called on
31/7/2023 at 1:15 pm. If any candidate fails to turn up (when
his/her name is called) the seat will be offered to the next
candidate in the waiting list and that candidate shall NOT be
allowed admission to this course later. They will be required to
produce all original mark sheets and certificates and other
documents as mentioned above. The process will continue till the
vacant seats are filled up. The rest of the candidates should
record their attendance.

XIV. CLASSES WILL BEGIN ON AUGUST 7, 2023 AT 11 AM.

 The candidates admitted to Undergraduate course in Economics should


have at least 50% attendance of total classes held during first seven(7)
warking days, failing which his/her studentship will be treated as cancelled
without further reference.

 The admitted students must have at least 60% attendance in each course
during the entire semester to be eligible for appearing in the Semester
examination as per the Examination Rules of the University.

 Vacancies, if any, along with the names of the waitlisted candidates


who have recorded their attendance will be notified on the website
on 18/8/2023 after 6.00 pm.

Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of
the university shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship
with the university to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any
ragging is noticed either in university hostel or on university campus.

If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned
student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found
satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the University.

 Details of on-line submission of anti-ragging affidavit shall be made


available by the Head, Department of Economics, at the time of

counselling.

 Print out of the anti-ragging affidavit submitted on-line by the student and
his/her parents must be submitted to the Head, Department of Economics
within 15 (fifteen) days from the commencement of classes.

If a student cancels his/her admission, he/she may apply for refund of the fees.
The fees will be refunded as per the D.O no.-F.2-71/2022 (CPP-II) dated
03/7/2023) by UGC. Refund of fees may take some time.
