INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, with far-reaching

consequences for the environment, economy, and society. As global temperatures continue to

rise and extreme weather events become more frequent, there is a growing urgency to take action

to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

One promising avenue for reducing our environmental footprint is the widespread

adoption of eco-friendly products. These products, which are designed to minimize resource use,

reduce pollution, and lower carbon emissions throughout their lifecycle, offer a potential solution

for mitigating climate change.

However, despite the growing popularity of eco-friendly products, their actual impact on

reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing the effects of climate change remains poorly

understood. While there is evidence to suggest that these products can lead to significant

environmental benefits, such as reduced energy consumption and waste generation, there is still

much to learn about their effectiveness in addressing the complex challenges of climate change.

This research seeks to fill this gap by systematically assessing the effects of using eco-

friendly products on minimizing the impact of climate change. By conducting a comprehensive

review of existing literature, analyzing case studies, and employing quantitative methods, this

study aims to provide a clearer understanding of the role that eco-friendly products can play in

mitigating climate change.

Through this research, we hope to not only contribute to the academic understanding of

this important topic but also provide valuable insights for policymakers, businesses, and

consumers seeking to take meaningful action to address climate change. By evaluating the

effectiveness of eco-friendly products in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and identifying

opportunities for improvement, we can move closer to creating a more sustainable and resilient

future for generations to come.

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well environmentally friendly items work to

lessen the effects of climate change. In comparison to conventional items, this study aims to

determine how much these products help to lowering carbon emissions, protecting natural

resources, and limiting environmental degradation. The research intends to offer useful insights

for consumers and companies in encouraging sustainable practices to prevent climate change by

analyzing the effectiveness of eco-friendly alternatives.

1. Which eco-friendly products could be effective in preventing climate change?

2. Which of the several causes of climate change can these products address?

3. Does using these environmentally friendly products significantly reduce the threat

posed by climate change?

Research scope and delimitation:

1. Product Categories
A broad spectrum of environmentally friendly items, such as renewable energy

technology, sustainable packaging materials, organic food products, and eco-friendly

consumer goods, will be the focus of the research. However, because of the scope of the

subject, it will not address every imaginable category of eco-friendly products.

2. Environmental Impact Assessment

The main objective of the study is to evaluate the direct and indirect environmental

effects of environmentally friendly products, with an emphasis on how they can help mitigate

climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It might not, however, go into great

detail about other environmental impacts or indicators outside of those that are pertinent to

mitigating climate change.

3. Lifecycle Analysis

From raw material extraction and production to distribution, usage, and disposal, the

study will take into account the entire lifecycle of environmentally friendly products. Due to

resource limitations, it might not be able to do thorough lifecycle assessments for every

product category.

4. Geographical Focus

The study's main objective is to evaluate how eco-friendly items contribute to local or

global climate change mitigation. However, in order to set the scene and highlight important

discoveries, case studies or examples from certain nations or areas could be included.

5. Time Frame
The study will mostly concentrate on how eco-friendly items are doing right now and

how they have affected climate change thus far. When appropriate, it may, nevertheless,

make reference to past patterns or forecasts for upcoming advancements.

6. Methodological Approach

A combination of quantitative and qualitative techniques, such as case studies,

literature reviews, and maybe statistical analysis, will be used in this investigation. However,

due to time and logistical limitations, it might not be able to carry out lengthy field tests or

longitudinal investigations.

7. Stakeholder Perspectives

A range of stakeholders, including corporations, consumers, legislators, and

environmental organizations, will have their perspectives taken into account in this research.

However, it might not carry out in-depth surveys or interviews or go extensively into the

viewpoints of specific stakeholders.

8. Policy Implications

Although the study may provide broad perspectives and suggestions for decision-

makers in government, business, and consumer sectors, it will not offer specific policy

recommendations or strategies for putting them into practice, as these may call for more

research and specialized knowledge in particular policy areas.

While appreciating the difficulties and limitations involved in such an undertaking, the

goal of this study is to offer a concentrated and thorough examination of the contribution of eco-

friendly items to climate change mitigation.

Review of Related Literature

Different methods have been emerging since the dawn of technology that helps in

diminishing the effects of climate change but there is a solution in which it not only helps in

reducing the pollution and carbon emissions in surroundings but also adhere on people on how to

conserve and be environment friendly. This method was directly related upon the creation of

different eco-friendly products.

Different types of eco-friendly products have been created and manufactured up to this

day. Starting from Eco-bag , different kitchen wares, utensils, clothes, and many more. This does

not only help the environment to be clean but it also serves as an alternative to modern day

plastics and many other materials that may potentially harm the ecosystem. According to CEC

France(18 July,2022) eco-friendly products have a lower impact on the environment throughout

their life cycle, i.e., from the raw materials used in their manufacturing, to their design, transport

to the end-user, their length of use and their capacity to be recycled.

There is no set standard in Europe of what makes an eco-friendly product, but here are

some criteria which can help identify products that, though sometimes more expensive, are likely

to be more sustainable and will save you money in the long run.

Based on MCR Safety(2021)The term “eco-friendly” gets used a lot and is applied to

many different products and items. However, using the word eco-friendly is somewhat vague

and confusing for many. It’s a buzzword you’ll probably hear thrown around a lot in coming

years due to the concerns over global warming and plastic pollution across the globe. So, we’re

going to highlight what exactly makes a product eco-friendly and explain the distinctions

between “green,” “eco-friendly,” and “sustainable.”

Eco-friendly items and materials are defined as being not environmentally harmful. These

products promote green living or green manufacturing methods that lessen the amount or types

of resources used. In short, eco-friendly products help the earth, not cause it harm.

Typically, eco-friendly products receive this designation based on the materials they

contain, the way they’re manufactured, packaged, and distributed, and how they’re used.

Thankfully, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) produces its Green Guides, providing all the

details for companies to follow and allowing consumers to know what is required to earn an eco-

friendly rating. For a product to be considered eco-friendly, a company must specifically call out

what makes a product good for the environment. Eco-friendly products should indicate on the

packaging or somewhere on the company’s website how the products are environmentally

harmless.

Be a little leery of “generalized” claims around this subject matter, as some companies

may throw out blanket terminology without providing much substance. Any company statement
that attempts to mislead users with false green claims is engaged in “greenwashing.” Don’t

worry; we’re going to tell you exactly how the products we designate as eco-friendly have

earned that distinction.

On the basis of Skipper Team(August 5, 2022)There is a lot of hype around the term

‘eco-friendly’ or ‘environmentally –friendly’, often used interchangeably. Several organisations,

advocacy groups, brands and individuals worldwide have jumped on the bandwagon of ‘going

green’. While it’s a great moment as humankind can no longer deny the existential crisis posed

by climate change, it’s equally important to understand what ‘eco-friendly’ actually means to

adopt it holistically as a 'way of life’. 'Eco' originates from the Latin root 'oeco', meaning

'household'. It's often used to indicate ‘habitat’, ‘home’, or ‘Earth’, so ‘eco-friendly’ means

Earth-friendly. According to the dictionary, being eco-friendly means being ‘designed to have

little or no harmful effect on the environment. Therefore, products, goods, events, and eco-

friendly services do not cost the planet. When thinking about products, it means considering

everything from where the product is sourced and made to the journey of how it’s delivered to

the consumers. Does any part of that process harm the planet? If so, it’s not entirely eco-friendly.
