The ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ is a war memorial located at the Kremlin wall, Moscow.

bagged the top spot for the ‘Best Smart City’ in India at the National Smart Cities Conclave 2023

the smart cities of India.
Leander Paes & Vijay Amritraj: Former Indian tennis players Leander Paes and Vijay Amritraj

Vulcan 20-20: In the UK, a laser called Vulcan 20-20 will become the most powerful in the world
when it is finished in 2029.
It is named as such because it will generate a main laser beam with an energy output of 20
Petawatts (PW) alongside eight high-energy beams with an output of up to 20 Kilojoules (KJ).
It will produce a beam one million, billion, billion times brighter than the most intense sunlight.
Sela Tunnel: It is the world's longest double lane, at an elevation of 13,000 ft in Arunachal Pradesh.
Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu: It has achieved a significant milestone by becoming
India's first Green Energy Archaeological Site.
Wetland City: Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has submitted
three nominations from India for Wetland City Accreditation (WCA) of Indore (Madhya Pradesh),
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) & Udaipur (Rajasthan) under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
Sports included in LA 2028 Olympics: The International Olympic Committee has confirmed it has
added Flag football, baseball, softball, cricket, lacrosse, and squash to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic
program.
Cricket has been played in the Olympics only once before, in Paris in 1900, when England
defeated France.

Bihar Kesari Samman: The award was given to 17 eminent individuals from the state, including folk
singer Padma Bhushan Sharda Sinha, Padmashri Dr. Shanti Rai, and Khan Sir.
Amol Muzumdar: He was appointed as head coach of Indian women's cricket team.
First Joint Naval Exercise of India and EU: India and the European Union (EU) conducted their
first joint naval exercise in the Gulf of Guinea.
Ballon d’Or Award: Lionel Messi has won the men's Ballon d'Or Award for a record-extending
eighth time.

Ballon d’Or award is an annual football award presented by French magazine France Football
since 1956 to honour the player deemed to have performed the best over the previous season.
City of Literature: Kozhikode has been recognised as the City of Literature, the first to hold the title
in the country, under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
India’s First Water University: India’s first water university is being established in Hamirpur, Uttar
Pradesh, within the Bundelkhand region.
Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI, a term that describes ‘the modelling of human mental functions by
computer programs’ has been named Collins Dictionary - Word of the Year 2023.
Angelo Mathews: He became the first cricketer to be ‘timed out’ in an international match during Sri
Lanka's World Cup clash against Bangladesh in New Delhi.
Biopic ‘800’: The biopic titled ‘800’ is based on the life of Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan,
who is renowned for being the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 800 wickets.
Diana Edulji: Former India captain Diana Edulji became the first Indian woman inducted into the
ICC Hall of Fame.
Hallucunate: The Cambridge Dictionary named ‘hallucinate’ as its Word of the Year for 2023.
Miss Universe 2023: Sheynnis Palacios, from Nicaragua, has been crowned Miss Universe for the
year 2023, marking her country's first win at the international beauty pageant.
Virat Kohli: Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI centuries and named the record for
most (50) ODI centuries.
He has also been awarded with the ‘player of the tournament’ title in the ICC World Cup 2023.
