EO Core Values Exercise
EO Core Values Exercise
CORE VALUES: the qualities and behaviours that we are most deeply drawn to and aligned with.
Who we are, what we support and what we wish to create in the world - things that we live for
AND fight for PARTICULARLY when things are hard. (Think back and remember one of those
times)
Quickly skim the following words - FEEL whether it is a word that your best self embodies - you
would describe as - or your best self behaves as.
Cross out those that are NOT you & circle 15-20 that FEEL right.
Write out the 15 - 20 words that you circled from the previous pages:
1. Now look through those words - and put a line through any that are duplicates - or are very
close in meaning to another word - and another word is stronger.
2. Do any of the words represent something you would LIKE to be or have but it doesn’t come
easily to you? If so, then may be it’s a want / dream and not a value, draw a line through those.
3. Are any of the words something you do/are to achieve something else? If they are, draw a line
through them
4. Circle any of the words that very much described you (as you remember, as others tell you)
when you were a small child - 6 to 10 years old.
Now write the 5-7 words below that remain on your list - or that you are most drawn to
after answering the questions above...
The strongest values have a verb & adjective... so they might sound like “Communicate Courageously”
or “Authentic Optimism” - now create 3 Core Values phrases that feel powerful for you!
