setting up your workspace

Separate your learning space as much as possible. You can have different lights in your
room for learning and different for playing games, You can listen to different music,
create a separate workspace on your PC that does not show any links to your favourite
games, create a separate account on your browser with tabs only related to learning and
so on.

Make sure the room is well lit. Use the daylight if possible, or the main light you use in the
room. Choose a position for your desk, so you don’t put shadow on your notes.

Clear all distractions. Turn off notifications on your phone, put it away or set It in flight
mode. Even better if you do all three so nothing interrupts you.

Clean your desk from any unnecessary objects. Put them on the shelf or in the drawer.
Some research suggests that clutter makes it harder to concentrate, so it’s better to keep
your desk clean.

Open your learning content map or plan to know what is next for you to learn.

Keep water around to stay hydrated as it is really important for effective brain functioning.

Open your note-taking app or notebook if you prefer to take notes on paper.

Put some ambient music on headphones if that helps you. You can also check some free
brain supporting music from apps like MyNoise, Medito, Blanket, Noice and Calm.com

If you’re about to learn something that you procrastinate with a lot, make the surroundings
even more rewarding: get some of your favorite snacks, or move to your favorite space
for that session.
