Lesson 4
Lesson 4
INTRODUCTION
- Xác định ‘Subject - verb - what - where - when’ để viết introduction
- Hướng dẫn các cách paraphrase “what”:
OVERVIEW
In general/ Overall While A witnessed/ experienced a
substantial/ significant/considerable
increase, B saw an opposite trend.
Note: Không viết số liệu trong phần overview. Không dùng đại từ nhân xưng như
“As you can see from the chart,…” hoặc “We can see that…”
BODY
- Chia đoạn
● Nhóm các đường có cùng xu hướng thành 1 nhóm
● Hoặc nhóm các đường có xu hướng trái ngược thành 1 đoạn - các đường còn
lại 1 đoạn

consumed by Australian teenagers from 1975 to 2000. Summarize the information by
selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Phân tích biểu đồ:
- Biểu đồ động - có sự biến đổi theo thời gian
- Subject: the consumption of fast food by Australian teenagers (pizza, fish and chips
and hamburgers)
- Horizontal axis: time (1975-2000) => past simple tense
- Vertical axis: number of times eaten per year
- Place: America
- Xu hướng
● hamburger + pizza: có xu hướng tăng (had an upward trend), fish and chips -
có xu hướng giảm (had a downward trend)
- Chia đoạn:
● Fish and chips - 1 đoạn - do có xu hướng giảm
● 2 categories còn lại 1 đoạn do có chung patterns
Introduction:
The provided line graph portrays information about how much fast food was
consumed by Australian teenagers over the course of 25 years from 1975 to 2000.
Overview
In general, the consumption of fish and chips witnessed a substantial decrease
while that of pizza and hamburgers saw an opposite trend.
Body
In 1975, fish and chips, the most favored fast food among Australian teenagers,
was eaten 100 times. This figure slightly decreased to approximately 90 times five
years later, and then experienced a recovery to almost the same number as it was in
the first year of this period in 1985. However, the consumption of fish and chips
plunged to just under 40 times per year in 2000, a considerable decrease of 60 times
over a fifteen-year period.
Regarding the other two types of fast food, there was an upward trend in their
consumption over the years. Starting with around 10 times eaten per year by
Australian teenagers, the figure for both pizza and hamburger skyrocketed to over 40
times and 80 times respectively after five years. From 1985 onwards, hamburger
consumption overtook the consumption of fish and chips to become the most popular
fast food among teenagers in Australia and gradually rose to 100 times per year,
followed by a five-year stability. At the same time, the consumption of pizza grew
substantially to more than 80 times in 1995 and remained stable until 2000.
