PERFORMANCE TASK 1
VARIETY SHOW
1. Talent/Skill (25%)
How well does the performer execute their act?
Do they demonstrate a high level of skill or talent?
2. Creativity/Originality (20%)
How unique or innovative is the performance? Does it stand out from typical acts?
Examples: New twists on traditional routines, innovative choreography,
unexpected punchlines, etc.
5. Presentation/Costuming (10%)
How well-presented is the act? Is the costuming and overall presentation
appropriate and appealing?
Examples: Costume quality, use of props, coordination with the theme, etc.
6. Versatility (5%)
Does the performer demonstrate a range of abilities within their act or across
different styles?
Examples: Switching between singing and dancing, combining magic with
comedy, etc.

GUIDELINES FOR THE PERFORMANCE TASK
1. Performance Types
Acceptable Acts: Acts may include singing, dancing, comedy, magic, juggling,
instrumental performances, acrobatics, etc.
Any Act. It can be a multiple act or a skit to exemplify the talents of the class.
Originality: Performers are encouraged to bring originality to their acts. Creative
and unique performances are valued.
2. Time Limits
Performance Length: Each act must be between 5 to 8 minutes. Exceeding the
time limit may result in a point deduction.
3. Technical Requirements
Audio/Visual: Any special audio or visual needs must be prepared by the group.
Speakers are good for sharing to other groups.
Props: Performers are responsible for bringing their own props. Props should be
safe, non-hazardous, and easy to set up and remove.
Costumes: Costumes should be appropriate for the variety show audience and fit
the performance’s theme.
4. Stage Etiquette
Set-Up and Breakdown: Set-up and breakdown should be completed quickly to
avoid disrupting the flow of the show.
5. Content Guidelines
Family-Friendly Content: All acts must be appropriate for a general audience,
including children. No offensive language, suggestive themes, or inappropriate
behavior is not allowed.
Inclusivity: Performers should avoid any content that could be seen as
discriminatory or insensitive towards any group of people.
6. Judging Criteria
Skill & Talent: Acts will be judged based on skill, creativity, stage presence,
entertainment value, and audience engagement.
7. Audience Interaction
Respect: Performers should be courteous and respectful to the audience, avoiding
any behavior that could make them uncomfortable.
Engagement: Performers are encouraged to engage with the audience in a
positive manner, but they must remain professional and inclusive in their
interactions.
8. Safety Rules
Personal Safety: Acts involving stunts or physical challenges should ensure
safety precautions are taken.
Venue Safety: Avoid acts that could potentially harm the audience, performers, or
the venue (e.g., fire, dangerous animals).
