Why study Japanese?

Japan has one of the most influential economies in the world and
many of the largest companies in the world are situated in this country.
More and more western companies have offices in Japan and if you
are to work there for a period of time, not knowing the language may
be quite frustrating.

Many elements of the Japanese culture, both modern and classic,


found their way into the western culture. Japanese cartoons and video
games are very popular in today’s society and many people,
especially young ones, enjoy reading and playing them.

There are numerous video games that do not reach the western
countries and in order to play them you need to know the language.

Sensei Japan is known for setting quite a few trends and by knowing the

and you will be ahead of your friends in setting the newest trend.
Knowing another foreign language can have a major impact on your
personal life.

The Japanese culture is one of the richest in the world. If you are
interested in foreign cultures, you will be able to better understand
their habits, way of life and traditions. And you will see that Japan
has one of the most beautiful traditions in the world.

1. Tokyo- is the capital city of Japan.The Tokyo Metropolis is made up of 23
Special Wards, home to upwards of 35 million people. It is also known for having
the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing, known as Shibuya Scramble Crossing,
and what many would say is the busiest train station in the world in Shinjuku.

2.Yokohama- is the second-largest city in Japan. Yokohama lies the south of

first port that officially opened to foreign trade in 1859.

3. Osaka- is Japan’s 3rd largest city. In the heart of the city is ‘Osaka Castle’. It
is one of the most popular places during cherry blossom season with over 600
cherry trees and 2 km2 of gardens and recreation facilities.

4. Nagoya- is Japan's fourth-largest urban area. It is well known for hosting one
of the most important ports in the country. Nagoya is also home to a major
automotive industry.

5. Sapporo- is the fifth largest city in Japan, and the largest city on the northern
Japanese island of Hokkaido. It is the capital city of Hokkaido .The city is the site
of the famous Snow Festival, an event held each February showcasing an array
of marvelous ice and snow sculptures that is visited by about 2 million people
each year!

6. Kobe is a city on Osaka Bay in central Japan. It is known for its signature
marbled beef and scenic setting of mountains framing the harbor. The Ikuta
Japan has four main islands Shrine, dating to the 3rd century, is among Japan's oldest Shinto shrines.
Antique cable cars connect Kobe to Mt. Rokko, which offers panoramic views
over the port. Beyond the Mount Rokko hills are the outdoor hot springs of Arima
Onsen.

7. Fukouka is the seventh largest city in Japan, with a total population of


1,482,000. Fukuoka, capital of Fukuoka Prefecture, sits on the northern shore
of Japan’s Kyushu Island. It’s known for ancient temples, beaches and modern
shopping malls, including Canal City. Maizuru Park contains ruins of 17th-
century Fukuoka Castle. The central Hakata district contains Tōchō-ji Temple,
home to a 10m wooden Buddha and the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum, with
displays on daily life in the Meiji and Taishō eras.

8. Kawasaki is an industrial city in the Greater Tokyo area. The grand
Kawasaki Daishi Temple complex has an octagonal pagoda. Set in
the Tama Hills, the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum has a Famous Landmarks
collection of traditional folk houses. Nearby, the Taro Okamoto
Museum of Art exhibits the work of the celebrated abstract artist.
Fujiko F Fujio Museum is dedicated to the co-creator of the manga
cartoon character Doraemon.

9. Kyoto was the official capital of Japan for over 1,000 years and
remains one of the foremost destinations to experience traditional
Japanese culture. The city has around 2,000 temples and shrines.

10. Saitama is the capital and the most populous city of Saitama

Prefecture, Japan. Its area incorporates the former cities of Urawa,
Ōmiya, Yono and Iwatsuki. It is a city designated by government Mt Fuji (ふじ山) Pagoda
ordinance.

11. Hiroshima is the site where the first atomic bomb was dropped
in 1945. Soon after, the city was also devastated by the Makurazaki
Typhoon. Despite this tragedy, Hiroshima has since been rebuilt.

12. Sendai is by far the largest city in the Tohoku Region and one of
the country's 15 largest cities The modern city of Sendai was
founded around 1600 by Date Masamune, one of Feudal Japan 's
most powerful lords. Many of Sendai's tourist attractions are related

13. Chiba is the capital city of Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It sits about
40 kilometers East of the center of Tokyo on Tokyo Bay. The city

14. Kitakyushu is the northernmost city on Japan’s Kyushu Island.


Kokura Castle is surrounded by Katsuyama Park, known for its spring
cherry blossoms. Riverwalk Kitakyushu is a shopping mall by the
Murasaki River. Northeast, Moji Port Retro Area has 1900s buildings,
like the red-brick Moji Customs Building and striped Old Mitsui OSK
Line Building. Vintage locomotives are displayed at the Kyushu
Railway History Museum.
