1. Introduction

Description of the institute

PHN Technology Private Limited is a non-governmental company based


in Pune, Maharashtra. It was incorporated on January 9, 2018, and is
registered with the Registrar of Companies in Pune. The company has an
authorized share capital of Rs. 100,000,000 and a paid-up capital of Rs.
65,000,000. The company is involved in business activities not elsewhere
classified, indicating that its operations encompass a wide range of
business activities that are not specifically mentioned. The last Annual
General Meeting (AGM) of PHN Technology Private Limited was held
on September 30, 2022. According to the records from the Ministry of
Corporate Affairs (MCA), the company's balance sheet was last filed on
March 31, 2022.

The directors of PHN Technology Private Limited are Laxmi Hanuman


Narayankar and Pradip Hanuman Narayankar. PHN Technology
positions itself as a company to design solutions for its clients to meet
their business needs within specified timelines. This company has a
customer base of nearly 400 million customers, which has been built over
the past decade.

1.1. Internship dates

Internship Period: June 5th, 2023 to August 7th, 2023

During my enriching internship journey at PHN Technology, I


assumed the role of a Robotics and IoT intern, with a primary focus
on hands-on hardware handling. This experience not only granted
me valuable insights into the realm of Robotics and IoT but also
provided me with a unique opportunity to contribute to real-time
projects within PHN Techno labs.

Working on actual projects for PHN Techno labs has been an


integral part of my internship. Engaging with these projects has
enabled me to apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios,
thereby enhancing my problem-solving skills and offering a deeper
understanding of the intricacies of hardware implementation.

In essence, my internship at PHN Technology has been a


comprehensive learning experience that has not only equipped me
with technical expertise but has also nurtured my ability to
contribute meaningfully to collaborative projects and mentor fellow
students. This multifaceted opportunity has significantly enriched
my journey, fostering personal and professional growth in the
domains of Robotics, IoT, and beyond.

1.2 Scope of work during internship

The scope of IoT (Internet of Things) and technology is wide-


ranging and encompasses various aspects of our modern lives. It
involves the interconnection of physical devices, objects, and
systems through the Internet, enabling them to collect and exchange
data. This data can be analyzed and used to gain insights, automate
processes, and improve efficiency in various domains.

In terms of technology, IoT relies on a combination of hardware,


software, and networking components. It involves sensors and
actuators embedded in devices that can detect and measure physical
parameters such as temperature, humidity, light, motion, and more.
These devices are connected to the internet, allowing them to
communicate with each other and with centralized system

The potential applications of IoT are vast. It can be applied in


industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture,
transportation, energy, and more. In manufacturing, IoT can enable
the monitoring and control of production processes, leading to
improved efficiency and reduced downtime.

In healthcare, IoT devices can be used for remote patient monitoring,


tracking vital signs, and improving patient care. In agriculture, IoT
can assist in precision farming, optimizing water and fertilizer usage,
and monitoring crop conditions.
IoT also has a significant impact on smart cities. By integrating
various systems and infrastructure, such as transportation, energy,
waste management, and public safety, IoT enables cities to become
more efficient, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of their

residents. For example, smart traffic management systems can
reduce congestion and improve transportation flow.

Additionally, IoT has implications for data analytics and artificial


intelligence. The massive amount of data generated by connected
devices can be analyzed to extract valuable insights and drive
informed decision-making. Artificial intelligence and machine
learning algorithms can be applied to IoT data to identify patterns,
predict outcomes, and automate processes.

The scope of IoT and technology continues to expand as new


advancements are made. It offers opportunities for innovation,
improved efficiency, enhanced user experiences, and the
development of new business models. As technology evolves, we
can expect to see further integration of IoT in our daily lives,
transforming how we interact with the world around us and creating
new possibilities for connectivity, automation, and data-driven
decision-mak

2. Internship discussion

2.1. Project/ Methodology

During this internship period we got an opportunity to work on multiple real


time projects that included multiple IoT based projects that included projects
like ‘Hand Following Robot’, ‘Robotic Arm’, ‘Otto Robot’, ‘Buddy Robot’
and other non-Technical Projects that included Organizing a national Level
48hrs Hackathon and Designing of Syllabus for Techno Lab. The main
concept of the internship was to set up Techno labs in multiple parts of the
state and creating elements for the lab, both technical and non-technical. The
technology stack included use of multiple IoT tools and elements like
Arduino , ESP and other IoT tools .

Internet of Things(IoT):

IoT, or the Internet of Things, refers to a network of physical objects or "things"


embedded with sensors, software, and connectivity capabilities that allow them
to collect and exchange data over the internet. These objects can be anything
from everyday items like appliances, vehicles, and industrial equipment to
specialized devices in various industries.

The key characteristics of IoT include:

1. Connectivity: IoT devices are connected to the internet or to other devices,


enabling them to communicate and share data.

2. Sensors and Data Collection: IoT devices are equipped with sensors that allow
them to collect various types of data, such as temperature, humidity, location,
motion, and more.

3.Data Processing and Analysis: The data collected by IoT devices is processed
and analyzed, often in real-time, to derive insights or trigger actions based on
specific conditions or events.

4.Automation and Control: IoT systems can often be programmed to perform


certain actions or control devices based on the data they receive. For example,
adjusting the thermostat based on temperature readings.

5.Remote Monitoring and Management: IoT allows for remote monitoring and
management of devices and systems, which can lead to increased efficiency and
cost savings.

6. Integration with Other Systems: IoT can integrate with other software or
systems, such as cloud computing platforms, to enhance functionality and enable
more complex applications.

IoT has a wide range of applications across various industries including smart
homes, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, and more. It has

the potential to revolutionize how we interact with our environment and the
objects around us, making processes more efficient, data-driven, and responsive
to real-world conditions.

2.2 Technical Work

2.2.1 Edge Detection Robot


An edge detection robot is a robot that can detect the edges of objects in
its environment. This is done using sensors, such as infrared sensors or
cameras. The robot can then use this information to navigate its surroundings
or to perform tasks such as picking and placing objects.

2.2.2 Hand Following Robot
Hand following robot is a robot that can follow the movement of a
human hand. This is typically done using infrared sensors or ultrasonic
sensors to detect the hand's movement. The robot will then use its
motors to move in the same direction as the hand.

• 2.2.3 IR Sensor Robot
An IR remote controlled robot is a robot that can be controlled using an
infrared remote control. This is typically done by using an infrared sensor to
detect the signals from the remote control. The robot will then use its motors to
move in the direction of the signal.

2.2.4 3D BUDDY
3D Buddy is a 3D printed Arduino social robot kit that is designed to be a fun
and educational STEM project for kids and adults. It is a small, mobile robot
that can be programmed to move around, interact with its environment, and
express emotions.

The 3D Buddy kit includes all the parts you need to build the robot, including
the 3D printed body, motors, sensors, and Arduino board. You will also need
to provide your own tools and electronics components.

The 3D Buddy robot can be programmed using the Arduino IDE. There are a
number of tutorials available online that can help you get started. Once you
have programmed the robot, you can interact with it using voice commands or
by touching its sensors.

2.2.5 Otto Robot

The otto robot involves a 3D printed robot which can walk, dance, sing and
even ignore the obstacles. The otto robot had parts like the 3D printed body,
Arduino nano with shield, 4 servos for without arms and 6 servos for with arms
otto robot, ultrasonic sensor and a buzzer. The servos were attached to the arms
and hand joints for the movement. The ultrasonic was used for avoiding the
obstacles and the buzzer was used for playing music. Our main task was to
assemble the robot the assembling was easy but after assembling the robot we
have to calibrate the servos such that the legs and the arms are in proper
direction. The calibration was done using a calibration app available on the
otto official website. After calibration we have to upload code in the otto so
that it can perform the given actions. The code was implemented using the app
called otto blocky. Similarly, we had done this by printing our own PHN otto

with the help of acrylics

2.2.6 Welcome Project

The welcome project is a simple Arduino project that uses a PIR sensor to
detect the presence of a person. When the PIR sensor detects a person, it
activates a speaker to play a welcome message.

2.2.7 Robotic Arm

A robotic arm using syringes is a type of robot that uses syringes to move its
parts. The syringes are connected to hydraulic cylinders, which use pressurized
fluid to move the cylinders and the parts of the robot.

This type of robot can be used for a variety of tasks, such as picking and
placing objects, dispensing liquids, and performing surgery. It is often used in

industrial applications where it is necessary to move objects with precision and
accuracy.

2.2.8 IR Controlled Fan:

IR controlled fan is a fan that can be controlled using an infrared remote


control. The remote control sends signals to the fan's receiver, which then
controls the fan's speed, direction, and other settings. It was made using 1
motor driver and using sensor IR Receiver and Sensor. When Given a signal
through the remote the fan will automatically start functioning.

2.3 Non-Technical

2.3.1 Planning of National Level Hackathon:

A national level hackathon will be organized by PHN Technology Pvt Ltd. It will
be a 48 hours hackathon which will invite brilliant minds across India to present their
problem-solving skills across all domains including mechanical, electronics branches.

2.3.2 Planning of A course for all

The main objective of this project is that students from across country would
contact us for guidance for their major projects, where a live doubt session would be
held for students and they would be given a lab manual on how to their project and
further extra featuring would be done by students and second part consists of a
package that will provide all the necessary things for cracking MNC’s interview.

2.3.3 Chassis Designing

Chassis designing is the process of designing the frame or skeleton of a vehicle


or machine. The chassis is responsible for supporting the weight of the vehicle or
machine and providing a mounting point for the other components. In our case
chassis designing was used for designing base and frameworks of robots, the
software I used for chassis designing was Light Burn.

2.3.4 Setting Up of Techno Lab(A Realtime project)

At PHN Techno Lab, we are currently engaged in an exciting real-time


implementation project work. This project involves developing a cutting-edge
technology solution that addresses a specific problem or meets a particular need. The
project focuses on practical application and hands-on implementation of advanced
concepts, tools, and techniques.

Our team is actively working on designing, developing, and implementing the


project, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies, software frameworks, and hardware

components. We are following an iterative development approach, conducting
thorough testing and validation to ensure the solution's effectiveness and reliability.

The project work involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including


software engineers, hardware specialists, data scientists, and domain experts. We are
leveraging our collective expertise and knowledge to create a robust and efficient
solution that meets the project's objectives.

Throughout the project, we are maintaining a strong emphasis on real-time


performance, responsiveness, and scalability. We are integrating various components
and technologies seamlessly to achieve a cohesive and comprehensive solution

The real-time implementation project work at PHN Techno Lab not only provides us
with valuable hands-on experience but also fosters innovation, teamwork, and
problem-solving skills. We are committed to delivering a successful and impactful
project that showcases our technical capabilities and contributes to the advancement
of technology in the industry.

3.Learning Experience

a) Knowledge acquired

During this internship period, we got an opportunity to learn and study


the IoT & Robotics. The knowledge which we gained while working on
this project is very helpful for my future, So, I am aware about the basic
concepts which make me easy to understand the concepts.
For our projects we used basic concepts of IoT & Robotics approach
from which we have learned many things. We learned what are the types
of sensors it’s uses its application, how are connections created and what
happens if we make cross connections, how to work with cross functional
teams and Lead the team what is chassis designing and its application,
prototyping and programming IoT Devices, 3D modelling and
construction modelling Other Knowledge we acquired through our
internship is Leadership, time management and importance of meeting
Deadlines, punctuality, efficiency of communication and importance of
team bonding.

b) Skills learned
Throughout the internship project, as we were working on the same
project as a team, the most important skill that I have acquired is of Team
Management which plays a very important role in our professional life.
Along with this I have achieved some of the basic technical skills of IoT
& Robotics. During this Internship, we have also planned activities at
national level and how to manage those activities, other skills that I have
achieved is communication, problem solving and creativity

c) Observed attitudes and gained values


The value that I gained during internship is that we should always be
honest with our work and complete our work from time to time. It should
not be laid to next day. As now we would be entering in the professional
environment, so we should behave like professionals like our gestures,
postures, communication should seem to be matured. We should
implement this ethics in our day-to-day life.

d) The most challenging task performed

During initial days of internship, I was completely unaware of the task I was
assigned, as I was not aware of the field, I’m working in but with right
guidance and research I overcame the problem and completed my tasks
efficiently. The most tedious task was doing the right connections because a
slight mistake in forming proper connections, the whole system would short
circuit but over time I learnt how to form proper connections

4.Conclusion:

My internship at PHN Technology has been a transformative and enriching


experience, allowing me to delve into the realms of IoT and robotics while
honing my skills in team management and training. Throughout the internship, I
have acquired practical knowledge, developed essential competencies, and
gained valuable insights into the industrial applications of these technologies.

In the field of IoT, I have witnessed the potential of interconnected devices and
data-driven insights to revolutionize industries. Through the smart agriculture
monitoring system project, I have learned how IoT solutions can optimize
resource management, enhance decision-making processes, and improve
operational efficiency.

In the realm of robotics, I have explored the intricacies of designing intelligent


robotic systems. By working on the autonomous warehouse logistics project, I
have experienced firsthand the transformative potential of robotics in optimizing
warehouse operations, increasing productivity, and reducing human error. I have
gained expertise in perception algorithms, motion planning techniques, and
system integration.

In addition to technical skills, my internship has allowed me to develop and


refine my abilities in team management. As a team manager, I have honed my
communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills.

Overall, my internship at PHN Technology has been a journey of growth,


learning, and practical application. I have gained valuable insights into IoT and
robotics, developed essential skills in team management. I am confident that the
learnings and experiences gained during this internship will serve as a strong
foundation for my future endeavors in the field of technology
