Dribbling

Dribbling helps you control the ball, advance it towards the hoop, and create distance between you and
your defender.

Introduction:

The teacher will introduce the dribbling skill to the learners and show the demo.

Warm up: Dynamic workout ,Dynamic exercises require the body to move through a full range-of-
motion. Hip Circles. Stand on one leg, using a countertop for support, and gently swing the opposite leg
in circles out to the side.

Arm Circles.

Arm Swings.

High-Stepping.

Heel-to-Toe Walk.

Step Up and Over.

Activities:

Front V-Dribble. The front V-dribble is used for in and out fake

moves and can help you get around a defender.

Figure Eight Dribble. Widen your stance and dribble the ball in a

figure eight around both of your legs Scissors.

Dribble Behind the Back and Crossover.

Freestyle.

Cones and Basket ball

Passing - Chest pass

Learners will be able to improve their proficiency in the skill of basketball passing.

Learners will be able to perform passing skills using the proper cues of the chest pass

Passing - Bounce pass

Learners will be able to improve their proficiency in the skill of basketball passing.

Learners will be able to perform passing skills using the proper cues of the Bounce pass and chest pass

Bounce Pass Cues:

Spread fingers along the sides of the ball.

Start the ball at chest level.

Keep knees bent.

Release the ball by extending arms downwards.

Upon release, turn palms outward toward floor.

Ball should contact ground two-thirds of the way to the receiving player

Defense

Demonstrate the ability to perform team offensive and defensive skills and strategies. Understand and
apply the knowledge of basic rules of basketball

Three cone hurdles: For this drill, space three cones two feet apart.

Rebounding

Demonstrate the skill Rebounding is so important because even at a very high level, professional teams
miss more than 60% of their shots. Every rebound you get actually means another possession of the ball
for your team. If you get a defensive rebound, you limit your opponent to just one shot and the situation
is now reversed.

Activities:

For this drill, the first person in line will pass the ball to themselves off the backboard and go up strong
with two hands to secure the rebound. Next, pivot once they have control of the ball and pass to the
next person, who then repeats the same drill.

Shooting

To shoot accurately, square your shoulders to the basket and place your feet shoulder length apart. With
your knees bent slightly and back leaning towards the basket, put the fingers of your shooting hand
under the ball and tuck your elbows close to your body. Flick your wrist towards the hoop to release the
shot.
