SLEEP STUDY PREPARATION

Please bring the following with you to the Sleep Center


• Comfortable sleepwear.
• Make sure you shampoo and dry your hair, NO HAIR Conditioner, no lotions on skin. Remove nail
polish.
• Take all medications as prescribed. Follow your normal daily routine.
• Bring list of the medications you currently take, including the dose and frequency.
• Bring any medications you normally take before bed or during the night, may bring a sleeping pill
as prescribed by the doctor.
• If you had a sleep study at another facility and you have a copy of the results, please bring them
with you and we will make a copy.
• Please be sure to bring your sleep study order (prescription) with you on the day of the study.
• Bring personal toiletries.
On the day of the sleep study please do the following:
• Avoid any caffeine (coffee, tea, colas).
• Eat dinner before coming to the Sleep Center.
• Avoid taking naps.
• Avoid using of hairspray, gels, mousse, etc.
• Avoid alcoholic beverages.
• Strictly no gadgets allowed during sleep study.
• Kindly be here 30 mins. before the schedule time to fill out required forms.
Arrival to the Sleep Center:
• Please be here at the clinic at 8pm.
• Sleep technologist will assist you to Sleep lab room.
During procedure
• You will be asked to remove any jewellery or other objects that may interfere with the procedure.
• You will be asked to change into pyjamas, shorts, comfortable sleep wear.
• Small metal discs, or electrodes, will be positioned on your head and body for EEG, ECG, EOG, and
EMG cables.
• Pulse oximetry, which measures the oxygen level in the blood vessels, and air flow monitors, which
measure breathing, will be applied to the finger and face, respectively.
• The temperature of the room may need to be maintained at a certain level, but blankets can be
adjusted as needed.
• Lights will be turned off and monitoring will begin before you fall asleep.
• When the study has been completed, the electrodes and other devices will be removed.

Discharge from Sleep lab clinic:


• You will be awakened by the sleep technologist once the test is completely done.
• Please allow 7-14 working days for your test results to be completed.

Cancellation of the Sleep Study


• Please notify the Sleep Lab for any changes of the schedule prior to the day of the procedure.
• Kindly inform us immediately for any signs and symptoms related to COVID.
