minor
B. analyze the melodic patterns of songs in C major and its
relative minor
C. create simple melodies in C Major or its relative minor

Is a succession of eight musical notes arranged in ascending
and descending order.

● They’re written as do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do
Pitch names
● Are letter names derived from the first seven letters of the
English Alphabet
● They’re written as C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C

● It is the last pitch of the song.
● If the song has these pitches
with DO as the home tone, the
song is based on a major
scale.
● A major scale follows a scale

● The key is named after the letter name of the note where
the home tone is
● The key tells the place of the home tone on the staff and
opens up the places of the rest of the other pitches.
