The flyweel has a diameter of 600 mm and rotates with

increasing speed about its z-axis shaft. When point P
on the rim crosses the y-axis with Ɵ=90o, it has an
acceleration given by a= -1.8i -4.8j m/s2. For this
instant , determine the angular velocity  and the
angular acceleration  of the flywheel.

Solution
When the Ɵ=90o , the acceleration a=-ati-anj

The elements of the mechanism for development of a spacecraft magnetometer boom are
shown. Determine the angular velocity of the boom when the driving link OB crosses the y-
axis with an angular velocity OB=0.5 rad/s if tan Ɵ=4/3 at this instant.

**unit is m (meter)
Solution rCA= 0.12 i+ 0.16j (tanƟ is given in the problem)
rOB=0.12j
rBA=0.24i+ 0.04j
vA= ACx rCA=ACx(0.12 i+ 0.16j) Velocity of point A

vB= OBx rOB=0.5 k x 0.12j=-0.06i m/s

vA/B=ABx rBA=AB k x (0.24i+ 0.04j)= 0.24j AB - 0.04ABi
vA= vB+ vA/B
AC k x(0.12 i+ 0.16j)= -0.06i+(0.24j AB - 0.04ABi)
0.12AC j-0.16AC i= -0.06i+(0.24j AB - 0.04ABi)
**** Now, we are observing left and right side of the equation and there are i and j terms******
AB=0.214 k rad/s
AC=0.429 k rad/s
